Decidedly disappointed with the food. Salumi App was OK, meat, cheese, but main course of Scallops and Risotto left a lot to be desired, and I proceeded to send it back. the Scallops were small and the portion was skimpy (3). The risotto was bland and it was obviously precooked which made it very gummy. It was advertised as saffron risotto, but I could not detect any flavor of saffron. To be honest, I make better Risotto at home.
After sending back the first item, I ordered the mushroom pizza which was just OK.
We won't be going back here anytime soon.
Quality of food very good, excellent service, moderate noise
Night out with my daughters when we were going to the ballet.
Always a pleasure - great spot if your heading to symphony center
Tried the pork chop this visit and was outstanding. A Brussels sprouts salad was also excellent. Asparagus was perfectly grilled and the salmon was very good
This is my second time in two months, and I really like Tesori. The food is excellent, and I have loved my waitress, who is very knowledgeable about the wines, and helped me choose appropriately. A few things brought them down to four starts this time. A few pet peeves: brown lettuce in my caesar salad, and the salad was served before my cocktail even arrived. The osso bucco was very pricey, though delectable!!! It sure gets busy and noisier as it fills up on symphony nights, so I prefer to come very early.
Experience was good, not stellar, but good. We made reservations to take a colleague out for lunch and it was a decent experience, but our server was a bit odd. He spoke really fast, so much so that we had a hard time understanding him, and then when one of my party ordered a burger and he asked if she wanted cheese, and she asked what her options were, he said "pancetta is the cheese option" What? She said "um, isn't that more like bacon?" and he said "it's Italian cheese ma'am". She didn't argue, and we all looked at each other like "wow". There were a couple of other awkward moments, but we had a nice enough time. Surprisingly there were very few tables occupied and we were there at the height of the lunch hour.
The lobster ravioli was cold inside, clearly made from frozen product and the seafood linguini had sauce texture that we like from a can.
We went to Tesori because of its proximity to Symphony Center. Granny Smith Apple Salad a disappointment. Apples not crispy. Not enough on the salad to compensate. Ravoli was tasty. Our waiter Greg was attentive and friendly.
We've been coming to Tesori (also when the restaurant was called Rhapsody) for years and have never been disappointed...
CSO goers beware! One of my worst dining experiences. Service was terrible. Very inattentive!! Manager seemed extremely uninterested. Very disappointed!!
I have been to Tesori's many times before the CSO performances and lunches are usually quite good. This time (unfortunately when I brought my daughter and two young grandchildren) it was embarrassing. The lunch menu they had on their website bore no resemblance to the menu we were presented. What we did order was lukewarm at best. The seafood pasta (most expensive item on the menu by the way) was bland and fishy tasting. My daughter ordered some lemons to help it along...something that should never have been necessary. We had crabcakes and calamari for appetizers, the seafood pasta, ravioli and one other dish that was so unmemorable I can't even recall what it was. This little meal, with tip, was $175...and I wouldn't have minded paying that if it had at least been "good." I might give Tesori one more try once I simmer down from last weekend's debacle.
We were in town with our 13 year old daughter celebrating her birthday with family. We had a limited amount of time before going to Hamilton. Tesori was very accomodating, sat us right away and we had plenty of time. Our waiter was on top of everything and drinks were refreshed before they were even empty. The food was outstanding. The Osso Buco was the special- if it happens to be on the menu when you go, don't pass it up! You won't be sorry. It's a short walk to the CBIC theater(2-3 blocks) so it worked out perfectly for us.
the food and the service were great. The location is ideal if you are attending a function at the Chicago Symphony Hall. We would be very happy to go back here.
Loved the coconut dessert
I enjoy Tesori whenever I am in Chicago. Very handy to have a fantastic lunch before going to symphony which is right next door.
Always have had good experience here. I highly recommend it.
We had to wait for 17 min before someone came over to take a drink order —and that was only because we called someone over. There was no “specials” card at the table and the guy wouldn’t just tell us what they were and insisted on getting the card. Fearing we may never see him again we just ordered. Appetizers we orders to share did not come with serving utensils. Entrees came and we were out of wine and reordered Sri is which arrived by the time we were almost done with the meal. We had a 6 pm reservation and were going to concert upstairs at 7:30. Our bill did t arrive until 7:25. As convenient as this location is for CSO, it’s time to change! We are regulars for years and the service issues are always the same. Complaining doesn’t seem to matter and allocating an hour and a half for a simple dinner should be more that enough time. #lasrstraw
Food is just ok but it's very convenient for pre and post symphony dinner and drinks.
