The 502 Bar & Bistro
Large open seating area with bar.. Nearly empty on a Friday night (thought it was closed). Nice atmosphere, quiet. Good service. Better cocktails than food. Nothing bad, but not notable either.
Average food good atmosphere
502 has had it's ups and downs and it seems to be one a down again. When I compare other restaurants where I spend $100 for two on a meal, 502 just doesn't compare well at all. When we got to the restaurant we were told they were out of shrimp and mussels--these are key ingredients in several menu items. And they were out of 1 of the specials. All this an it was only 6:30 pm on a Saturday night!
The service was fine. The fish tacos just didn't excite. There just wasn't anything particularly interesting about them. They were passable. The bar has been set pretty high with tacos and they didn't reach it. One dinner companion complained that the steak slices were tough and not very good. He's had this before at 502 and it was much better. My wife got a salad where she asked for ranch dressing and she was served blue cheese. She doesn't at all like blue cheese so she had to send it back for another.
Very disappointing and not worth what they were charging.
We had a fantastic meal for my boyfriend's birthday at The 502! The services was friendly, the music was good (a bit loud, but we chose to sit out there.) The cookie dessert wa a bit overdone but aside from that everything was amazing. The sliders are to die for!
I loved my first visit a few weeks ago but disappointed the 2nd time. The Harvest Bowl was delicious but menu changed and it is gone. Hopefully it will come back! The calamari was so unique, love it and good value. The nachos have cheese SAUCE and it was awful, pasty, cold quickly.
Good sliders...crispy calamari...and one the best Cubans I have had in a while.
Dinner with a friend, we both had BLT’s and substituted the Brussel sprouts as a side. They were delicious as was the BLT. The service was good and wine selection was excellent.
Food is great! Service was excellent. Hidden gem in NC
Food and service is phenomenal! A little spendy, but otherwise awesome.
Every time we have dinner here is an awesome experience. We've been so lucky to have been seated in Kayla's section the last 3 visits and she is fantastic. The burgers and Brussels sprouts were yummy and the Pom Sangria hit the spot. Can't wait to go back soon.
502 is a neighborhood restaurant. Went with a friend for a catch-up-and-chat dinner. Quiet, not many patrons indoors. Service was prompt but unhurried (see above reference to "chat"), food good without being pretentious.
The space at 502 is really nice and inviting. Our server was friendly and accommodating - however water glasses were left empty and we had to ask for them to be refilled. Our food was not very good. Four of us had the Caesar salad, tomato soup, flatbread, meatball appetizer, fried chicken and power bowl. We agreed the meatballs were terrible. The fried chicken was dry. All in all, we were pretty disappointed.
Great food and great service! Dustin, Edward, and Kayla (dark hair) always do a great! Love the white sangria!
Always order the shrimp and grits! The best!
The steak with asparagus and fingerling potatoes was delicious. They seem to do a good job of offering both casual dining, bar food, and a more high end menu. Nice outdoor patio.
Father’s Day Great food! Little different than other restaurants so we were able to try something new. The waiter was attentive but did not rush us at all. We were able to sit as long as we wanted and enjoy each other’s company. We had a great time and look forward to going again!!
Live music on a Saturday was an added bonus to an excellent meal we had celebrating my dad. He loved the steak, I had the pork chop which was also excellent. Great spot in Norton Commons!
Food and service were very good but it was very loud. Overall great experience and I will be back - maybe outside next time!!!
Mother’s Day; didn’t have anything special. Small menu in general, mainly bar food. Wine selection is all cheap wine. Great bourbon selection though.
Very lucky to have 502 in our wonderful neighborhood! The current staff is great!
Our server was just great and the food and the seasonal old fashions were amazing. My wife almost always get one of your great burgers and you didn't let us down this time either we shall return!
It took us over 2 hours to have a quick dinner. No appetizers, burger, chicken wings, and rice. Took more than 35 min to get our first drink! Food was decent, but wouldn’t return due to the amount of time it took to be greeted, served, etc. the restaurant wasn’t busy so it shouldn’t have taken so long!
All was good. I’d recommend the spot to anyone in the area. Kind of a neat spot in Louisville.
Have been very pleased in the past, but the Caesar salad and Ham & Cheese Sliders were a disappointment.
Great restaurant in the Norton Commons neighborhood. I have been with girlfriends for dinner/wine and with my husband on a separate occasion. The food, service and atmosphere has been wonderful on all three occasions. Highly recommend the hanger steak and the salmon!
Drink orders incorrect, food marginal. Should have sent two appetizers back but really didn’t bother. No one asked how our meal was. Again too many other restaurants to go to, not worth effort of complaining.
Our meals were fantastic. We went during a UK game on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded, but a good atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit and will return.
We chose this restaurant because of the multiple TVs and our ability to watch the NCAA tournament. Not only was the food delicious, our server was exceptional and the manager was very personable and was available but not disruptive to our dinner. We will definitely be back and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We enjoyed our visit.
Only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant! Service was slow and the food was over cooked. Only my second time here, doubt I’ll be back.
Only disappointment was a menu change w no filet that we wanted
Love the new additions to the menu! Looking forward to beautiful evenings on the awesome patio!
This place is great... 2 menus (bar and regular), slightly different price points. It always amazes me that the place isn't more crowded than it is. If she's available, you should ask for Kayla - best server there in my opinion.
sidewinder fries are wonderful
gnocci is some of the best, if not the best I've ever had
my wife always gets the steak frittes - its awesome
I normally get the hangar - off the charts
GET THE Brussell Sprouts
I have been there a few times before and I always keep giving it another shot. This time was it. The food wasn’t that great. The shrimp and grits were swimming in some sort of gravy and the shrimp toast app was minced up shrimp that was completely overpriced. It was my husband’s birthday and they didn’t even acknowledge this even though they did ask if it was a special occasion. In addition to this, we felt very rushed. It was a 7pm reservation and we were home by 8. Just disappointing!
Very enjoyable meal—and my favorite shrimp & grits in Louisville.
The food was good and service was excellent.
All around great experience. Food was very tasty.
Menu has a good variety of choices. Very good service. It’s a stylish sports pub.
Excellent food and service! The chef did an outstanding job and the staff were friendly and top notch.
From the moment you enter the restaurant you are struck but the beautiful, light filled interior. It is open and welcoming at the same time! The service was impeccable, water glasses always filled, coffee cups always hot and sodas constantly replenished. The food was the star of course! Amazingly beautiful and delicious steak, delicious and creamy corn sauce on ravioli and perfectly cooked vegetables. We wiped every drop of sauce from the beneath the wonderful lamb meatballs. Dessert was just right with an ice cream, cookie and espresso concoction to wake us from our food coma!
