Very good food, very good service. Will go there again.
Excellent food and service. Bill was lower than expected - when does that happen?
Very friendly staff, and some of the best Indian food I had anywhere. It is highly recommended.
Food was excellent!
Well balanced Indian dishes with good sized portions in a clean and comfortable dining room.
The food was excellent and the service was very good. Highly recommend for Indian food, and will return next time we are in Philly.
Thanal Indian Tavern serves the best Indian food in Center City, hands down! It is our new go-to spot- can't wait for many more visits in the future. A word of advice to everyone- order the butter chicken! It's life-changing :)
Our new favorite Indian restaurant. Went there with my daughter a couple of weeks ago and back with my wife and our daughter as quickly as I could. Outstanding selection, preparation and service. Our thanks to Sean, who does a wonderful job navigating patrons through the choices.
Probably one of the best Indian restaurants in Philadelphia. The food is really good, but the service can be a little slow. Highly recommend this place.
Unquestionably the best Indian restaurant in Center City. No close second. I went with a friend of Indian descent whose wife cooks Indian food, and they both love it there, too.
Delicious buffet. Loved the food. There were enough vegetarian options in the buffet. This is my third time here and will absolutely return. Highly recommended!
Chicken 65 appetizer was amazing, as was the chicken vindaloo. Great cocktail list, naan was inexpensive and very fresh. We can’t wait to go again!
Pros: attentive service, solid old fashioned (a rarity at Indian restaurants), dosa options, solid saag paneer and great desserts.
Cons: meh small plates, the feeling of wanting just a little more out of each item...
The restaurant need to hire more staff
This was some of the best Indian food I have ever had in Philadelphia! Super friendly staff.
Being a foodie and Indian, I am always in search of good Indian restaurants around the city. Thanal has pleasantly surprised me with it's food as I don't believe the majority of Indian restaurants in USA provide you the same taste as we get in India. I would like to go there and satiate my taste buds again and again.
Amazing all around
Hard to say what was better - the food or the service, but both were top drawer.
Good place near my office but less space inside make things difficult to eat and long queue make you irritate if you hungry
What a lovely restaurant. The food was amazing and the staff was so kind!
Loved it! Been here a few times and it doesn’t disappoint. Welcoming service, great food and always an amazing time. One of our favorites in the neighborhood.
Best Indian food in Philadelphia area and we have tried them all.
Great Indian food with fantastic service. Our waiter gave excellent recommendations and there was not a single dish that was a letdown. Also the cocktails were delicious. Will definitely be returning.
Will be going back
Very friendly and waiter was very kind and helpful when making food choices
Everything was delicious
We love Thanal! The food is amazing and we love the cocktails! The staff is really really awesome. So accommodating and friendly. They remembered us from our first time there months ago. Definitely recommend!
Thanal was the closest restaurant to the venue we were going to for a play. I have to admit that Indian food is not my favorite as I don't like very spicy food and don't eat ginger or cilantro. However my companion loves it and I thought I'd order my usual, chicken korma. The manager of Thanal was so helpful though when I explained my restrictions and suggested the Butter Chicken and a delicious nut-flavoured naan. Heaven on both counts. A lovely atmosphere as well. I will certainly return.
Modern Indian restaurant with full bar, rich delicious food and busy dining room. A must visit in the Logan Square area. Recommended.
Delicious food, terrific service, and they assisted in executing a surprise for our guest of honor.
The restaurant gets great reviews, but we felt very undeserving of those reviews. The food was spicy, but tasteless and pretty much thrown on the table. Our server made us feel like we were disturbing her when we asked for another round of beer. Our raita was brought to the table as we were much finished our meal. The restaurant was extremely loud - the four of us could not hear each other. We all love Indian food, eat Indian at several restaurants in the city and were very disappointed with this meal which we were all looking forward to based upon the reviews.
Amazing! Their dishes are a great mixture of creative and authentic. The flavors and textures were so nuanced and tasty! I went with my boyfriend who has never liked Indian food, claiming it's always too mushy, and he said this was one of the best meals he ever had. You get the sense that this is what truly great Indian cuisine should taste like.
Excellent per usual. The food is delicious and customer service wonderful . Our new favorite restaurant.
Best South Indian food i ever had.. AUTHENTIC taste..
Delicious food, great atmosphere and music, good service.
Food was delicious. Our waitress was excellent even though it was very busy.
This place is fantastic! Recently went with some out of town friends and everyone loved it. The ambiance is great, service was stellar (lots of extras!), and food was amazing - overall a really great experience. Definitely getting added to the rotation of go-to spots!
Our party of five loved our meal at Thanal. Every dish that we ordered was delicious, and service was excellent. Some of the dishes that I enjoyed the most were the masala dosa (with three different sauces for dipping), chicken chettinad, and malabar fish curry. We're eager for a return visit to explore more of the menu.
Unbelievable flavors! Great happy hour! Cozy little place will definitely be back!!
This is my third visit to Thanal and I have enjoyed every time there. The staff is friendly and very accommodating as well as knowledgeable. They make great suggestions.
The menu is varied and clearly states vegan, gluten-free and spicy. The spice level can be adjusted to your tastes on much of the dishes.
They have a great bar and the decor is lovely. This is a wonderful neighborhood gem!!
The food was absolutely delicious. We tried gobhi manchurian, idly podi, vegetable biryani and paneer tikka. We also tried their cocktails as part of the happy hour and they were amazing as well. The dessert (tender coconut kheer) was a little too sweet but still good. Overall, we loved the food and their service. Definitely recommended!
