Got the brisket nachos. They were delicious beyond belief.
I made a reservation; however it wasn't honored. The manager reported an unanticipated rush, so we had to wait. We were eventually seated in what appeared to be a private event space with a few other patrons. Our server started out doing pretty well; however when the other patrons finished and cleared out, we were seemingly forgotten. We were given complimentary dessert as a result of this. The bbq was pretty good. I had pork spare ribs and my bf had the brisket.
I had dinner with son and his friend. We appreciated the valet parking on arrival. Food was excellent Son had full chicken, friend had beef brisket and I had pulled pork. All very pleased. I was especially pleased when I received the bill.....VERY Reasonable!!!! We shall return.
Very disappointed. We found the meat dry & tough for the most part. Only the sausage was cooked well. I didn't care for the seasoning but the texture should have been spot on. I did notice that the table next to us had meat that looked more inviting. Since we were on the early side for dinner service, I'm guessing we were served from earlier batch. The sides were tasty & service was good.
Texas Jacks is one of our regulars so it always hits the mark. I noticed this time that the dessert menu had changed from the bite sized mason jar desserts to just pies. Although it may be a good idea and a change from the norm, the mason jar desserts are preferred. The chocolate mousse pie I had was topped with marshmallows which gave the mousse/marshmallow a strange texture. Also the bottom crust was so crispy I had to use a knife to cut through it. The mason jar desserts were just better tasting. Please bring them back.
There’s nothing better than delicious BBQ in a relaxed environment with fantastic service. Four of us (including a very observant and selective nine-year-old) enjoyed an early dinner here on New Year’s Eve. The BBQ was spot on, each side was freshly prepared and delicious and the beer selection had a nice range. We will definitely be back!
PS the bar area is fantastic. I kind of wish I lived within walking distance because I can definitely see myself being a regular here.
Everything was good except that the food was cold and dry when they served it.
This was our second time at Texas Jacks, with some items the same and a few new ones. Our favorites are the brisket, pulled pork, and smoked turkey. The ribs on this night alternated between very dry and too fatty, and our least favorite both times was the sausage. Compared to the other meats, the sausage lacked depth in both flavor and texture. Our favorite sides were the brussel sprouts, green beans and the corn dish. We found the collard greens too salty. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful on both of our visits.
Excellent food. Great service. Will definitely dine again.
Our first time! THE MOST delicious brisket...equally impressive Mac and cheese, pulled pork nachos and margaritas! We were there on a very, very busy night (did everyone read the Washington Post article or TJ’s is always popular for happy hour?) however; the service was superb and efficient. Looking forward to our next visit to try a different menu item. Aren’t we lucky to have this restaurant in Arlington?!
Met friends from college we don't get to see often. Folks were gone for the holidays. Had way too many drinks hence the high noise rating. Way too many shots, hence the low value rating. The food n service was excellent. Beer tap could be better. Apparently we killed 3 beer tap. We might off. Don't remember much except the food was delicious! Happy Holidays everyone.
This visit was for their weekend brunch. A nice selection of small plates. Best biscuits and gravy in the area - and trust me, I’ve tried most of them! Surprised at how empty it was - once people catch on that they offer brunch, it should really take off though
The wings, which we have loved there, were a bit dried out. The brisket was tender, but the queso for the sandwich was overkill
We have always loved Texas Jacks. I chose to go for my birthday and everything! The server was checked out, and it was impossible to get any support. We asked the hostess for support just to get another glass of water. We would have ordered more drinks. We left a note on the receipt. We still left a tip since we like this place.
We tried to order catering and was told we would get an email confirmation, but nothing. We called and confirmed. So, no harm no foul. Trying to give another chance.
But, then when we got our order for Christmas Eve, we received the worse slices of beef brisket possible. At least 75 percent fat. We really want to have the old Texas Jacks back. We can only guess that the staff decided pay back was the way to go.
Now, we feel like we have lost our go to place. What a shame!
Disappointing meal. After an icy greeting, we waited ten minutes for a server to appear. Sadly, we had an absent server in a half filled restaurant. Following a long wait, the food was not served hot, but at room temperature. After finishing, we sat for a long while with no attention at all. Could be so much better, but how sad. Third disappointing try and we will not return.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, comfortable and family-friendly
It was a nice place and you get a lot for your money however the brisket and pork was ok. Loved the cornbread, Brussels sprouts, and dessert - delicious.
