Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Tesse. Some of the dishes came recommends and they did not disappoint. Make sure you leave room for desert. Definitely worth it.
Extremely charming bar staff. Shocked that more people don’t eat at the bar.
Expansive menu made easier to navigate by staff recommendations.
Food was filling, nuanced, and lovely. Cocktails were also outstanding.
Tesse was reviewed on Spectrum TV. When I saw the Charcuterie plate and Bone Marrow Pasta I was hooked. The warm woods and spacious open windows make for a perfect ambiance. Our food server, Jacob, was exceptional. Being overwhelmed by a luscious menu he offered to work with the chef and make the decisions for us. The family style service was appealing so we could try more different types of food. We started with cocktails and Charcuterie - amazing! The meats were flavorful and the cheeses were perfectly selected. We started with the Hamachi Crudo, Peach Salad, and Bucatini with Bone Marrow - scrumptious! Next we had the John Dory "Au Plat" and Steak Frite Salad. Dessert was a Vanilla and Chocolate Souffle. Everything was just perfect! What a night - you must try this place!
The food is awesome and the owner is super nice, definitely will come back and recommend to my friend
Definitely would go back
We live directly up the hill from Tesse and we were looking for a restaurant near by. From the moment we walked into Tesse and were seated promptly and greeted by Andrew...our fantastic waiter....we knew that we had found a great new neighborhood restaurant.
Amazing service. Great wine list.
I really wanted to like this place but my friends and I were so disappointed. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile so when it came time for our friend’s birthday, I made reservations. I don’t know if something was off today but the food and service were both underwhelming and lacking. We ordered the caviar toast which was good but everything else unfortunately fell short. The crispy pig ears seemed like they had been over fried one too many times, the blue crab simplissimi had a really strong taste of star anise, we ordered the hamachi crudo and it was brought out to us twice, and the bone marrow bucatini was overly salted. We also ordered the floating island dessert midway though the meal per our server’s suggestion, so when it came out before our bone marrow, we were confused and asked what happened to our last dish. She had written down the bone marrow and claimed she thought someone else had brought it out.. umm?! She ended up taking the dessert back and to check on the bone marrow but when it came time for us to have dessert, the floating island was no longer available because the pastry chef wasn’t happy with the meringue. ?! At that point my friends and I were speechless and all we could do was laugh and try to make the best of the night. Our waters were filled and dishes were replaced throughout the evening which was nice but they only brought out plates for myself and one friend and not for my other friend. All these things just added up into an unsavory dining experience.
We appreciated the fact they didn’t charge us for one of the dishes due to the inconvenience and they brought out a complimentary dessert, but that unfortunately tasted burnt and we didn’t finish it:/ I really don’t like to leave negative reviews but I was so embarrassed I had picked this place for dinner. I am also in the hospitality industry so I understand that things happen, but this was just too many mistakes for one dinner.
Great food and menu would definitely go back
Great food amazing wine list
Will go back
Can be reasonably argued that Tesse is the best food experience in Los Angeles. From wine list to dessert fare and everything in between, Tesse is a near perfect curated affair. Long may it reign!
Great food. Lovely ambiance.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Tesse. From food to the service and the decor.
Beef Tartar, Romaine Lettuce and Lobster Salads, Flat Steak and the Fig Upside down cake were fabulous. highly recommend them.
Wonderful food and high-quality experience.
Great restaurant! The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend.
Their pig ears and lamb neck was so delicious!
Vibe is good, service is ok, we were party of 6 and we placed the entire order for the night at one time. some entrees brought before appetizers and the last 2 main dishes were served about 45 minutes after the last dish that was served, keep in mind entire order was placed together. Frankly we could deal with food being served really late, but not when it is served late and @ $38.00 for half a chicken, granted it was "jidori" chicken, it was not cooked well and cold, then it doesnt matter what type of chicken, regardless of price. And as the steak, very chewy and loaded with salt.
Not saying this restaurant is bad, just saying, "watch out"
We had an excellent meal and the various wines we tried were fantastic. Our server, Kate, was knowledgeable and fun and made our evening even better. We have many more menu items to try, so we'll be returning soon.
I loved this place! I am also on a Keto diet and was so glad I got to enjoy a lot of stuff on the menu. Staff was fantastic as well.
Exceptional food and an amazing team make this an experience, not just a meal. The owner and chef and their entire staff stand out in the Los Angeles foodie scene. We can’t say enough good things about this beautiful and delicious French restaurant. Ask for recommendations for each course and wine pairings for an even more enhanced experience.
