Went here on a couples date before comedy store show. Great shared plates meal. Very laid back atmosphere. Blue crab, charcuterie, cauliflower, and mushrooms were our favorites. Would heavily recommend this place.
Tesse has a very rare combination of offering outstanding food and a very trendy/hipster crowd and vibe. Most restaurants on the Sunset Strip that are this energetic offer food that is mediocre or acceptable but nothing special. The food at Tesse is excellent, well-presented and generously portioned. Our table of 4 shared 6 dishes and we would have been fully satisfied without the last course (which still was excellent). Good service. Dishes come out as they are prepared so if formal coursing is important to you this might not be the place, but the atmosphere is so lively and fun that it's best to go with it.
Amazing place, charming and cozy. The food was amazingly good. Recommend 100%
Beautiful atmosphere and food was exceptional. Bar tender very knowledgable and friendly.
I absolutely love this restaurant! The food and ambiance are perfect and so were the cocktails. They even called me the day after to ask how my experience was - such a nice touch! Will be back again and again!!
The service, staff, wine, and food are 150% to die for. The overall experience is a MUST have.
Delicious food ! Happy to come 4th time! As usual ---food is incredible!
Food was amazing!
One of the best restaurants - Food is excellent! Wine is outstanding! Place is vibrant! Tesse is a MUST! The Hamachi Crudo is hands down the best I've ever had.
Superb food and wine selection in a slick, contemporary airy environment. One of my favorite WeHo and LA restaurants.
Great ambiance. Food was lackluster.
Love this restaurant. The staff is always excellent and the food delicious!
We loved the restaurant. A little noisy for us, but that seems to be the trend today. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and creative without being strange. The servers were friendly, energetic, and very helpful with making suggestions about the menu. They were definitely well trained. All in all it was a lovely experience and we look forward to going back. I have already told several of my friends that they should go.
I will preface this review by lauding the delicious food Tesse serves as bistro French with California style. Jidori chicken and creme brulee may be standards, but Tesse elevates them beyond anything you've had before.
However, Tesse is in the hospitality and service business. So, arrive at 5:27 pm and you will stand by the door before a hostess will seat you for your 5:30 pm reservation, only after you've proven your party has arrived and even then the couple behind you will be seated first. Not a great first impression. The restaurant is EMPTY, allow me to sit down after fighting LA traffic for an hour to arrive, honoring the reservation.
It seems Tesse has decided that the kitchen's convenience supersedes the customer's. After ordering, we are informed that the dishes will arrive in no particular order and we are expected to share, and therefore the entire order must be placed at one time. SERIOUSLY?
A short-order cook and the best kitchen in the world can produce delicious dishes in a specific order. Appetizers first, entrees after. What is so difficult? Fortunately, I think our waiter sensed our dissatisfaction and the kitchen managed to expedite our order accordingly. Still, this is a new trend that needs to die as does the kitchen's expectation that dishes be shared so they don't have to time service. Well, at these prices, I want a bit more effort. And I don't want to share.
Clearly, this is not a reflection upon the waitstaff but upon the kitchen. The waitstaff could not have been more solicitous, perhaps they recognize the dereliction of hospitality by management.
Loved our waiter. Excellent wine list. The hamachi crudo was beautiful and tasted great. The duck prosciutto in the bucatini was so good! I’d love to have some for my next charcuterie board. My venison was incredibly delicious! I was disappointed by the vanilla soufflé-it just tasted like a scrambled egg with vanilla sauce on it. Besides dessert, I’d give it a 5/5 stars all the way around!
I loved appetizers and dessert. Because of that, I didn't even try main course (took it home), three great appetizers for two people was more then enough to feel us up, especially because we wanted to have dessert. As I said everything that I was able to consume was great, especially Blue crab and vanilla soufflé's for dessert. Maybe it's too much to ask, but I would appreciate if waiter would worn us that 5 dishes for 2 not big ladies is too much. Have to mention that portions at this restaurant are very generous. Overall it was great and I looking forward to go back.
Food was absolutely terrible as was the service. Our server never once asked us how anything was. The cauliflower starter dish was a soggy mess and unsightly. I got the shrimp which was served (I kid you note) in a Pyrex dish. I felt like I was eating leftovers that had been heated up in the microwave. The shrimp was hard to eat, not filling at all and basically was a bowl of sweet broth with two shrimp and some soggy tarot chips that made me keep thinking I was eating the shells of the shrimp. So sad given the beautiful atmosphere. I honestly feel ripped off.
