Contemporary French
Terre Rouge is a contemporary French restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Markham, overlooking the Pride of Canada carousel. The restaurant's menu is influenced by locally sourced, organic, farm to table fare that is wholesome, and down to earth. Executive Chef Forrest Liu was classically trained by Jean Georges Vongerichten in Shanghai, and his menu is inspired by a modern approach to Traditional French Cuisine, focusing on simplicity and flavour.

Great food and great service! The buttermilk chicken, truffle mac and cheese and kale salad were my favourites! Always a pleasure to dine at Terra Rouge!

This is a good, upscale restaurant -- maybe the first of its kind in the Markham Downtown area. The food is delicious, though maybe a little bit overpriced for what you're getting. Portions are a good size. The restaurant is located behind the Carousel but getting into the parking lot can be a bit tricky. Ambiance of the restaurant is really. Lots of windows and bright spaces.

Food was amazing. Waitress was very rude. It was very difficult to get any attention from the staff. And when we did, it felt like she was very annoyed and frustrated. The owner was very nice but not his staff. Feels like they had no training or experience in other restaurants.

The overall cleanliness of the establishment was poor (washrooms were disgusting), which doesn’t give a good impression of how they run the place. While staff were friendly the service was not well timed and the main course arrived a second after appetizers were cleared away. It appeared that the main courses had been sitting a while in the kitchen.
Menu is interesting and the food is good although presentation a bit lacking - warm duck salad had nice flavors, but thrown together on the plate.
Price point okay if they step up their game and think about the customer whole dining experience.

Kale Caesar, the kale leaf cut it a bit smaller easy for lady to put into mouth. It is not nice to open the mouth widely in public :)

Beef Tartare is good, it will be good if no bloody taste. I prefer more favor...

I have been twice now and can’t wait to go back. Food is amazing and unique and service is exceptional. Brought all my girlfriends last weekend because I kept raving about how great it was. Every person in my party loved it and will def be back. Definitely a rare Gem in Markham. Well Done!

We ordered one prix five menu, and a clam chowder and lobster squid ink pasta.
The prix five menu tasted ok, nothing special, we added $10 for the caviar avocado roll, which I found that’s overpriced, the roll is way too small.
The clam chowder is overpriced as well, small bowl of soup cost $19, although there is two big clam meat inside, still doesn’t worth for the money.
The lobster squid ink pasta tasted the best. It’s $39 but the portion is reasonable and with the whole lobster tail.
Overall we just found that the place is overpriced.

Excellent service right from the start to the end, seating to ordering to paying the bill. When we came in, we were greeted professionally by showing concern for our needs. We were seated promptly and the wait staff continued this level of service throughout the meal. One of the highlights was talking to the head chef, Forrest Liu. We had the pleasure of tasting a sample of his creation at the 2019 King Cole Duck Fest, which influenced our decision to visit Terre Rouge.
The food was excellent. We had the Terre Rouge burger, which is made with grass fed beef and served with a generous helping of fries that were done well. The Lamb Orecchiette is an interesting combination of lamb and pasta. The lamb was soft and tasty. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce was a subtle combination of flavours that complemented the lamb.
Overall, this was a pleasant experience that we hope to repeat in the future.

I had dinner here for my 6-year wedding anniversary. I had driven by the restaurant many times, but finally decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. Each dish was like a work of art, as pleasing to the eyes as to the palate. I had the beef tartare, lobster tacos, and duck breast. The decor was ultra modern and clean, which created an elegant atmosphere to enjoy the meal. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the dining experience. The executive chef even took time to chat with us and provided free ice cream to my kids when he saw they were getting a bit rowdy. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family, and I will definitely be going back (minus my kids)

Great food and service. Everything that I tried including the warm duck salad, salmon and tuna, truffles pizza and steak were all amazing. All of us love the food and the friendly service. I definitely will come back to try other dishes on the menu, also recommend the place to my friends.

Black cod was the highlight. Service was friendly, informative and prompt. We had the kale salad and a few other appetizers which were all good. 2nd visit. Last time had the lamb which was also great.

The food was fresh, tasty, timely and the servers were quite friendly. The price is reasonable and overall it was a fantastic experience. Like being in Downtown Toronto without having to battle the DVP. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there and they treated us well. We would highly recommend this new gem in Downtown Markham.

Made a reservation via OpenTable for 2, and noted it is for Birthday occasion. We are carrying a big bouquet flower in. We arrived on time, the waitress seated us at a tiny 2 person table in the middle of the row, and we at the spot requested for a 4 person table booth, the waitress said no other tables were available, and 2/F is not open.

After we seated for a while, I believe is the owner or store manager of Terre Rouge, a very nice gentleman, approached us and said we can change our seat to 2/F, since we have plenty of stuff, and a big bouquet flower, he wanted us to be comfortable and have some privacy.

He gave us some good recommendations on food options. The food tasted great, we ordered Fois Gras, 18oz aged ribeye, and black cod. We got a nice birthday dessert from this gentleman as well.

Overall a very nice French cuisine place to be, being at an uptown location. I would recommend Terre Rough to my friends.

The flavour combinations do not go well with the food (e.g. the sauce on the filet mignon is so strong that you can barely taste the flavour of the steak, the scallop carpaccio is bathed in the sauce that is again too strong for the scallops, for the caviar on the caviar avocado roll you can only taste saltiness). All the food look very fancy with expensive ingredients but it’s the flavours just don’t work together. Also not allowed to put the sauce on the side or switch fries with veggies for clients who are calorie conscious. Not worth it for the price. The desserts are pretty good though especially the chocolate lava cake. Maybe just come for desert?

Restaurant has great opportunity. The food was really good. We had the lobster tacos to start - they were full of flavour. I had the lamb chops for my main and my date had the seafood linguine. Both dishes were tasty and the portion size was perfect. Overall a great meal.