Go for Sally Camacho’s desserts! Like no other. 5 stars.
It is all great, the quality of the food is great, but I am not pleased by the limitations of the brunch menu.
In order for a restaurant to get five stars, it must be very unique and I believe that is what Tesse is. Tesse is a neighborhood gem. It is an exceptional restaurant with an exceptional menu and food and a great wine selection. It has a great vibe and the staff is very friendly, energetic and attentive. We were six couples and decided to let our server pick the food for us, in other words we followed Brian Dennehy (the food critic) lead from Disney’s Ratatouille and told our server to “surprise us”. Needless to say, we had a great experience and everything that was served was tasty. And yes, after dinner came the desserts. AWWWWW can only be used to explain them, they were amazing; definitely try fig upside down cake, the chocolate and vanilla souffles, chocolate sphere, duck egg brulee, floating island, and peach melba puff.
Will never go back. Overpriced small plates. Two were good. Sardines tasted old and were undercooked. Took forever to get a side order of onion rings. How hard is it to fry onions???
Delicious food, teeny tiny baby portions, which came out way to slowly, so all value is lost.
It was just awesome
This is fantastic restaurant on the Sunset Strip.
The food was fantastic. Jake was our server and he made great recommendations on food and wine. The blue crab was phenomenal, the buggatini with bone marrow is a must have.
All great, the menu keeps changing so if you have favorites hurry back they might be gone
Excellent new trendy restaurant on Sunset next to AKA. Very cool design, friendly but professional servers and excellent excellent food. Family style but portions are large, be careful not to over order. Better to save room for dessert. Great bar menu, wine offered by 3 ounce serving allows tastings and whisky is excellent and not over priced.
I’m not a fan of team servers but they make it work. It also gets a little load when restaurant is busy but that’s typical in LA.
Overall a really good restaurant I’d recommend trying.
My guests and I have enjoyed both social and business dinners at Tesse. The hamachi, beef tartare, cauliflower and chicken liver spread are our favorite starters. The bone marrow bucatini and pork chop are perfect for foodies. The chocolate soufflé is the best ending with the homemade “dipping dots”. Perfect for any occasion with innovative well executed dishes.
The food and the service were on par with what are now Michelin star restaurants in Los Angeles. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and great service given that there were not too many reviews as of yet. We will definitely be returning to Tesse.
Beautiful restaurant. Delicious food, wonderful wines, excellent service. We love Tesse and we dine there frequently. We particularly enjoy the John Dory fish preparation and we love the Chocramel for dessert. The pates are delicious and they sometimes serve their pickled vegetables that we really enjoy.. The lamb dish is fantastic.
great location, nice ambiance, the place is definitely the latest happenings in LA scene. Service was great, appetizer portions are large enough to share for 4 people each. Liver parfait was amazing, the crab dish was unreal, steak tartar was as good as in Paris if not better. the entrees were not as exciting particularly the fish ones; only order sardines if you were raised eating them!
soufflé vanilla was out of this world. Will definitely come back again!!
It was great. They poured liquor into my wife’s mouth through a bone
we enjoyed the food and the service. the maitre'd gave us the table we wanted. our waitress was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. the charcuterie was to die for (not enough bread but they brought us some more when requested), the cauliflower seasoned and cooked to perfection, the lamb melted in my mouth and the magret de canard (duck breast) was served medium rare, just the way I like!
however, the noise level was unnerving. if loud is synonymous to energy then it was the room was in a perpetual exploding mode. to each his own. for me, the sound level was bothersome.
Had a overall excellent experience at Tesse. The food was really interesting, tasty, very well presented and the overall atmosphere, vibe and excellent service make it well worth the cost of entry. I'd recommend it most for a double date or group of 4 cause the booths are really cozy and variety of food makes it better that you can order more choices. The souffle is worth the hype.
On the whole a wonderful mean with great service. The acoustics are pretty bouncy so the noise level is pretty high. Everything we had was delicious with interesting flavor combinations and profiles except fro one dish, which was recommended by our server unfortunately (he was right about everything else and gave great wine advice). It was the Bucatini with Bone Marrow which was decidedly bland and unexciting compared to everything else we ordered. A small blemish on an otherwise great evening.
Food is alright. Nothing crazy for the price. Service is good. They charge 5% fee in what they claim will go to pay for the employees salaries which I find a little distasteful.
The food & atmosphere here are amazing, as is the location on Sunset, trying to bring back the "hayday" era (kinda like an industrial retro mod look). Brady, our server, was friendly & engaging. He made it seem like he wanted us to be there.