We will never return to tesori. While we were there an older man fell ill (it looked like he was choking) and the wait staff ignored what was obviously a person in great distress. One of his dinner party hit him on the back and then attempted the Heimlich maneuver. This went on for about 4 minutes, toward the end of which 3 restaurant staff gathered round and watched. Finally I went to the manager and suggested he call 911. This should have been done immediately. A bit later, when the man seemed to be doing OK, I suggested to the manager that his staff needed training for how to deal with such situations. It is a restaurant after all - choking probably isn't rare. He got very defensive (although I was just making a suggestion, not at all angrily) and said something like "We can't touch a guest" which was completely irrelevant. The place was packed before a concert so "Is there a doctor in the house?" wouldn't have been a bad idea. But to do absolutely nothing is unconscionable.
This was a special event and we were very anxious to try a new Italian restaurant. We were surprised and disappointed with how few Italian dishes were on the menu. Yes we had a decent time and meal was
satisfactory. But we were expecting far more. I will never return - there are far too many reliable
A really convenient and reliable place for pre- and post-concert drinking and dining. Food is high-quality, mostly Italian, and fairly reasonably-priced (for the location). Small thin-crust pizzas are excellent, as are the pastas. Menu rotates often. Roomy bar fills quickly after the symphony, but is often a good place to spot Maestro Muti, CSO members, and featured soloists, and you can occasionally overhear some orchestra insider gossip at the bar. Tesori obviously tends to get slammed at 6pm on concert nights, and just after the concert, but there's never a problem getting a table at 8pm! Have been there perhaps two dozen or more times over the years, and I've never been disappointed.
First, let me state how amazing our server was - she was friendly, attentive, efficient, and absolutely amazing. We arrived late to our reservation and when we told her that we needed to leave in an hour in order to make a performance, she listened and made it happen. Overall, she was super impressive. The food was very good but the seafood portions for our entrees were somewhat small - a slightly more generous serving size would have been appreciated. Otherwise, we had a lovely experience and would definitely visit again.
The food was excellent, as always. Quick service (nice, because we had concert tickets). The noise level, despite being relatively high, does allow for conversation.
The scallops were amazing, highly recommend
It was very pleasant
We were on our way to the symphony and Tesoro is attached to the building. So it was incurredibly convenient. They had a lovely Sunday menu, and we were not rushed. Our waiter was named Matt, and he was one of the best waiters we have ever had. He had his timing down perfectly and he was very knowledgeable about the menu. He was very friendly and offered little extras like taking our picture even though we hadn't wanted to bother hm. The whole experience was delightful and we will go back.
The waitstaff didn’t know who was supposed to have our table and it took them 20 minutes to figure it out. After that, everything went well and the food was great.
God meal. Service was very spotty
Waiter seemed annoyed that it was my son and I. Took awhile to get service at first. Lasagna was good, salmon was fine
The food is excellent, as is the service. However, we had not been able to dine here for several years, as they had removed all of their vegetarian entrees (except for pizza). They finally put a meatless risotto dish on the menu, which was excellent. As was the trout dish, that had a nice crispy skin. It would be nice if there was more than one vegetarian choice, which should be easy for an Italian restaurant that serves pasta. Or even a vegetable plate of their side dishes would be nice.
Good service, tasty food served hot, convenient location. Very pleasant after concert experience.
I feel Tesori could be a fine dining experience but perhaps not after a concert. It was a situation where a lot of diners descend on the restaurant and staff trying to run around and deliver.
We waited a terribly long time for our bottle of wine to be delivered. Additionally entrees were not served at proper temperatures. No real acknowledgement of the problem.
Hence service was poor and food was good.
The dessert was very good - tiramisu
Food good, service excellent, convenience to Symphony Center unassailable. Not a great meal but good.
I haven’t been to Tesori for 5 years and I was taking my family to the CSO. It is connected to Orchestra Hall so it’s convenient and I used to go there a great deal when it was Rhapsody. I couldn’t imagine what a great experience it would be, and it was. From the grilled octopus to our waiter, Mathew, everything was wonderful. I will definitely not wait another 5 years!
Our server was wonderful and the food was fantastic!
Bleh....way over price...portions were very small and quality of food was marginal at best....nothing inspiring on the menu or on my plate! Way way over price for what they bring to the table!
It's convenience to symphony hall no doubt keeps it afloat!
Flew in to Chicago to take my Midwest staff to dinner.
It’s a good pre-Chicago Symphony option since it’s connected to Symphony Center. Service and delivery varies from good to mediocre depending on how swamped they get. Some people at our table really enjoyed their wood fire oven baked pizzas. Not inexpensive so we wish their general quality could improve dependably.
And excellent pre-concert dinner as always. Our party arrives late but were served in plenty of time to make the concert. Will be back
