For a Mother’s Day dinner… The food was delicious! However, we felt that several of the dishes were way overpriced and did not need to be. Need to reevaluate the value of the dishes.

Very interesting types and flavors of food despite the brunch menu seeming at first to not have many choices. It was our first time, but will not be our last. Next time, we’ll do dinner.

Always exceptional. We started with a Cosmo and Bourbon Old Fashioned - both excellent. And some Parker House Rolls - to DIE for. Then ordered a couple of appetizers; the Caesar Salad had park churo’s on top, and the whole grilled shrimp were both excellent. For the entrees we ordered the hanger steak and the short ribs both had incredible flavor and came with butter mashed potato’s. The hanger was slightly salty but delicious and the short ribs were sliced vs traditional pulled. We finished with a strawberry rhubarb pie. Great experience as always.

Excellent service, Jared was fantastic and rest of staff provided great additional support. Very special time with our visiting family, thank you! Quick note, we gave the burger a second try and it was similarly disappointing to last time. Dry and not very flavorful, we would not order it again sadly. Everything else was delicious and memorable. :)

As we expected, our dinner choice were excellent. We began with a complimentary cava in celebration of our anniversary which was a nice touch and a good cava. I choose the tasting menu which for me was enough to share with my wife. Others with hearty appetizers might want to consider the smaller portions when ordering this. All courses were very good and presented with care. The tuna tartare was particularly memorable. My wife selected the hangar steak which was very tender served with a very tasty sauce. It was cooked just the way she likes it as was my steak. Service was outstanding - knowledgeable, he suggested excellent red wine pairings with our steaks, and pleasant. All in all this is one of the best restaurants in Frederick and we have been to most of the top tier restaurants here.

Chose the tasting menu with the wine pairing - fabulous combination of great food. They gave us the menu and retracted it because they just ran out of one course, but subbed for us since we wanted it.

Nice place but overpriced for what you get. My $51 steak was chewy. Her salmon was pretty good. For an appetizer we ordered butter potatoes and got a very small dish, about 4 bites, of mashed potatoes. I mentioned the disappointing steak to the waiter and they took the $9 potatoes off my bill.?? If money is no object, the place is nice but I can get a better meal at at least a dozen other restaurants in Frederick within walking distance of this place. For a total bill before tip of $188 including a $89 bottle of wine, I expected much better.

What a delight. We found Thatcher & Rye on Open Table because we were just outside Fredrick and wanted to stop for dinner. We ate outside and had a delightful experience. It was not overly noisy, except for some cars passing by blasting hip-hop out the window. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine and, only when asked, made excellent suggestions. The food was well above average and an unusual take on standard fare. We'd make a trip back just for the purpose of eating there again.

I dined at Thacher & Rye for their Appalachia Spring tasting menu collaboration with Smoke In Chimneys and I wasn't sure what to expect. Each dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. I love trout and whenever I see it on a menu, I have to order it and this trout was amazing -- unlike any I've tasted before. And the strawberry rhubarb tart was the perfect way to cap off a lovely early spring meal.

I have been wanting to go to T&R for a long time now. We loved the food and the service was wonderful but for our first time visiting ( from Virginia ) I was very very disappointed to be seated in the kitchen dining area. I felt it definitely took away from the overall dining experience especially for a first time. I would have dressed differently had I known we would be sitting in the the kitchen space. We would go back but I would request to be seated in the main dining room. The only other thing, the martini's are tiny !

Thacher and Rye continues to impress us with the excellence of their food and service and the innovation of their dishes. The ambience is beautiful, sophisticated and comfortable. We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday, and the entire team made the evening very special for all of us. We enjoyed all of our (many) appetizers and entrees. Appetizer highlights include the unique tuna tartare, which our teen grandson devoured, the shrimp and the shrimp chips. My husband said the Cesar salad was one of the best he has ever had, and he’s had many. Our daughter had the prix fixe menu, which was perfectly balanced. The duck was amazing - hope it can make the regular menu. Despite having his own order of tuna, shrimp chips and 9 of the to-die-for Parker House Rolls, our grandson also quickly devoured the tender hanger steak. We found room to try all four of the desserts, which, as always at Thacher & Rye, were spectacular - stunning in presentation and taste. The “chocolate egg” is brilliant! The goat cheesecake brûlée is my husband’s favorite (please keep that on the menu) and the lovely blueberry pie was, interestingly, our grandson’s favorite. While we live in Howard County, we continue to choose Thacher And Rye as a top choice for brunch and dinner.

Thatcher and Rye is no Volt. In fact it isn't even close in my opinion. Apps are extremely expensive for what you get. Changing mozzarella for American cheese doesn't warrant $17 for 3 small cheese sticks. And a slice of what looked like sour dough bread, toasted and doused with some very nice olive oil and served with a weird, too think and not so yummy sausage is not focaccia no matter what the menu says. On the great side, the Caesar salad was one of the best I've had. Large and tasty. Back to expensive and not amazing, the smashburger isn't worth $27 and the fired were both overfired and small pieces that look like the bottom of the bag as just not yummy. And what is worse, Voltagio's new restaurant won't honor gift cars from his older restaurant. Service may have been great, but that's not ok for a celebrity chef charging DC prices in Frederick. With all the new restaurants on the same street, we won't be back to this one.

Not recommended. We have enjoyed the experience over many years. I ordered hanger steak and it was hard to cut and I found it almost impossible to chew. Also missed the extras that came with the dining experience. Amuse Bouche and the departure treat for breakfast the next day. The staff were excellent, courteous and worked hard to fix the problems

This was my third, my wife's second and our friend's first visit. We drove 45 minutes to get there. Being familiar with the menu meant we knew just what to order. We shared the Parker House Rolls and Skillet Coffee Cake for a wonderful start. My wife and I had burgers, each cooked to our preferences and absolutely delicious. Our guest tried the Shashouka. We came with great expectations. We left fully satisfied and ready to wander along the main street and enjoy the surrounding shops. We will go again and encourage others to try them as well.

Location is great. Decor is very minimal but seating is very comfortable. Nice wait time between courses. We ordered oysters and tuna tartare, salad and Orecchiette. Next short ribs and ravioli. We ordered cornbread and it was forgotten and came out about the time we were done with our food. We took it to go. Food was delicious. Definitely a place for a special occasion.

The location is lovely, the service was perfect, and our apps and entrees were great. The dessert (pecan pie) was pretty disappointing - seemed like a pre-made or store bought dessert. It'd be great if they added some non-alcoholic drink option, too!

Food and service was extraordinary. Thought background jazz music would be more suitable to a restaurant of this caliber, and not up tempo, fairly loud music. This is suggested as an improvement, and does not take away from the food and service. Serving area could also be improved, in my opinion, by including more fabric or other sound reducing materials. Generally, a fantastic experience I would recommend for a special evening, which ours was.

Service was lovely and just the right balance between attentive and giving us privacy. We went for a quiet date night and it certainly started out that way with an early seating. Shrimp and ravioli courses were divine. The pasta was like a pillow full of ricotta covered in pesto and toasted pine nuts. By far our favorite course. Parker house rolls did not disappoint. The main course steaks and the toffee cake dessert were delicious. We will be back!

I took my wife to brunch for her birthday. All of the staff from when we entered until we left were friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed all three courses and were extremely pleased with how good everything tasted and the service. We did not feel rushed at all and courses did not come out until we were done with the previous one. We highly recommend Thacher and Rye.
