Thalassa Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is beautiful, the service was excellent and the food was very good. We had been given a gift certificate which was the reason that we chose to come here for our special dinner. Our experience was outstanding and I would not hesitate to return or recommend to friends. The octopus and scallop appetizers were outstanding as were the lamb entrees. But the highlight was the cheese desert paired with sweet wine.
We spent New Year’s Eve there. Service was HORRIBLE.
1) we ordered distilled water, when the server came to our table, he refilled w tap water and I saw him grab our distilled water to fill up another table. This happened a second time and we had to let him know.
2) when we ordered a bottle of wine, he forgot to pour a little bit to taste it. He went directly to pouring the wine into our glasses.
3) when we were leaving, we needed our coats back. We waited for a long time and the server couldn’t find it. He came later to ask if we found it. As if we were supposed to start looking for our coats. We started to do it since they were not looking for it.
4) food was average n the value wasn’t there.
Our third visit within the year confirmed first impressions; consistent in all respects. The staff was attentive but not overbearing, the server (Madison by name) knowledgeable and helpful. The fish remarkably fresh for a Monday holiday. We expect to return.
The Price-Fix menu was a great value and had good choices. We were there on as Wednesday, when they have a someone playing the guitar, and that really added to the lovely ambiance. It is a very pretty place, the service was wonderful and we enjoyed our meal.
Have lived in Tribeca for over a decade but somehow had never had dinner at Thalassa. It was outstanding. Terrific and attentive service and the food was sensational. Our dinners included whole striped bass and whole lavrakia, both deboned nicely, plus appetizers of calamari and crabmeat salad. Would highly recommend this wonderful Greek restaurant particularly seafood lovers. Will be back there again soon for sure.
Went here for a date night splurge with my fiance. We ordered a few apps/small plates and shared an entree. The apps/small plates were the highlight for us - we ordered the octopus dish, stuffed calamari, and the lamb chops - all of which were very tasty. As for the entree we ordered the red snapper, and it was okay - maybe we should've splurged more and ordered something from the fresh market. Overall I loved it - would love to come back for another special occasion or just for a drink and the octopus dish (it was phenomenal).
What a find!!! This restaurant is worth the trip from anywhere. The physical space is warm and inviting. Our waiter, Madison, was helpful, knowledgeable and charming. The menu is extensive including daily specials. We had the grilled octopus appetizer, which Madison recommended, and it was outstanding. It was cooked to perfection - not overdone. We ordered the two entrée specials for dinner, double thick lamb chops and halibut, which we wanted to share. Madison had the kitchen put half of each entrée on our plates. Both were superb. Since neither of us is familiar with Greek wine, Madison recommended one and gave us a taste. And the best is the price. For Manhattan with the superb quality of service and food the price is very moderate. We will be back the next time we visit.
Thalassa went above and beyond in providing excellent service. While waiting for the remainder of our party, we ordered a bottle of wine. They were kind enough to provide us with complimentary cheese and offered to place my flowers in a watered vase for better storage until the remaining party arrived.
The food was exceptional and fresh. The server was very knowledgeable and very friendly. A the end of the dinner, we were offered free bottled water and cookies for the road. Again, the service was impeccable!
NYC Summer Restaurant Week was officially ended on 8/18, but this Greek restaurant extends their restaurant menu until 9/30. The decor and ambience are upscale and beautiful. Service is excellent and it's very easy to find street parking after 7pm. Highly recommend !
Had to write a review since we sat next to a extremely strange table saying bad things about their dinning experience which was excellent but they wanted their meal for free and tried everything possible
our experiences have always been OUTSTANDING at Thalassa
PERFECTLY cooked and prepared dishes from apps to entrees
Service was as ALWAYS SUPERB
Great WINE LIST from all over the world with attractive pricing even on OPUS
Always go back for a great Greek Seafood meal
STAFF is so attentive
i have been going there since i moved into Tribeca over 12 years ago
FRESH FISH !! SERVICE is a 10
looking forward to going again soon
I've been to Thalassa a number of times and the service has always been impeccable and the food consistently delicious. I have recommended the place to friends and co-workers who in turn have also dined there and had very enjoyable experiences. I look forward to my next visit.
The entire meal and drinks were amazing. From the free appetizer to my martini, the spanakopita, which I have had many times surpassed all others I have eaten, the meatball was so light and delicious, and the fish so fresh and flavorful! The service was impeccable. Run don't walk there, because they have extended restaurant week through September 2017. I went with a Greek friend who said this was her favorite Greek restaurant in New York City 💥💥
Went out with a friend for restaurant week... food was great but the service was very slow. Waited forever (really about 15-20 minutes) to order drinks and food.
They gave us cookies and bottled water at the end of our night though. You have to give them credit for trying to make amends
Highly exceeded my expectations. Restaurant is beautiful with lovely calm music playing. Wait staff was exceptional. Attentive yet not annoying. Our waiter, Madison, was particularly helpful and always available. Food was attractive and delicious. Restaurant week menu was great too. Definitely going back.
As you enter the place you are welcomed by magnificent surroundings, an enjoyable mix of luxuries of modernity. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. I highly recommend it and I definitely will be back. Thank you!
This is our fourth time at Thalassa and we continue to be impressed. Madison, our server was attentive but carefully non-intrusive. His wine suggestion was spot on with what we were looking for. The Greek wines here are very good and a very good value.
We started with Seafood Saganaki and Keftes (Small meatballs). Both great! Main course was Seafood Thalassina and broiled Royal Dorado from which they remove the center bone but there are still some small bones. Our only disappointment was with dessert. The baklava was almost dry rather than the amount of honey I expected and the Galaktoboureko didn't have much citrus flavor to it. A nice evening! We'll be back.
