Good food, no cheap. Waitress lack luster
Our group had a great time! The bbq was excellent. We shared the regular sized meat platter. It easily could have fed 4-5 people. We all went home with leftovers. Our waiter was also great.
The beef brisket, which is this place's signature meat dish, was really poor. It was dry and lacking in flavor. Night and day compared to the brisket at Federalist Pig. Because of rave reviews for the brisket we ordered a lot of it.
The pulled pork was ok.
The ribs were very good.
The Texas sausage was meh.
The mac and cheese and baked beans were average.
The food was amazing but we had some issues. The manager was beyond nice. I would return.
We like Texas Jack's BBQ as it is convenient and has good food. We take all of our visiting guests here as I think that it is outstanding value!
It's been several months since our last visit to Texas Jack's; that was an off evening for Texas Jack's. This past visit went smoothly. The service was friendly and the food was good. Often overlooked is that dinner at Texas Jack's can be a good value.
Went for my birthday. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Smoked meats excel. All loved the wings (buffalo and barbecue). Tried the beef short rib which was huge (great leftovers). Wonderfully moist and tasteful brisket. Wife loved her quarter chicken and her mom loved the pulled pork Kids enjoyed the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. Wish there were more sauce options (just two), which is perhaps the weak spot for Texas Jacks (and good but not great mac and cheese). Yes, in case you can't tell, we had too much to each, but as I noted great left overs. Good cocktails and beer list (for the adults).
BEST BARBECUE IN DC METRO AREA.
We made this choice based on the Washington Post's 2018 review of best BBQ places in the Washington area. The review focused only on brisket which was rated very highly; we ordered a full rack of ribs. The rack of ribs was nicely prepared, seasoned, and presented, smokey and meaty; the mac and cheese was fine but nothing special; the baked beans were ok but dry (like being left in a pot way too long dry); and the brussels sprouts, which were represented as deep fried but were neither crispy or infused with a deep fried flavor--were a disappointment. Sides were pricey for the sizes of the servings and quality. A rating of "Good" is as good as it will get for this dinner.
Took a group of 8 here for a birthday brunch, 10/10 recommend! We all did the all you can eat and the server recommended doing a "family-style" instead of all ordering off the menu, meaning they brought you a variety of options and if you wanted specific things you requested as you go, the food was amazing and the service was awesome!
Definitely will be back!
Was great food, service was good, but wish the menu was larger
We LOVE Texas jacks. I tell everyone I meet it’s the best BBQ this side of the Mississippi, but really it could be the best on either side! Excellent service, great selection of drinks and sides, and perfect BBQ. It looks kinda small like a hole in the wall from the outside but inside is HUGE with authentic decorations that really get you in the mood for BBQ. 5 stars!
All hard surfaces; chairs are not very comfortable. Noise level at dinner makes conversation almost impossible. Not very good non-meat options. Other BBQ places that are highly rated, such as ZZQ in Richmond, offer "real" entree options for non-meat eaters.
We have a group of friends who go out to dinner every Tuesday. This is one of our favorites!
Best ribs on the East Coast. Sides are great too. Free valet solves the parking problem. Wish it were less noisy
Parking was a dog and dangerous to get out. Many Arlington County no parking signs in the lot which the staff told us to ignore.
Baby ribs were fatty, pricy and redolent of smoke sauce. Noisy even when 3/4 empty. Ambiance of a sterile diner. Majority of patrons obese! Wonder why!
Miss the terrific fare from the old Tallulah’s. As for ribs, You can do better at the Grand Carlisle café down the street in Shirlington.
Food was great and service was great also, just an amazing place to hang out Fridays or family
Our waiter, Brian, went out of his way to make our first experience at Texas Jack's a great one. Great service and great food! Can't wait to go back and can't believe it took us so long to try it. We tried the brisket, sausage, pulled pork and turkey. Also had the kale Caesar salad. My son had the fries (probably my least favorite thing). For dessert we had the banana pudding and chocolate decadence. Would reorder the exact thing again. Loved everything we had.
Great BBQ and sides, the service was fast and friendly. Bar area was filled with TVs showing college football, will go again.
My husband loves BBQ so we decided to try it out. We shared a meat sampler platter, all the meats were notable. Most tender smoked chicken I've ever had! I will be back for the AMAZING Brussels sprouts! Recommend adding a specialty root beer to the non-alcoholic drink options, pairs well with BBQ, but Barques is fine if that's all you have.
Great price for a half pound of brisket, the smoked whiskey sour, the best.
Outstanding barbecue joint!
Brisket, pork ribs, and links were the best I’ve tasted outside Texas.
Beef short rib was a special treat and worth the experience. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Great place and BBQ is amazing!! Large portions, you always need to to go bag!!!!
Food was good, but it took a long time to get out. We ordered all you can eat and expected food to come out as it was ready and not all at once.
Amazing food and great service
Fabulous food! Loved the brisket, hands down the best. Yummy sides (mac n cheese and Mexican corn) and friendly service were excellent too. Will be back!
Overall good experience. I've visited once for brunch and once for happy hour and I prefer the happy hour/dinner selections. The brunch food was fine - it came out within 10 minutes of ordering and on the smaller portion size, but they offer an unlimited option if you are feeling hungry. They seem to be accommodating for larger groups at brunch. There were several groups of 6+ tables when we visited and may have been why our table for two wasn't visited as much. Not sure if I would return for brunch, but I would go back for a dinner or happy hour.
Well-deserved reputation for being one of the best barbecue restaurants in the area.
Ordered the half rack of pork ribs and they came stacked 3-on-3 and the top ribs looked great but the bottom 3 were fatty and small. Both BBQ sauces in the table (Original & Spicy) tasted the same vinegary taste. I did like the Brussel sprouts and someone ordered the nachos with pulled pork and those were amazing. Had to ask the waiter for extra queso and the 1/2 pound brisket seemed less than that. Was very busy and the noise level made it difficult to talk to the people at our table.
Watch out - the "two-door nachos" can fill you up and leave you no room for your brisket! ;)
We love the bbq meat options, the esquites, the cocktails, the collards! On Monday nights there is a real deal, half price on the meat platter. We weren't there on a Monday this time, but wanted to take a friend who is a bit of a picky eater. She loved it - ordered a kale salad, but kept picking at our pulled pork and ribs, too! We prefer to sit in a booth in the bar area, as it is usually a bit quieter - the main room has a lot of hard surfaces, so the acoustics favor a louder atmosphere. Plus, usually there are few or no children in the bar area (nothing against kids, but many parents do not do as we did, when ours was small, to remove them at the first peep that might disturb other diners). We come here every two or three months, and always say when we leave that we should come more often. Great food and we have always had very good service.
Yum. Best BBQ in NoVa. the thing about TJ's is that while there are several good options for smoked/BBQ meats, the differentiation here is in the sides....most places do good meat and then serve it with sad bagged fries and cole slaw from a bucket. Not here! I could almost just eat a plate of sides but the brisket and pulled pork are such melty buttery smokey goodness.
Amazing food and exceptional staff.
This was the best BBQ in DC I've ever had and the service was excellent. Be sure and get the mac and cheese, lean brisket and turkey!
Meat was very dry and cold. really disappointed. Read ranked #1 in DC, no where near that. Had ribs and brisket, without bbq sauce there would have been no flavor. sorry but fact.
It was the best food I had ever had love the burger
Best BBQ I’ve ever had!
The staff was very accommodating when we asked to increase our party size. Our service was awesome and made great recommendations for drinks and how much food to order for our table. I've dined here in the past but our friends haven't so it was nice to introduce them to a place that wowed them. Rock it out Texas Jack's!
