Overall first and second course were alright. The sticky toffee pudding was absolutely delicious!! Will crave that dish for a long time!

We had 2 first courses, 1 entree. First courses: Tuna crudo was good, not excellent. The flavor was nice but not very bold. Beef carpaccio was tasty but rather small serving. The entree was Striped Bass (locally known as Rockfish). This was delicious, cooked perfectly, seasoned well and the two accompaniments were excellent. We also had a side of fries with our entree (we had to remind the server to bring them). They were fresh and hot but not as good as the Volt fries. Different cut and no delicious aerated cheese ☹Service was good but felt a bit rushed. The cocktails were good (but weren't as "crafted" as what I expect for a $12 drink). I miss On The Fly, it was my favorite cocktail in Frederick. I miss Volt! The service was a bit more polished back then. This time I was waiting for someone to take my coat, never happened (maybe this is a Covid thing). Overall, for service, value, cocktail choice and food quality I would choose Tasting Room for a fancy meal next time.

Thanks to covid, dining out is a little different. We did outside seating on a chilly night but the heaters kept us warm and comfortable. Great company. Great food. Great service. Some what distanced. What more can you ask for. Well worth the bill.

The food was spectacular! I really enjoyed the uni rice! I think that was my favorite on the menu. The drinks are handcrafted and also spectacular! The service was outstanding and we were seated in the outdoor area. Even though it was cold, they had plenty of heaters going to make you feel comfortable. Please give my regards to the chef and his team for cooking a wonderful meal! We thoroughly enjoyed it!

A perfect meal for an anniversary dinner. Beautiful room and a table near the window, allowed us to look at the lights on the street. The services was impeccable. Hope to be back for other celebrations.

We loved everything we tried! We had oysters, rigatoni, and the short ribs. The mashed potatoes with the short ribs were to die for. I can't wait for another reason to come back and try more. Great outdoor seating with heaters.

Last night, we had a special occasion meal for the first time since March, and it was well worth it. The puffer fish, and rye bread with Carolina trout, were full of flavor. The feeling of eating for enjoyment and not to stuff oneself happened. T&R was as safe and comfortable to dine in as can be in these COVID-19 times. Our server, Mackenzie, was attentive and guided us along in what to eat and drink. We will aim to dine again at T&R.

Celebrating Biden Harris victory and birthday week. Food was excellent, service was wonderful. The duck rillettes was awesome, a must get, tower seafood was brilliant. Nice to have Chef Brian back. Thanks for an incredible meal.

The new Volt . More moderate menu and prices . Makes them more competitive but they still send out tasty , well prepared food and overall nice atmosphere. For outdoor dining they dolled up a tent and heaters and nicely separated tables . Felt indoors even though outdoors. Good job! I’d recommend-it’s Family Meal just a bit more upscale

The latest iteration of Voltaggio's former Volt needs some work. Service was spotty. The new menu is not well curated. Small plates, sharing plates and large plates, which were hard to discern. We over-ordered and left too much on the table, a costly mistake. Some of the dishes arrived luke-warm or cold. Glad to see some former Volt home-runs like the layered lasagna. We'll likely return in hope these issues are corrected.

Fantastic meal for our 1st Wedding Anniversary from start to finish. Everything was incredible, from the service to the food. The restaurant itself was clean, quiet, and beautiful. The measures that Chef Voltaggio and his staff have in place for safety were seriously impressive. Our server Dustin was engaging and more than happy to guide us through our questions. The short rib was the very best I’ve ever eaten and the sticky toffee dessert was a pure joy from first bite to last. Well done; there aren’t enough stars for me to give this a proper rating.

Amazing experience. We came from Philly for the weekend with T&R as our primary destination. Made a reservation a few days ahead of time and got a prime table in the small room with the open kitchen. Our server Dustin was outstanding, and even sold us on a bottle of Maryland Vidal Blanc that was in fact delightful and paired well with our meals. My wife and I really enjoyed everything, from the experience to the dessert. Thanks for a wonderful meal and making our covid road trip to Frederick worthwhile!