Dishes were tasty but Tesse is overpriced for what you get. $52 for 4 scallops, albeit fairly big ones?! Selling half-size glasses of wine is gimmicky, too. What seems reasonable (a $10-12 glass) is actually $20-24 for a regular glass. You’re told it’s a 3 oz pour, but your mind doesn’t automatically times thar by 2 to determine the true price. Nice and hip place but fairly noisy. Unless you’re lucky to get a booth, the tables are close to one another.
Service was slow. Took 35 minutes to get first course. Food was cold. Manager took away the cold food and return it on same plate after saying if they heated it again it would taste worse
The food is interesting and the ambiance is very cool but their practice of adding on 5% to the bill, instead of putting it into the actual menu price and then putting tax (and presumably tip) on top of that (so that 5% is taxed and included in what amount you would tip) left a bad taste in my mouth.
Superb ! You must try Tesse ! Food was amazing and different , great ambiance ... Best place we have tried in WeHo 🙌✨
We had an amazing experience at Tesse. From the moment we were seated until the end of our meal. We started with well crafted cocktails followed by a charcuterie board. The quality of food and cocktails were outstanding. We then had the hamachi which melted in our mouths, it was so fresh and delicious. We couldn’t miss the bucatini with bone marrow which did not disappoint. We ordered another pasta, the black truffle fettuccine which was to die for. We ended with the branzino and grilled vegetables with chili oil, it was also super fresh and yummy. We also ordered the pumpkin soufflé, which it was great in flavor but it needed a bit more texture. Overall our experience was great, staff was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend!
My party of 4 really enjoyed Tesse. Food was delicious. Loved the 3 oz wine pours so you can try different options. Glad they have gluten free bread and accommodated two gluten allergies. I’d definitely be back and would like to try option of getting wine in wine shop next door and opening it in restaurant for only $15. Didn’t have time for that on this visit.
Super impressed by the vibe, the service, and especially the menu with its variety of aesthetically pleasing appetizers, desserts, and even organ meats! They actually followed up with a phone call to make sure our experience was up to spec, which has literally NEVER happened to me before.
Highly recommend: veal sweetbreads, duck egg crème brûlée. Phenom!
The restaurant is gorgeous and the menu is fantastic. The cheese, duck pate, and bread were excellent. However, two of the three eclectic entrees missed the mark and this restaurant didn't meet my expectations. The Bucatini was as al dente you could get, too chewy for al dente, and it was made overly spicy so that you couldn't taste the subtleties of the dish. The calf liver had some great pieces that were cooked properly and some other pieces were either undercooked or too chewy to eat. Unfortunately we were asked how the plates were so quickly after trying the food we couldn't identify this so quickly. Looking at the kitchen, I think the mostly young Sunday evening chefs needed greater supervision from the head chef because Sunday night's food preparation was disappointing. The soufflé was fantastic.
Love this place; great food and a great location. It is our new favorite!
Blown away by everything here from the food, to the drinks, to the ambiance and especially the service. The service alone was the highlight of the night, but absolutely impressed with the food! Highly recommend for a date night or even a night with friends! The restaurant is perfect for any occasion! But again, the food was exceptional! We ordered the hamachi( amazing!!), the duck, the lobster sausage (unreal) , the bone marrow, the charcuterie board (made in house and soo fresh!!), and the caviar crackers (a must order !!)
I've eaten at Tesse almost weekly since it opened. Always a great meal and a fun night.
It was a great place to eat the food was delicious as well as the music taste. Service was great the food did take a bit longer but it made up in taste.
The experience exceeded our expectations!
We had a corner table and right next to it was a bucket with dirty water that busboys used to rinse their rags that are used to wipe the tables. I brought it to the attention of the manager and he told me that this wouldn’t bother him. Also, something was changed on the menu where now balsamic is used and I am very allergic to balsamic. And we had to ask the waiter three times to get ice for our water. We will never be back to this place
Rudish, snobby and slow service
Food not great, rather pedestrian, not worth it. ask for the cheese from the server , then the grater didn't work, he kept at it for a few minutes, then we both gave up. The artichokes we basic jarred artichoke hearts with a little italian dressing. bad.
The Bucatini with bone marrow was phenomenal - full of flavor and depth, and the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente!
Great food, service, location. The desserts are to die for though.
We wanted a french restaurant and that is what we search and Tesse appeared as it. It in NOT a French restaurant, the server wasn’t friendly, he didn’t did anything for the birthday and when we ask to take a picture of us he said that he was busy and will come later what he never did He lied about foie grass prohibited in California, that was a long time ago, today is allow. Food was poor, the pork was over cooked. You couldn’t find any french specials like escargots or a good foie grass or onion soup or even a simple entrecôte. The only good think was the wine.
We wont return
Perfect as always. What a gem!
Awesome couldnt fault anything food service value for money
The only issue was that even though we had a reservation it took them 50 mins to sit us
