Texas Jacks Barbecue

I saw online that Texas Jacks puts cheese on the brisket sandwich, which wrecks it, but we were chatting when I made my order and I totally blanked on that. I suggested to the waitress that she'd do well in taking orders for the brisket sandwich to ask customers whether they want that gooky cheese on it. so that you can solve the problem. I will tell you emphatically that it ruined my lunch. You obviously ignored the reviewer who complained about it. Very much enjoyed the experience, since I was in good company. My friend said he ordered the brisket platter to avoid the cheese. I'm surprised that I have to write this.
Brisket was excessively salty and I always put salt on my food. Disappointed since WAPO gave it top ranking.
Food, drinks, and service (once it got going) were great, but we were bummed to learn they had run out of all the meat menu options except pulled pork by 8:30pm.
Food was great - the St. Louis ribs were amazing!! Good beer and bourbon selection!
Following a Washington Post review of Texas Jacks Barbecue, which rated it #1, my wife and I paid it a visit. The location on Washington Boulevard is convenient, though at the time we arrived (Saturday, about 5:15p), parking in the area was quite limited.
Inside, we noted that the "ambiance" was relaxed, and the sound level almost too loud to have a quiet conversation.
All of that said, service, food presentation and quality were excellent. Though the variety on the menu was somewhat limited, everything we ordered (I loved the pork ribs!) was very well prepared.
Texas Jacks Barbecue should not be missed. It's a really nice place to eat, especially if you have tix for a show "downtown", since there's close easy access to I395.
Excellent as always!
Brisket was pretty good, everything else was fairly tasteless or felt overpriced. Few options or ability to customize what you wanted to get.
The inability to get meat platters for a single serving of meat was unusual.
Food and service both top notch. It was lunch on a weekday, so we were able to have a conversation easily as the noise level was low. This is one of my go-to places.
I made brunch reservations for our friend’s birthday this past Sunday - the food & drinks were delicious, and the service was top notch - our server Riley was exceptional!
The Saturday’s night ribs were cold and this is shame. The waitress was very annoying and we had the feeling that she was counting every minute we stayed in the restaurant.
As always, it was a great experience going to Texas Jack’s. I’m from Texas, and it’s easily my favorite BBQ place in DC. The brisket and the pulled pork are tried and true staples, with the Brussels sprouts as an absolutely amazing hidden gem. We sat at the counter and watched them prepare the meals, and get the meat ready, which I also recommend. It was heartbreaking through to watch them through the burnt ends away and bones that could have made excellent bone broth... I would highly recommend you eat here!
Awesome food! Service was decent. A little slow, but we were a party of 9. All their bbq is GF too!
Foods good, overpriced. Manager and staff appeared to be inconvenienced by my party. Felt like it was an imposition to ask for napkins, water and food from the menu’s.
Food is tasty but atmosphere/staff could use some tweaking to have ambiance match price point of meal. (Too expensive of a meal to have staff treat you like crap)
Brisket great as always!
A must try family and friends’ experience! Parking a bit jammed but fair price for the food!
Food was good with some new BBQ type items I hadn’t seen before. Service was great not sure if web site advises only valet parking or street parking. If not it should. Had a nice night and we will come back
I have been to Texas Jacks Barbeque/Arlington before, so when my guests from Japan wanted to try American BBQ, I took them to the best -- Texas Jacks, of course. The food & service were excellent. We started with brisket nachos & wings, followed by large platter of meat and a bunch of sides. With the exception of the chicken, which was slightly too dry for my taste (no one complained though), the 'medley' of smoked/BBQ meat was moist & delicious. Wonderful! Highly recommended.
Great BBQ. Brisket, collard greens, and Brussels sprouts were really good
The server was excellent very attentive
Great brunch options!!!!
Amazing brisket- as good as it gets outside of Texas. They know what they’re doing!
The service was wonderful but the food was mediocre. Frankly, it was way too salty for my taste.
Tremendous food, great atmosphere, and an intoxicating aroma from the moment you open the door. Texas Jack’s is the best BBQ in Arlington, VA. It is always the first dinner request when my out-of-town family visits.
First visit Happy Hour was amazing. We will definitely be back!!
My friend got 3 sides and liked all of them
Amazing service, especially with kids!
Decent bbq spot. Took over 10 min for the waiter to bring a menu. Sparse attn from the waiter all night. Food was decent but not outstanding. Fried chicken sandwich was great. Smoked chicken just so so. Good for an in and out spot and kidfriendly.
Short rib and brisket to die for
Good bbq. Good atmosphere.
Absolutely amazing food. Nachos are phenomenal! A must go!
Fantastic evening. Fantastic food.
Service was ok. Casual place.
Good food, but kind of pricey for what it is. Cool ambiance. Average service -- our waiter kept recommending the most expensive items on the menu to us.
Party of 8 - when making reservation one question was are you celebrating, which we were. No type of recognition made on the part of TJ. So I wonder why that question was asked.
Service was pretty slow, we had to speak to a manager.
Food is good, a bit pricey for bbq, but good. The food being good is why we had TJ cater our daughter and sons baby shower this past June.
Texas Jack's used to be the spot wherein I would go for BBQ. But lately, the food quality isn't worth the commute from downtown DC, the money, frustration and disappoint. Appetizers arrived at the table lukewarm. Sent them back to the kitchen. Returned to the table a bit warner. But not hot. Same temperature with the entrees. Sat idle for 15 minutes before a server came over to take a drink order. Refill arrived at the end of the meal. Never offered BBQ sauce. Walked over to an empty table to retrieve the BBQ sauce. Restaurant wasn't busy; in fact lots of empty tables. This experience explains why the food I've ordered through Uber Eats was cold. It left the restaurant lukewarm. So when it arrived at my home, it was cold.
The brisket was really salty and pretty fatty. I loved the ambiance. Maybe I'm spoiled from living in Georgia for so long, but the food was just generally okay - not impressive. Definitely edible, but I wouldn't go again.
Food was delicious and service was outstanding! A little pricey but the food was worth it
Texas Jack's has solid bbq, great wings, and an AMAZING value for happy hour
Good food - ala Carte pricing - side dishes expensive
The wings are amazing. Smoked meat combo was okay and the multiple flies hovering around the table was a turn off for the meal.
My favorite BBQ restaurant in the NOVA area—all the smoked meats are great—brisket and pulled pork are my favorite. Excellent potato salad too.
