Wonderful meal and excellent service.
This place never disappoints, and Chef Michel respects tradition but also mixes things up enough so that there’s always something new to try.
I ordered the veal chop. I guess it was veal but it certainly didn't taste or look like veal. The side was some watery, cheesy lumpy, thing. I can't recall what it was supposed to be but it was awful. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their meal, however so that's the reason for my positive but, lukewarm review.
Went here for the Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner. The meal started with an Alsace potato soup that both my son and I enjoyed. The second course was small servings of 5 different marinated salads; one or two were good, the rest weren't anything special. I had the beef Beaujolais entree. The beef was a little on the fatty side for me but the accompaniments (sauteed shiitake mushrooms, asparagus & buttered potatoes) were delicious. My son had the poached salmon which came with broccolini, oyster mushrooms & a creamy cabbage gratin which he enjoyed. The pumpkin and chocolate mousses that they served for dessert were light and airy and the perfect ending to a large meal. The upstairs dining room where we were seated was nice and cozy without being overly cramped our crowded. Our waiter was OK (he didn't offer us drinks, I had to ask) but the other staff serving the bread and pouring water were very attentive. For $60/person, I really can't complain...
Though my mother had been to Tersiguel many times, it was my first meal there. Though the staff was attentive during the meal, the food was a huge disappointment. The food was awful. She was more diplomatic about it. When we were asked how the meal was, my mother expressed her dissatisfaction. Various other staff then came to the table as though they were interested and/or concerned, but no remedy was offered. And once our dissatisfaction became known, our waiter stopped coming to out table. One staff member offered us an excuse saying that it was a very "hectic"" day - as though we should forgive the restaurant for the sub-par food. The last staff member to arrive at our table offered me his "business card" and suggested I "email" him so 'we could resolve this'. I didn't take his card. The time to resolve a situation like this is then and there - not at some later date. Some of our meal should have been comped. That is what a professional restaurant would have done. Instead, the staff didn't seem to either take our dissatisfaction seriously or simply didn't know how to deal with it appropriately. I have never had such a dismal experience in a restaurant. The meal was cafeteria quality and the service, though going through the motions of being attentive, was awful. As a result, we will never return.
Thanksgiving. Traditional meal. Absolutely wonderful!!!
Always a treat to dine at Tersiguels, the food is gorgeous and it is a beautiful place to be.
Great Thanksgiving dinner.
The food was good. Went in thinking it would be 60 a person as it stated on the menu, however they overcharge on any additions. 8 dollars for a bottle of water for the table, 5 for a small cup of coffee, etc. Room was a bit chilly and crowded. Ended up spending close to 200 with tip. Probably won't be returning.
A Rare Find! The menu, the food, the wine list....this place has it all! Oh, and a white tablecloth as well. As someone who is both French, and a cook I claim to know something about French cooking. This place rivals and/or is better than any French restaurant I have ever eaten at in North America. The waiter was pleasant and helpful with making choices, the food was fun, delicious, memorable. We will be back!
A+ all around.
Menu, staff, atmosphere.....
Would definitely return.
Lovely food, great service , $$$ !but really nice experience
Had a wonderful brunch at Tersiguel’s early on Sunday to celebrate my wife’s birthday. This was our first time dining there. We arrived and were given a choice of table, as the restaurant was not yet busy. The building is historic and each room had its own vibe, we elected to sit in the front room with a view of the Main Street. The food and drinks were all excellent. We enjoyed an appetizer of escargot, mains of duck and salmon, and ended with desert of cheesecake. The service staff were very welcoming and attentive - we couldn’t have asked for a better waiter in Logan. We were very impressed overall and will definitely be back again.
Overall an average meal for the price range. We will not be be back.
Everything was lovely - except the main course. We had Coquille saint Jacques. It was horribly over salted and very hard to eat.
An all time favorite and consistent go-to for date nights. Never disappoints!
Incredible food and fantastic service. Chef Michel never disappoints.
Exquisite experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable and efficient. Lovely venue in an old, historic house. And the food..... just superb. Some of the finest French dishes we have ever had. This is our new favorite restaurant in the Greater Baltimore area!
In my opinion, the best French food west of Paris and south of Montreal
We have been dinning here for over 20 years as always everything was great. It is good to see that they are helping the environment by using paper instead of plastic straws. My wife commented on how nice the restaurant looked when we walked up. They take care in changing the flowers seasonally . Chef cooks with passion and we love it. Thank you Bruce & Michele
Quaint 5 star restaurant in Old E.C. Ambiance was perfect, food was great but the staff made it an experience! Thanks to Charlie and team! You all made our experience memorable. Truly thank you!
Outstanding dinner! Wonderful ambiance, excellent service, great food. Foie gras was perfect, and escargot was wonderful. Filet was also perfect, and creme brulee outstanding. Essentially a perfect meal.
Perfect service and food as always! Lovely window seat-relatively quiet even though the room was completely filled. I really enjoyed the seasonal salade gourmande-flash fried pumpkin with a perfect pairing of delicious sauce combining sweet and spicy.
The table immediately next to us was quite loud making it difficult to converse privately at our table. The waiter spent much more time with them (they were ordering bottles of wine- we were not) so we had to make it known to him when we needed things. Overall the service was good, just not the exceptional service we have come to expect t there.
