We offer an inspired and innovative menu. Taking tradition Italian, French, and Spanish dishes and using only the finest seasonal produce, local products and specialty or artisanal items from local or imported sources, we have created an extensive menu containing selections ranging from shared plates and appetizers to home made pastas and exciting main dishes. Our menus change with the seasons and there are truly "specials" on offer every night.
We apologize, but our dining areas do not accomodate Highchairs, Booster Seats, or Strollers.
This is our neighborhood go to place for dinner and we always bring our friends who love Tessa. The food and menu is spectacular and service is always spot on. The ambiance is upscale and appreciate the prompt seating when arriving. We always feel at home when dining ant Tessa. Thanks
Excellent food, very busy but efficient, courteous and knowledgeable staff. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks
Overrated for expense
Complaint about overly bitter inedible broccoli rabe greeted with an “ok” and smile by waitress. No apology and will inform the chef
Sea bass entree size extremely small
Needed to remind waitress of wine order and request for lemon
Very loud foursome within inches of us (crowded place) and request to move over one table greeted with notable hesitancy. Thank goodness the busboy intervened not the waitress
Overall, would not return
Had a great dinner with my husband before heading to the Beacon for a show. Had a 7 pm res and was seated promptly. Food was delicious (I'm still thinking about that octopus appetizer and the truffle fries). It has a great romantic vibe but not uptight. I also appreciate that our server suggested us putting in our full order up front so the kitchen could stagger it in time for us to make our show. We were able to eat leisurely and still make it in plenty of time. I don't get out much, but I would definitely go back.
Great food and great service
One of the gems in the UWS
It saddens me that I wouldn't be so inclined to recommend Tessa at this time. Something has changed there. We have been going there for many years since they have arrived in our neighborhood and have spent the last four years New Years celebration there and have always loved their food and service. Unfortunately they were off their game this New Year's Eve.
Tessa was amazing! Went with 6 friends for a pre-NYE dinner and had an awesome time. Our waitress was attentive and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
Great value on 2009 Tempranillo.
Pasta was tasty.
Our 7th time here , always enjoy . Great cocktails and food. Close to our music venue. (Beacon
Definitely give a try, won’t be disappointed
If you like cold eggs benedict, this is the place for you. Eggs and holandaise were tepid, smoked salmon was ICE COLD. Not my idea of a great brunch on a winter's day.
Terrific spot for brunch, especially with a group of 8 people with disparate eating habits. The menu offered options for everyone, and prices were reasonable. Service was friendly, food was yummy. Drinks were a bit disappointing, but they were also relatively inexpensive.
Wonderful service! I’ve been here several times now with friends, etc. However, I was super turned off by their steak and frites this time. First off, they garnish / top the steak with fried onions (and other things) to add flavor?? Secondly, I ordered a medium steak, and it came out mostly purple/blue (SO SO rare). I wouldn’t do the steak frites ever again. Stick to incredible octopus and small plates/appetizers!
One of the best places on the upper west side
Large party in back and service was inexcusable.Maybe waited 15 minutes to get a glass of water. I’m not one of those aggressive New Yorker types that needs everything in a New York minute but when you spend over $200 for a dinner for two It is completely unacceptable. The food was tasty and my first experience there was much better so maybe I would give them another chance but I was grossly disappointed.
Loved being with you but have a few suggestions. The cauliflower frittos were great but there was so little sauce that most pieces were just a piece of cauliflower. It’s needs more flavor that comes from dipping into that fabulous sauce. One of us had the branzino which was disappointing. Everything else was great and drinks earlier at the bar were wonderful.
Birthday celebration for my hubby!
Excellent service, food and lively ambiance!
No pastry basket available - which is always a feature and a treat. Lousy coffee and cappuccinos. Not up to par.
