An understated storefront hides a coveted skyline view—just one of the many ways you could underestimate this longtime cafe on Mount Baker’s main drag. The menu, the sign—even the name—are a bit of a throwback, but current owners Guy Devillier and David Hoefer took over in 2018 and keep things attuned to today. Carbonara packs more nuance than you might expect, the slightly crackly pizza’s better than it has to be, and the bar pours lambrusco and negroni. No wonder tables are loaded with a diversity of diners.

    Great experience.. food was great!! Dining was alil more Causal than I expected; I was alil over dressed. But nonetheless, I enjoyed the ambiance and the views. There was a 20% surcharge that appears to be a standard practice/fee with some restaurants. This can add up when considering tipping as well.

    Nice place and people. Pear salad was great. Pizza with figs and prosciutto was not good. Very salty and crust was like cardboard.

    Hey, SeattleRed, sorry the Roma pizza was not to your liking. Between the prosciutto and feta cheese, a salty flavor is prevalent. But the pizza crust being that way is not up to our standards. So I apologize for that.

    That's Amore was probably the best restaurant that we visited in our time in Seattle. It had the friendly, relatively peaceful vibe you want in a small establishment, and a very pleasant surprise was the terrific view of the water and mountains. Almost everything we tried turned out much better than the typical execution - particularly memorable items included the cheese bread, the bruschetta and the roma pizza.

    The food was good but the service was better. We went for our anniversary and our waitress was very nice and they gave us a happy anniversary card and dessert for free. Great experience and would go again for sure!

    As usual, the service was friendly and prompt, with a dash of humor that is always appreciated. The halibut catch of the day was divine. The dinginess crab in the Pappardelle was tender, sweet and generous.

    I was at That's Amore last night with my family and while the food was quite good, the service was rather poor. My mother is gluten free and in making the reservation here, I looked at the reviews to see if there were gluten free options. The menu didn't make any distinction but, with many pasta dishes, I would have assumed that a gluten-free pasta would be in-stock. I came across a review where the customer had asked for GF options and was told there wasn't one to which That's Amore replied that, "There must have been some miscommunication because we have several dishes that are inherently gluten-free and others that we can substitute pasta with soft polenta, veggies, or a bed of spinach. Not sure how that happened." Satisfied with that reply, I made the reservation only to have us be told that there was only a couple GF dishes were available and none of the other options mentioned above were offered to us. It was very frustrating because I was trying to find a restaurant where my family would have GF options without being limited to one or none. Beyond that, the waitress wasn't attentive and came around only a couple of times during the course of the meal. Again, the food and the view is great but the service and lack of clarity in communication (printed or otherwise) is going to put me off going myself or recommending.

    Evan, you and the previous reviewer have found a hole in our service that I was unaware of. I assumed all servers promoted all our gluten free options when asked. So I've addressed this issue to the group. I also can't understand lackluster service on a night when we weren't very busy, so I'll address that with your server. I completely understand your disappointment in your experience and we deserve the ratings you gave us.

    It is a sweet and friendly neighborhood restaurant. We would return for a table with the view of downtown and Elliot Bay, the adult beverage selections, appetizers and the engaging staff.

    Another wonderful dinner at our fav local Italian Restaurant. Sat outside, at front entrance, and enjoyed the wonderfully warm summer Seattle weather. Well shaded by the building and sturdy patio umbrellas, and quite enjoy the neighborhood vibes and people walking by. Very nice atmosphere. Menu offers something for everyone. And our table ordered chicken parmigiana , crab and asparagus pasta special and penne with roasted chicken in white wine sauce. Along with risotto cakes and bruschetta appetizers, our dinner was delicious! Staff are super nice, attentive and very helpful.

    Me and my boyfriend are staying in the downtown Seattle area and found this place online while looking for something a little ways away from the city noise. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. The food came out pretty quickly and was very high quality. Without a doubt the fresh bread and different butters / The bolognese were the star if the show. If you are looking for a small cafe with really good energy and ambience, this is the place :)

    Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. My Amore salad and rigatoni bolognese were both excellent. Terrific view from the back. My only complaint was the high noise level, but most of it came from one loud table.

    The service was great. We arrived 10 minutes early and was seated immediately. The food was very delicious for the price point and the wait staff were attentive and polite. Would recommend this to anyone looking for quality Italian food.

    Excellent food made with care. We started with the bread and chef curated butters along with the bruschetta (delicious!!). For our main courses we delighted in the linguini with shrimp and the lasagna. Both were delicious. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere very much.

    We've been dining here since the mid 90's and it's never been better. The pear salad has been on the menu since then and last night it was superb. We had Copper River king salmon on a bed of spinach and a delicious carbonara.

    Our waitress was great. Truly a wonderful person. I arrived on time for a 6:30 seating and informed the host my friend would be a few minutes late. As he seated me he asked how late she would be because our table was pre-reserved for the next guest at 8:00. I’ve never ever been warned like that to be done with a meal in 1 1/2 hours- or what? When my friend arrived 15 minutes late I told her the situation and she very nicely asked the waitress where else we might eat in the area because we didn’t want to be rushed out. And the waitress was gracious and helpful. In the end we wound up staying and they “rearranged” the reservations, and we ordered lots of delicious food and drinks until closing. I don’t know how common this is but clearly the owners are worried about no shows (reservation deposit required) and book tables in a tight sequence. Somehow more transparency about this up front would be helpful.

    Hey Bruce, Gaby is an amazing server, right? I'm so glad it worked out that we were able to move reservations around so you had three good hours with us. Being such a small place with greater demand than seats, we do protect ourselves with that deposit for no-shows. The 90-minute turn time helps us meet some of that demand and is on that first screen when making your reservation. So I'm not sure how to make it more prominent. But it all worked out with you. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