The service was amazing! Charlie gave vivid descriptions of the food and the waiters were super attentive
The food was delicious and the portions were quite large. Wine selection was impressive and the price on wine was reasonable
Great place for special night out!!
We chose Tersiguel's based on reviews and were not disappointed. The service was attentive but not bothersome. We four enjoyed an upstairs table in the corner away from the door and were able to enjoy a comfortable conversation throughout our meal. Our waiter recommended an excellent wine to go well with our food choices. The food was excellent and portions were adequate but not overlarge.
We were glad we drove to Ellicott City to enjoy this meal.
This restaurant has very good food. The foi gras was excellent. The bus boy in training was very attentive to replenishing bread & removing empty plates. But I must rate service to be poor for the following reasons.
What I found to be EXTREMELY distasteful on the part of this restaurant is that they only offer paper straws. Straws made of paper get soft after about 10 minutes in your carbonated drink. Also, paper is porous and air comes through the paper so that as you suck up your drink, it does not come up as strongly or quickly forcing you to make a more conscious effort just to simply take a sip of your drink. This really ruined the experience created by the nice ambiance. I did not appreciate the look given by the waitress when I asked her if they have normal straws as if I were committing a faux pas. For a restaurant serving quality food, I would recommend that Chef Tersiguel (the owner) rethink this paper straw nonsense in his restaurant. People come to enjoy a French meal, not to be made an unwilling participant in ridiculous climate activism. In case the readers of my post are unaware, it is not the United States that dumps plastic straws and other waste into the oceans. It's China. As a matter of principle, those establishments should boycott EVERYTHING that is made in or sourced from China. I'm sure at least half of the items in the kitchen are made in China.
Second, if a patron is requesting to take leftover food home, paper containers are not practical for items containing liquid. As with the paper straws, the paper container got soggy. Restaurants should provide suitable containers for food transport in these situations so the customer does not have to deal with a problem. In our specific situation, we drove an hour to try this restaurant and I should not have had to hold the container in my hand to make sure it did not spill or to have to wonder if any of the container paper material was disintegrated due to contact with food that may be acidic.
The flavors and variety were great. The staff was accommodating to my elderly parents.
Celebrated our anniversary with the chef’s special. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. Service was excellent and the selection of wines with each serving was perfect.
Can’t wait for our next meal at Tersiguel’s. They are always outstanding and memorable.
We went for our first anniversary. Shared a pumpkin appetizer which we both enjoyed. My husband had roast lamb and I had the beef filet. We ended the meal with chocolate mousse. The lamb was fine, but not outstanding. My filet with peppercorn sauce was a great piece of meat, but just a little underdone (more rare than medium rare.) Andrew provided great service.
The food is excellent. The staff recommendations are spot on. The staff members are fantastic - friendly, polite, quick to replenish water/bread, and very approachable. I recommend any fish or steak dish and the herb butter sauce of the escargot is amazing dipped with their fresh bread.
The food and services are not what is most memorable about the restaurant, though. We've dined here a couple of times and each time we had experiences sitting near tables of diners who were friends of the proprietors. One time, we were next to a group of ladies who were not too loud and seemed very proper - it was enjoyable people-watching as it looked like they were celebrating something, too. This past visit was later in the evening, and the group next to us was very friendly and talkative, and they seemed like very fun people whom I would have loved to share a party with!
It would be nice if the proprietor would make an effort to say hello and hold conversations with people at all of the other tables - and not just those people he knows. I have to admit, I'm a bit envious of all of these people we've seen because we have lived in Maryland for only a few years and it's wonderful to see an establishment that is so well connected with some people of their community. Maybe someday we will feel more connected with them, too.
We have been dining at Tersiguel's for about 20 years and always enjoy the food, ambiance and staff. Excellent experience, as always!
Always great food, excellent service, wonderful wine
Great high-quality food. Lovely atmosphere for an anniversary or special celebration.
Wow! I don’t know why it took me so long to check out this restaurant. From the food to the service, everything was top notch. Charlie, our waiter, showed immense passion in the delivery of the food/wine and was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the building and restaurant itself. The whole staff was attentive and friendly, the restaurant was quaint and cozy - we will surely be back! Thank you for making my birthday special.
Delicious food and excellent service.
The service was very attentive. Started out with a nice bottle of wine, a reasonable Bordeaux. The french bread was wonderful. My friend had the fig salad and I started with escargot. All very excellent. I had a filet that was melt in your mouth delicious. My friend had tuna with soft shell crab. All were excellently prepared, sauces were just right, flavorable. We will definitly come back.
As always, dinner at Tersiguel's on Saturday was a treat. It is a pleasure to walk in, be greeted by the friendly staff, hear Charlie's vivid description of the evening's specials, never have to ask for anything (because there are plenty of attentive people waiting), enjoy a well-prepared and interesting meal in a calm and quiet room, and leave feeling welcomed and well-served. I live in Seattle and visit Baltimore twice a year, and I never miss the chance for a great dinner at Tersiguel's. I have been an enthusiastic customer for over twenty-five years, and I have never had anything less than a wonderful time with the Tersiguel family.
we have had dinner there several times and it is always a very special dinner ..It is a nice quiet evening with excellent choice of menu items..the service is always very good..Always prepared to go back for their dinner choices..look forward to our next
I had the duck dish and my wife had one of the specials. Both were excellent. Chocolate dessert was also