We love this place. Food and service is outstanding ! Whenever we’re in the area we’re sure to stop in. Highly recommended!
Texas Jacks' crew was ready for the 7 of us and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and service we received.
BBQ brunch completely done right.
I took banana pudding home for late night snack; it does no disappoint.
Parking, deal with it; it’s Arlington, but any small parking problem is swept away with food and ambiance.
Best brunch we had in years, god menu options and the meat was on point.
The service was a bit slow and some items were cold but overall it’s a thumbs up. Best hangover food
The cost of $37 for a full rack of ribs was steep, especially considering the sides were Ala Carte
Good for brunch, it has an a la carte as well as buffet option. We went with the a la carte and drinks, and the food came out quick, service was prompt, and both the drinks and food were consistently good throughout our time during brunch.
The brisket is good, but I think the pulled pork is even better. The biscuits they make are the best thing on the menu -- flaky, tender (and the gravy they make is also stellar). The only negative was the cole slaw, which was kind of blah. However, overall, this is a nice place to eat and to watch sports in the bar area.
One of the best BBQ places I have ever been. This place is a must visit!!!
Our first time to Texas Jacks - we've been wanting to go for quite a while. It did not disappoint !! The food was outstanding the service friendly and extremely helpful. We can't wait to return again..and again.....
Fantastic ambiance; friendly, attentive service. Excellent meats and outstanding sides. We had a great time!
The food was subpar for the price. I have tried a few barbecue restaurants in the area and they all had either 3 or higher Stars. Honestly I was very disappointed.
Amazing service and the best BBQ!
Delicious Thanksgiving. First time, and two of us tried it all. Pulled pork nachos were honestly some of the best nachos I've ever had (and as a lifelong Southern Californian, I frequently bemoan the lack of good Mexican food out here). St. Louis beef rib was almost 2 lb, and literally fell off the bone. Cooked 17 hours, and so tender and well-seasoned I wanted to take home a week's worth. Corn esquites - flavorful, will order it every time. Mashed potatoes - please add them to the regular menu! They were hot, soft, delicious potato clouds for my mouth! Brussels sprouts - lots of pancetta and parmesan, so more tolerable than most Brussels, but still Brussels; will probably try something else next time. Pork spare ribs were tender and meaty, but not fall-off-the-bone like the St. Louis rib. And the smoked turkey breast was my one attempt to be healthy, and I wish I'd ordered the brisket or pulled pork instead (I mean, why get turkey breast at BBQ? Duh). We only ate about a third of the food, took the rest home, and added some to-go pecan pie and banana cream pie to the mix, which were great, too. The banana cream pie was topped with Nilla Wafers to go along with the graham crust, and the pecan pie had a nice mix of caramel custard with crunch pecans. I can't wait to return.
Excellent service and good food. The server was very friendly and excellent timing.
We’ve eaten here many times and the food has always been very good. Saturday may have been an off night for the kitchen, but everything was dry. The brisket was extremely dry (we should have sent it back!). The beans and even the Mac and cheese were dry. Luckily, the pulled pork, brussel spouts and corn were very good.
Food was great! The restaurant is a bit loud but the service was good!
Food had no flavor and was cold. Had to drown meat in sauce to taste anything.
We had a celebration of life dinner with friends and family. The waitresses were very attentive. The food was great. We had a great time.
I saw online that Texas Jacks puts cheese on the brisket sandwich, which wrecks it, but we were chatting when I made my order and I totally blanked on that. I suggested to the waitress that she'd do well in taking orders for the brisket sandwich to ask customers whether they want that gooky cheese on it. so that you can solve the problem. I will tell you emphatically that it ruined my lunch. You obviously ignored the reviewer who complained about it. Very much enjoyed the experience, since I was in good company. My friend said he ordered the brisket platter to avoid the cheese. I'm surprised that I have to write this.
You can order the brisket sandwich without cheese...
Brisket was excessively salty and I always put salt on my food. Disappointed since WAPO gave it top ranking.
Food, drinks, and service (once it got going) were great, but we were bummed to learn they had run out of all the meat menu options except pulled pork by 8:30pm.
Food was great - the St. Louis ribs were amazing!! Good beer and bourbon selection!
