Great waitress, Maureen. Great food. Fun place
Tesse has been consistently good!
Food was delicious and the ambiance was great. Highly recommend!
Great service. But it’s really loud. If you want to have a fun time this is it. If you want intimate conversations then go during weeknights. I enjoyed the food a lot and the portions are generous. Everything was tasty and my fav was the lobster sausage.
Great for foodies and also such a fun atmosphere for gatherings. Did I mention the great wine list and cocktail list?
Everything was perfect Except the bill. definitely a once in a lifetime price.
The experience at Tesse exceeded my expectations...After walking by this restaurant after every workout at the nearby Runble , I finally decided to indulge in the French cuisine from Tesse I had heard so much about from friends. We had a chefs selection charcuterie plate followed by the buccatini with bone marrow and steak frittes and washed it all down with a 2009 Bordeaux they decanted for us - all at the bar! It was a fine dining experience even with the casual touch we were craving by sitting at the bar. Everyone was delightful, helpful, and knowledgeable. Loved!!
Perfect. No other words. It’s a must go
The food is nothing to brag about their appetizers are ok but main courses are low quality dinner food
One of the best restaurants that i have been. Everything was extremeley good!
It features share plates so best to order as a table. Food was ok. We didn’t have anything that we thought was wonderful. Our server was great - very helpful and attentive. Comprehensive wine and cocktails list. We had a fun and good dinner but I wouldn’t put this on my “must go back” list.
We waited 44 mins for the first dish to arrive after putting in our order, the food is barely acceptable for an average hotel lobby . Poached Eggs on our avo toasts came cold and when we mentioned it they said because they put it aside while waiting for the remaining dishes to complete “so we could all eat together “
I heard that last time at Buffalo Wild Wings
Outstanding service and menu it doesn’t get much better...
Been to Tesse several times. The food has been consistently fab and service as well. Big fan of the lobster sausage--delightfully different, The skirt steak and potato, all the pate's, the peach salad is good all year-round, and the octopus with squid ink. These are my favourite things. Go there and enjoy!
It was a first time that we had dinner at Tesse. I was expecting the food would be very delicious. The atmosphere was very noisy couldn't hear anything I was talking to my partner. Our food wasn't served what we order and they charge us for it. Our waiter Diana had excellent service no complain. If you go there their best dish was beef tartar!
Menu was appealing but food was D+. Drinks were fine...don't love the limited choices of bar drinks. Olive plate..two kinds of green olives..tasteless... with some olive oil and basalmic. Artichoke out of a jar and sardines out of a can. More olive oil and again tasteless. Burata and squash blossoms again tasteless and oily. Fish (Daurade) was very good but was mangled by the server. Nice ambience but we won't be back. Too bad because we live in the Bird Streets and are always looking for something good and consistent.
The service was outstanding, from the front desk, to the sommelier, and, most importantly, our server: professional, totally aware of where we were at during the meal.
Charcuterie: truly the best part of the meal. Next time I'll build the entire meal around this.
Pastas: Good but not memorable.
Wine: Great idea, buy the wine at their retail outlet next door with a $15 corkage fee. Very good deal.
Food was incredible. I know Tesse is touted for charcuterie, but the vegetarian options were also unreal. Exceptional service. Make sure to order the souffle!
Great food and environment. Everyone was super attentive and really appreciated the follow up call I got the next day. Next level service.
The gem salad lacked flavor and duck was very tough and chewy. Great ambiance and service.
Kate was a great sever. Really sweet and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, charcuterie board awesome, the peach salad was good too, only wish had a few more peaches. Tipsey Hussle cocktail all day
Drinks took too long. There was the cheese/sausage/pickle guy behind the bar who is likely mistaken for bartender all the time.
My favorite dish was the charred carrots.
John Dory was tasty but served in grandmas Pyrex. Seemed off given the other serving dishes.
Server and sommelier were top notch!
Birthday celebration with friends.
From the service to all of the food it was outstanding
I love the restaurant, but the food was not as good as it’s been in the past. I will try again in the future to see if the quality is still as high.
TRULY OUTSTANDING. One of the best restaurant experience I've had in LA for a long time.
Despite having an online reservation and arriving early to check in we still spent 20 min standing at the bar waiting to be seated. Might as well have walked in w/o a reservation
Ordered all the items at the start of dinner , waited 45 minutes for entrees after repeatedly being told
on the way. Finally server admitted it had not been prepared as yet. Requested check without entrees and left .
will not return
DineLA special menu, was expecting something better then this set of dosh...
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Tesse. Some of the dishes came recommends and they did not disappoint. Make sure you leave room for desert. Definitely worth it.
Extremely charming bar staff. Shocked that more people don’t eat at the bar.
Expansive menu made easier to navigate by staff recommendations.
Food was filling, nuanced, and lovely. Cocktails were also outstanding.
Tesse was reviewed on Spectrum TV. When I saw the Charcuterie plate and Bone Marrow Pasta I was hooked. The warm woods and spacious open windows make for a perfect ambiance. Our food server, Jacob, was exceptional. Being overwhelmed by a luscious menu he offered to work with the chef and make the decisions for us. The family style service was appealing so we could try more different types of food. We started with cocktails and Charcuterie - amazing! The meats were flavorful and the cheeses were perfectly selected. We started with the Hamachi Crudo, Peach Salad, and Bucatini with Bone Marrow - scrumptious! Next we had the John Dory "Au Plat" and Steak Frite Salad. Dessert was a Vanilla and Chocolate Souffle. Everything was just perfect! What a night - you must try this place!
The food is awesome and the owner is super nice, definitely will come back and recommend to my friend
Definitely would go back
We live directly up the hill from Tesse and we were looking for a restaurant near by. From the moment we walked into Tesse and were seated promptly and greeted by Andrew...our fantastic waiter....we knew that we had found a great new neighborhood restaurant.
Amazing service. Great wine list.
I really wanted to like this place but my friends and I were so disappointed. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile so when it came time for our friend’s birthday, I made reservations. I don’t know if something was off today but the food and service were both underwhelming and lacking. We ordered the caviar toast which was good but everything else unfortunately fell short. The crispy pig ears seemed like they had been over fried one too many times, the blue crab simplissimi had a really strong taste of star anise, we ordered the hamachi crudo and it was brought out to us twice, and the bone marrow bucatini was overly salted. We also ordered the floating island dessert midway though the meal per our server’s suggestion, so when it came out before our bone marrow, we were confused and asked what happened to our last dish. She had written down the bone marrow and claimed she thought someone else had brought it out.. umm?! She ended up taking the dessert back and to check on the bone marrow but when it came time for us to have dessert, the floating island was no longer available because the pastry chef wasn’t happy with the meringue. ?! At that point my friends and I were speechless and all we could do was laugh and try to make the best of the night. Our waters were filled and dishes were replaced throughout the evening which was nice but they only brought out plates for myself and one friend and not for my other friend. All these things just added up into an unsavory dining experience.
We appreciated the fact they didn’t charge us for one of the dishes due to the inconvenience and they brought out a complimentary dessert, but that unfortunately tasted burnt and we didn’t finish it:/ I really don’t like to leave negative reviews but I was so embarrassed I had picked this place for dinner. I am also in the hospitality industry so I understand that things happen, but this was just too many mistakes for one dinner.
Great food and menu would definitely go back
Great food amazing wine list
Will go back
Can be reasonably argued that Tesse is the best food experience in Los Angeles. From wine list to dessert fare and everything in between, Tesse is a near perfect curated affair. Long may it reign!