Thatcher and Rye was overall a good experience. For the amount of money paid, the experience should have been amazing! We started off a few drinks and the spent grain rye bread for the table. The beef carpaccio from the first course section. Both were very delicious and we would highly recommend.

We then ordered the rigatoni and lasagna from the second course section. The rigatoni seemed to be a basic box pasta with miso soaked hen of the woods mushrooms. The mushrooms were by far the highlight of that dish. The lasagna definitely had the smokey flavor from the brisket and the noodles were very thin, homemade, melt in your mouth delicious. The portion was smaller than expected but that was okay since we ordered 3 courses.

The entrees ordered were short rib and the halibut. The halibut was cooked perfectly with a crispy, golden brown top that paired nicely with the curry broth and sweet potatoes. The short rib was sadly underwhelming and not at all what was expected. The short rib was cooked similar to a steak. So instead of the fall apart short ribs I am normally used to, this short rib was chewy, fat not completely rendered and the side of potato purée was bland and flavorless.

When the manager came around and asked us how the meal was we explained the same as above. He was quick to say “let us make it up to you with dessert”. We thought how nice he was because we were just being honest and not really looking for anything free. We were quickly presented with the chocolate caramel mousse and pear sorbet. Both were delicately delicious!

After, it was very clear that the manager didn’t tell our waiter the conversation we had since we received our bill with both desserts. Not a huge deal but communication should be a little better among the staff. And would have loved the chef to come explain why the short rib is cooked that way.

Our meal was excellent! Our main wait staff person sold the food and extras, also helped with pairings of drinks. She really helped us with decisions by describing the food with delectable adjectives. The food was pricy, but well worth it. Because of COVID we did not feel comfortable eating indoors. The outdoor was in a covered tent and the heaters were not working so it got very cold very quick.

We loved everything about our dining experience at Thatcher & Rye. Our waitress was super friendly. The food was delicious and the portions generous. The outdoor seating area is quaint and the temperature was comfortable with lots of heaters spaced throughout the patio. Highlights were the lasagna and goat cheese raviolis!

Noise was a bit elevated as we were seated in the Chef’s room, which overlooked the chefs/staff. Not overly noisy, but about as expected. It was interesting to see how the kitchen was run. A bit pricey, about on par with Tasting Room/Wine Kitchen prices.

Terrific meal. Tuna Crudo was excellent, as was the halibut and the burger. Especially good cocktails with the harvest sour and sweater weather being favorites. Loved Volt, but enjoy the change.

My foodie husband loved the marbled short ribs and the potatoes were whipped to creamy perfection. The chicken was bland, but the kimchu was crunch and exotic. The presentation, service and ambiance was top notch. We highly recommend dining in the kitchen area for the full effect of "Top Chef All Stars". We always root for Brian : )

Absolutely amazing! Excellent service from Caitlin (hopefully I'm spelling that correctly!), and truly delicious food. We ate outside on a chilly night, but did not notice the cold due to the well placed and effective heaters. The beef carpaccio is a MUST TRY. So tasty! Excellent wine selection and cocktails as well, and easy / free parking. Will definitely go back!

I would absolutely recommend the restaurant. They have only been open for a couple of weeks but the food was outstanding and the service was trying to keep up. It is a great place to try if you had not made it to Volt before.

We were seated right away (had a reservation). Service was good but our server forgot to bring us the signature breadsticks and pimento cheese. We had the tuna crudo & duck rillettes for 1st course - both were AMAZING, 2nd course smoked brisket lasagna & Rigatoni both were good but rich so we didn’t finish either. 3rd course: Beef short ribs and Virginia Fluke - Both AMAZING! 4th course: sticky toffee cake & Pumpkin cheese cake again both delicious. Overall very nice meal. Our server was good but stretched a bit thin with so many tables.
