We went for dinner on Valentine’s Day. We were the second couple to walk in, and were awkwardly greeted by the staff. They allowed us to pick our own table (yaaaay! 👀). It took a while for them to bring us the menus. My wife asked if the sangria was white or red, she was told white...it was red. But the server (Seth?) never came back to clarify, and just brought it out. At the beginning, there were long pauses between Seth coming to check on us, but we finally placed our order and started listening to the live music...a guitar soloist...cool. Dude played two songs and took a break...and never played again for the 90’minutes we were there....so they asked Google (multiple times) to play music...cool. But these weren’t even the biggest issues...there was a dog in the establishment. While we didn’t see it, it sounded like it was coming from the kitchen...yes, the kitchen. It was just one bark...that dog barked plenty of times...
While the food was surprisingly good, the portion size was...okay. For dessert I ordered the strawberry and bananas with while cream...Seth brought out the mixed berries (the other dessert option).
All in all it wasn’t a great experience. That’s the last time my wife trusts me to make a dinner reservation 😭😭😭
Our reservation with Open Table was for 1:30pm; the restaurant had it as 1:00pm, which worked out well because we arrived early and the restaurant closed at 2:00pm that day. We waited a long time to be seated and then still no water or cutlery. They seemed to be short staffed. We weren't aware that it was buffet only and had selected the restaurant based on the menu accessed through Open Table. Menu items were in the $10-$15 range and the buffet was $25 per person. With a party of 8, our meal cost a lot more than we expected. Having said all that, the food was delicious!
My son and I always come here when he is here on school. break. The food is high quality and there is always friendly service.
Very surprised by the quality, quantity and dish at this place. The food is delicious, packed with flavor and good quality. The portions are plenty - if in town try it out
Had a fantastic experience! They a accommodated 8 people on short notice, and made a graduation celebration very special. Friendly service & delicious food!
I plan to go back to see whether it's any different when it's not a holiday. I may recommend it after a different experience.
Though the menu Open Table provided was their standard fare, one of the reasons we went there, there was no menu provided at any time and the only thing we were asked about were drinks. The very pleasant volunteer guitarist passed a drink menu from another table.
There was a small buffet set up, which we were not expecting, and we were never told to help ourselves. We flagged down our waitress after 20 minutes or so and asked if we were supposed to help ourselves. We were never given the option to order off the menu instead. We weren't aware this was an option until we saw others around us (who apparently were regulars) order something that was not a part of the buffet.
We had to ask friends at a table near us to direct waitstaff to our table so we could get a mimosa.
In spite of all that, the staff and guest were very friendly and the food we did have was very good.
The service was outstanding. We were greeted the second we walked in the door. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. Will definitely make a return trip.
Adore this place. It’s been a while that I go to a restaurant I truly loved. Jane was our waitress and for a minute i thought she knew my sister in law because she greeted her with so much warmth! My sister in law recommended this place but she had never met her before. Those are the kind of people that should be in customer service. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We felt right at home. Nothing but smiles and good vibes. Cozy and quaint little place with a serene atmosphere. Felt like I was going over to a family members house for dinner! I would recommend this place Times a thousand if I could. Great selection of food. Menu isn’t large and confusing. Right to the point. If I could give the place 10 stars I would. Jane definitely deserves 10 stars. Best customer service I’ve had in a loooonnnng time. Don’t procrastinate people. Go to TESOROS CAFE!
Great food at an outstanding value. Fun place to check out. Crepes are delicious.
A great little cafe with a very attentive and friendly staff. Great meal and priced right. Our Crepe for desert was amazing.
We had a lovely meal. The service was great the food was delicious.
We will be back!
The staff are very nice. We were there for Valentines Day. The music was excellent but loud for the small dining room. There was a buffet that did not look very appealing. I didn’t try the brisket but had the fried plantains (good!), the chicken in a white sauce (tasty but cold), rice (again cold) and some mixed vegetables (good). Also had salad that was basically a bag of mixed greens with a couple of grape tomatoes and brown mushrooms. I really want to like this place but it always disappoints. This was my third time eating there.
Not only would I recommend Tesoros Cafe, I have several times. We have always been pleased with the food, variety, and service; in addition, we look forward to coming back soon.
Went for dinner. The menu is diverse with a flair for the Spanish. Quality and presentation were excellent. Prices are quite reasonable.
Food was gross.
Best brunch in town by far. For $16 you get a walk up buffet and a made to order mini omelet AND a made to order mini crepe and coffee, all of which is excellent.
Loved the strawberry and cream crepes. A wonde fun gem on Union Street!
Went for Father’s Day brunch. Food was excellent as usual and was able to top it off with fresh fruit crepes. Gloria the owner as always friendly and courteous and a pleasure to talk with.
When we arrived there was no one to seat us. When we sat down two ladies said to us, “We’ve been here an hour and we still haven’t got our food.” My wife ordered a salad with chicken on top and they forgot the chicken. When they finally bought it out it took 15 minutes. In there defense the owner came to our table and apologized because she had two new workers.
Tesoros is a small cafe in Upper Union, Schenectady. Although I made a Mother's Day reservation in advance it was obvious they did not have us on their list (and many others as well). The four of us waited for 20 minutes in a small hallway until a table was available. Then I stood next to the table for another 5-7 minutes to receive a chair to sit in. Many other families waited as long if not longer after we were seated. I selected this restaurant because on OpenTable I looked at the menu and it was appealing. However, the menu was not available on Mother's Day and the only option was a buffet. I watched more than one group leave after arriving and learning it was buffet only. I was afraid to do that since it was Mother's Day and I had no other reservation made. Tesoros seemed very overwhelmed and unprepared. Numerous times there were people waiting for clean plates/silverware. At one point we stood in line for 15 minutes waiting for more French toast to be put on the buffet. The food on the buffet was very limited but mostly tasted good. Green salad, French toast (some pieces burnt), bacon, sausage, black beans, plantains, rice, salmon, shredded pork, shredded beef, breakfast potatoes, pasta salad, fruit salad. The fruit salad display was very attractive. Coffee and water was self service. Because I did not know about the buffet I had no idea what the cost was and got quite a surprise at the cash register. It was $100 for one adult and three children. Completely overpriced considering what the buffet consisted of and I would not do it again.
Tesoro’s has a warm and inviting atmosphere. They just recently started serving dinners so it may not have caught on yet, but it should! The food excellent and the owner immediately makes you feel at home. I’ll be back.
This restaurant was amazing! I found it on Open Table and the menu looked interesting. We were welcomed with a warm greeting and were promptly seated. The waitress was kind and focused on us throughout the meal. She was helpful in suggesting items from the menu as well. We were very pleased with the food. The empanadas were crispy and delicious. The Latin crepe was exceptional! The beef was perfectly seasoned and hit the spot. It was light yet filling at the same time. It wasn't a large dining room although could seat quite a few people comfortably. It was quiet on our 5:30 arrival but starting filling around 6:30. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone who would like to try a twist on their regular "Mexican" meal. While the menu wasn't extensive it seems it would meet the needs of many. It was Latin not Mexican so it was in a league of its own and not your usual meal. Truly wonderful.
Great and unique food. Wines were very good and reasonably priced. This restaurant is a real gem in Schenectady.
Went for dinner, everything was excellent. Great staff, they were very friendly and attentive. They are happy to accommodate dietary preferences. Definitely going back.
My husband and I went for Valentine’s Day. They had a prix fix menu and entertainment. The food was excellent and a great value. The entertainment was nice as well. We have been here before and it was nice to come back. The crepes and Tres leches cake are to die for.
