For a Thai restaurant with a great ambience and the lure of an inviting website, the lack of authenticity in the food was very disappointing. Medium spicy doesn’t mean no spice. And when our waitress was called back to have it explained that we wanted the Som Tum spicy, we were dumbfounded when it came to us tasting like coleslaw. The rest of the food was average as it appeared to be prepared to service Australians rather than being true to brand and preparing Thai cuisine. One bright spot was the wine list, or that part of it that the waitress could serve us. After forgetting my partner’s pre-dinner drink the Eden Valley Riesling we had was very nice. Then, after our mains were finished, the digestives we ordered to have with our deserts weren’t available and our waitress had no idea what the other Italian options on the menu were. I actually thought the era of spaghetti western Thai restaurants in Melbourne were a thing of the past. This restaurant proved me wrong.

Thai Tide was a pleasant surprise. It had a tastefully decorated and understandable vibe. We were a table of 7 and we had the feed me menu. The food was delicious and enough to make us happy. The drinks and service were slow but it was a full house.

Had a farewell dinner at Thai Tide and it was amazing! Started with their oysters and rosecco deal for $28, such good value. The kingfish crudo was fresh and light, the red snapper with green mango salad was superb, the grilled tiger prawns in red curry was smoky and tasty, and the soft shell crab with yellow curry was my favourite. The bone marrow fried rice is a must! The Mango Sticky Rice Magic cocktail was delightful, I ended up having three. Great spot for a tasty Thai dinner in a relaxed yet refined setting. Will definitely be back and recommend it to all my friends

Second time dining at Thai Tide, and it was fantastic! We booked during happy hour and ended up inviting a few friends for a long, enjoyable dinner. The staff were incredibly friendly and very accommodating. The red snapper with green mango was absolutely delicious, and the Tawaii cauliflower was divine. Their cocktail selection was also unique and interesting. Looking forward to coming back to try their set menu!