I dined at Tessa Saturday night with a friend. I had been there before and was happy to be going back as it was so good. Not so this visit. It took a long time for us to be waited on. It took a long time to be served a cocktail after it was ordered. Two tables near us came in after we did and were eating appetizers before our order was taken. No one ever came back once we were served to ask if everything was ok. It was not. When my meal was served, I ordered a glass of wine. Ten minutes later I ordered it again. Ten minutes after that I had to ask again. The response from the third person was sorry- I'll pour you a little extra. We felt as if we were just forgotten the entire time we were there. Very disappointing.
I was expecting a proper lunch menu but only a brunch menu was available. They also got our food order incorrect and forgot to deliver all of it.
It was a late Friday evening when we visited; the food was great, the wine as well! WE will ba back!
Busy Friday night in December but they sat us exactly in time for our reservation. Food was very good, even my picky partner liked it. A bit loud but we could still converse. I’d go back again any time!
Pre-theater birthday dinner. Took a chance based on reviews, and were very pleased. Food was delicious, nice menu to choose from. Thought the wine list was very pricey and limited, but the wine we chose was very good. Service started out spotty but got better as things moved forward. Interesting that our server would not take appy order separate from dinner, but turned out to be OK. Very noisy. Stopped back after show at the Beacon to see if we could get a drink and place was jammed. Doing lots right.
The space is inviting and cute. The man working the Host stand
Was extremely rude, but then a friendly woman saved our check-in experience. Even with a reservation on Open Table we had to wait 15 minutes for a table.
The food was average and the waitress kind.
It’s alway’s a pleasure to have dinner at TESSA! Great atmosphere, food and staff.
We had a wonderful meal with cousins from out-of-town. Highly recommended.
As always...awesome food and service! We keep coming back for more and more
This place is a neighborhood gem - but it can get noisy.
We got there at the beginning of the brunch time so we were able to talk with ease.
By the end of our brunch (which was delicious, we all thought), it was quite loud. The atmospheric brick walls reflect back all the sound. There is very little upholstery - a banquette bench & hard wood chairs - and no sound/acoustic panels on the ceiling (which has an openwork metal treatment like accordion security gates suspended below piping, etc.) so the sound bounces back.
I really enjoy their food but take care to go early.
It was good but not wow. Cacio e pepe was the star of the meal.
We were a group of 5 elderly persons on 12/3/2019, one person with a walker and one with a cane we were treated by staff as kings. My thanks for their kindness. Waitress was a GEM and we loved her. I'm sorry I forget her name. Food was excellent as usual. The kindness shown us was exceptional.
Very expensive for what they provided. The food was passable, but nothing more. We will not go back.
If there was any negative for me it would be the noise level. It is very loud and hard to have a conversation.
Superb waitress. Wish I had gotten her name. Always smiling. Blond hair.
Tessa has serious noise issues. The food was creative and delicious, the service was attentive and professional. But the night we were there it was so loud the waiter had to practically shout in our ears to be heard and vice versa. All with a smile of course. Our dishes were excellent, really good; and the wait staff awkwardly cheerful. I would love to come back but it was really painful.
Salvatore is a great bartender!
We used to love eating at Tessa, but this time was very disappointing- food was fair, service poor. My husband and I each ordered a glass of wine which we had to remind our server to bring. Also noticed that it was kind of quiet for a Saturday night. Seems like your transferring your best resources to Asset...
First time at Tessa. Went before a beacon show and the waiter was very conscious of our timing. The food was excellent and the ambience was wonderful. We will definitely be back
Birthday dinner prior to seeing Jerry Seinfeld at the Beacon Theatre. It was just two of us and we seated in an area that basically had you sitting with other people. No privacy at all and very awkward to have a conversation. Other than that food and service was terrific.
Great evening except they put us at a table for 4 with 6 people. The head of the table seat was next to the stairs in the walkway and the poor guy was bumped in the back by staffers and other guests for the entire meal. Not ideal when we made the reservation days in advance. They didn’t try to “squeeze” us in at the last minute.
Wonderful dinner in a very pretty restaurant. The service was terrific, food great, place pretty. Look forward to coming back. What more can I say?
