We offer an inspired and innovative menu. Taking tradition Italian, French, and Spanish dishes and using only the finest seasonal produce, local products and specialty or artisanal items from local or imported sources, we have created an extensive menu containing selections ranging from shared plates and appetizers to home made pastas and exciting main dishes. Our menus change with the seasons and there are truly "specials" on offer every night.
We apologize, but our dining areas do not accomodate Highchairs, Booster Seats, or Strollers.
Going to a show
This was my fourth time here. The quality of the food was below expectations
Loved our night at Tessa my ladies birthday !! Would go back next time in the neighborhood
My favourite restaurant and neighbourhood spot on the UWS. I’ve been here +20 times and it never disappoints. Service is always outstanding and the food is delicious. BTG wine list and beer and cocktail menu is also brilliant.
TESSA is hands down one of the top 5 restaurants on the upper west side! The food is always incredible, the drinks are creative and fun, the atmosphere is sophisticated and fun.
I love the breakfast sandwich, and the starter muffins are a treat.
I liked everything about this place but the food. The ambiance (a little noisy) , the wait staff, food timing was great... but I left hungry. Even the little donuts that reviewers said were delicious, were eh. Nothing I couldn't get at the grocery store. Sorry, I probably would not go again.
Tessa is a great date night spot but poor for a holiday like Valentine’s Day. Our reservation was changed from 7:45 to 8:30 due to a glitch in the system. We understood the change in time because accidents happen, but our table was squished in a back corner of the dining room. Our seats were under a set of vents that were blowing on us the whole night which was uncomfortable. They packed twice as many tables in the back room and we were sitting on top of the table next to us. The waiters did a good job serving considering how jam packed the room was, but it felt impersonal and rushed. It was definitely a disappointment on what should have been a special night.
Tessa was ok. The food was not outstanding and we probably would not go again however it was a nice night out. Unfortunately, we were jammed in there as the restaurant obviously tried to take as many bookings as possible on Valentines Day, it was a bit upsetting that I continuously got bumped by every waiter who walked past. We probably wouldn't go again.
We were seated quickly and eating within 30 minutes of arriving. Even though we were seated right off the steps, seating was very tight so everyone had to make concessions.
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!! The service was amazing, the experience was amazing and we'll worth the price paid for dinner. I'll definitely take my wife there again.
We had a wonderful dinner with wine and dessert. The food was delicious and we had a great evening.
All was great!
Chairs are extremely uncomfortable
Space is super tight and uncomfortable
No place at all to stand while waiting for table
No one came to refill water or barely checked on us
This is a great spot if you're going to a show at the Beacon. The service is great, but very quick. We were in and out in an hour or so with appetizers, dinner and dessert. Food was delicious. No complaints.
Loved Tessa! The ambiance, food and service were all great. I recommend the cacio e pepe.
We enjoyed the entire experience at Tessa
We could eat healthy and well ....and on our way to the Beacon theatre
Service was excellent
The interior design was also very cool
Was amazing and interesting foods!! Tried several dishes and want to come back to enjoy more
Great uws spot for brunch, drinks, dinner!
Restaurant week. Excellent value. Fish and fig cake were wonderful.
The restaurant was very good. The seating is a bit too close together. Almost sitting on top of each other. The food was very good.
I liked the decor and the food was yummy! The complimentary bread and butter was the best I’ve had in the city!
Asset has become one of our favorite places. I love the space, the decor, and the bathrooms which is very important. On the other hand, the food is fantastic and consistently great. Wether it's TESSA or ASSET you cannot go wrong.
Pre opera dinner. Delicious food and wonderful service. Pretty noisy but we were seated in the back which felt more private and quieter. Had a nice short stroll to the Met opera after dinner.
The food was excellent. Most Entrees are gluten and dairy free (a big source of food anxiety for me) so nothing needed to be modified. the Duck breast entree was outstanding, I can't wait to have it again. The Branzino was also very good, but not as special as the duck.
It was too noisy you couldn’t even hear the person seating next to you and the food was serve cold
This is our neighborhood go to place for dinner and we always bring our friends who love Tessa. The food and menu is spectacular and service is always spot on. The ambiance is upscale and appreciate the prompt seating when arriving. We always feel at home when dining ant Tessa. Thanks
Excellent food, very busy but efficient, courteous and knowledgeable staff. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks
Tessa took great care of us on my birthday
Overrated for expense
Complaint about overly bitter inedible broccoli rabe greeted with an “ok” and smile by waitress. No apology and will inform the chef
Sea bass entree size extremely small
Needed to remind waitress of wine order and request for lemon
Very loud foursome within inches of us (crowded place) and request to move over one table greeted with notable hesitancy. Thank goodness the busboy intervened not the waitress
Overall, would not return
Had a great dinner with my husband before heading to the Beacon for a show. Had a 7 pm res and was seated promptly. Food was delicious (I'm still thinking about that octopus appetizer and the truffle fries). It has a great romantic vibe but not uptight. I also appreciate that our server suggested us putting in our full order up front so the kitchen could stagger it in time for us to make our show. We were able to eat leisurely and still make it in plenty of time. I don't get out much, but I would definitely go back.
Great food and great service
One of the gems in the UWS
It saddens me that I wouldn't be so inclined to recommend Tessa at this time. Something has changed there. We have been going there for many years since they have arrived in our neighborhood and have spent the last four years New Years celebration there and have always loved their food and service. Unfortunately they were off their game this New Year's Eve.
Tessa was amazing! Went with 6 friends for a pre-NYE dinner and had an awesome time. Our waitress was attentive and the food was delicious. Highly recommended!
Great value on 2009 Tempranillo.
Pasta was tasty.
Our 7th time here , always enjoy . Great cocktails and food. Close to our music venue. (Beacon
Definitely give a try, won’t be disappointed
If you like cold eggs benedict, this is the place for you. Eggs and holandaise were tepid, smoked salmon was ICE COLD. Not my idea of a great brunch on a winter's day.
Terrific spot for brunch, especially with a group of 8 people with disparate eating habits. The menu offered options for everyone, and prices were reasonable. Service was friendly, food was yummy. Drinks were a bit disappointing, but they were also relatively inexpensive.
Wonderful service! I’ve been here several times now with friends, etc. However, I was super turned off by their steak and frites this time. First off, they garnish / top the steak with fried onions (and other things) to add flavor?? Secondly, I ordered a medium steak, and it came out mostly purple/blue (SO SO rare). I wouldn’t do the steak frites ever again. Stick to incredible octopus and small plates/appetizers!
One of the best places on the upper west side
