Great food experience. The lamb meatballs are something special. The house made sourdough bread is great and with house made butter..
Who does that? (We were hoping to learn where they buy it because it was so superior; so even though we can’t buy it we’re certainly impressed they make their own butter). Lamb rack was very high quality meat and cooked beautifully. Service was also top notch (even though they had a party of 38(!) in the house, they kept all of the rest of us well taken care of). Very attractive contemporary setting. We’ll certainly return. Only improvement would be for the acoustics to allow quiet conversation.
I feel bad for giving this review since the manager comped the entire meal. THAT was the right thing to do, but if I were to recommend this place and somebody had a similar experience based on that, I'd feel worse. The service was probably the worst I have ever experienced. Watching other tables, it was the same for them, too.
Ordered 1 soda, 1 cocktail, 1 soup and 2 entrees. Soda came in a couple of minutes. Cocktail never showed, at the 15 minute mark, I asked the waitress about it, she said it was coming. 5 minutes later, I went to the bar to see if I could just get it and the manager helped me and said it was coming. Finally, at the 25 minute mark, it showed, JUST barely ahead of bread. Soup came at the 35 minute mark.
Soup done, the waitress got the bowl and never asked how it was... Did I want another drink...
nothing. She stayed on the other side of the restaurant waiting at the kitchen for orders and I couldn't get her attention. So, I went to the bar to get another drink and the bartender was making it for me when the manager came up to say that entrees were not far behind... I told her that I was appalled at the service, and that I was having to get my own drink.
Anyway, those entrees that were coming right away arrived at the table at the 75 minute mark! From the time that we ordered until we got the entrees was 1 hour and 15 minutes. The restaurant was officially closed. Waitress came up to the table when we were done and asked if we wanted dessert. We declined and she said, "okay, you're good to go then." That was how that finished. Seriously.
We really enjoyed the butternut squash soup but wish the portion was larger and more generous.
Extensive wine selection by the glasse but pricey! Food and service were ok, was very quiet (too quiet!) for a lunch on Saturday. Probably nicer in the evening for drinks. No outside area.
Where do I start? The bacon wrapped date appetizer is to die for - it’s a must try. Our entrees were delicious - the rack of lamb and NY steak were cooked perfectly. One small complaint: the steak had a bit too much gristle. The warm chocolate cake dessert was lovely. The coolest part of Bottlest is the wine wall! The wine purchaser for the restaurant explained the wine wall to us and let us sample some wines until we found ones we loved. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Was very good lunch
The service was not up to par. We waited twenty minutes for bread, and we had to remind them after our food came to the table. No one checked on us during our meal. And We waited so long for our check that we had to
Go ask the hostess to get the check for us.
Totally redeemed themselves! The food and service has been a roller coaster ride over the last few years. Tonight was the best experience we’ve had yet, and we’ve been dining and drinking here for years with mixed results. The service was superb and ALL of the food was prepared flawlessly. We were so happy to have such a great dining experience. If you’ve been disappointed here in the past, it’s worth coming back now. Seriously. (I am not affiliated with the place at all. I’m just a local that is stoked that Bottlest is worth going to now.)
This was our second time dining at this restaurant. Glad to see it’s attracting more people:) Food was very good, and we were glad to order from both restaurant and bar menu.
Always a pleasure to dine at Bottlest! Great food, atmosphere and service. Plus a happy hour that can't be beat!
I visited the restaurant with great expectations. Arrived early for my 6pm reservation. There were maybe 6 people in the restaurant. All the wines are dispensed out of machines and we’re abnormally warm. Other than the bacon wrapped figs, which I enjoyed, the rest of the meal was really not good. The cheese and charcuterie board was stale and way over priced. I ordered the NY strip(Medium rare) it came out grey. I took a bite and left it. And I have to say with a mostly empty restaurant the service was not good. It took forever to get our food and as I said, the food was poor. I really wanted to like this place but I very much didn’t. I won’t be back.
Took my wife out for a nice meal and the Bottlelist didn’t disappoint! She had the Seabass and I had the wild salmon... both excellent meals.
First off they have a "digital" wine bar where you are given a chip card and can serve yourself pretty mediocre wine at a pretty steep price. I ordered the filet/w potatoes, veggies,... a very (and I mean very) long time later the waitress plopped a hunk of meat down in front of me that clearly wasn't filet. It was literally just a piece of meat, nothing else. I think it might have been a New York strip. I was so hungry at that point, from waiting forever, that I decided to just eat it. With that said, no-one seemed interested at the get go in correcting the error. The waitress was too busy chatting with her friends at the bar. In the end the manger did consent to remove the cost of the hunk of meat from the tab. So that's reason for the bad review. I'm afraid I won't be going there again. Too bad really. It seems like a nice place. If the wine was decent, I'd consider giving them a second chance, but alas no.
The octopus was amazing. I didn't know octopus could be that tender and tasty. I also really enjoyed the filet mignon, the beet salad and of course the dates wrapped in bacon are unbelievably good. The service was impeccable and we had a really good evening. Highly recommended!
We love to sit in the bar to eat -- the restaurant side is freezing cold because of keeping all of the wines cold along the walls I guess. But the downside of the bar is when the live music comes in -- it is LOUD so we try to get there early to be out before that starts.
GREAT service...good food!!
Great restaurant. Will go back next time I'm in the area.
Very good experience. We enjoyed the independent wine tasting.
We went to pick up our wine from the wine club. Plus have dinner at the bar making use of Halfy Hour. 3-6pm ,bar menu 1/2 off. Its a win /win:-)
Fantastic dinner paired with exceptional wine. We had a romantic dinner and had so much fun trying out different wines on the wall!
Can’t wait to go back!
One of our favorite places to just hang out. Love the creative cocktails and nice selection of bar food!
We had fabulous service and delicious food and wonderful wine but I'm sort to say that when it comes to desserts it was the worst! We ordered 4 desserts each one worse than the next! Tasteless cheesecake and mousse with a piece of dry tasteless toast on top, come on chef you could do so much better! We will definitely be back but will be skipping desserts!
Very lackluster, the food is small portions and over priced. Tried three seperate wines from the self serve bar all tasted of being open to long and oxidized. Craft cocktails were good!
John was an exceptional server- quick to please, answer ???’s.
The bacon wrapped dates were ordered twice, for 3 ladies- honestly!
Two teens ordered the salmon, leaving the plate clean of every crumb. I opted for the duck salad , not overly complicated.
Interesting presentation of the butternut squash soup , could have had a little more actual heat and seasoning.
I do love this restaurant!
We tried the restaurant month menu and it was delicious! The wine pairing with it was perfect
Chef Owen is truly gifted. The menu is always creative and fresh. Looking forward to visiting again.
Nice service and ambiance. Jidori chicken and filet could not have been better. Ate at a bar booth, a little cozier.
The Wine wall is a great way to sample the region’s vintages and a wonderful way to self-pair with your food. The cuisine was excellent and highly recommended.
We always have a good time and good eats here.
Plus the wine wall is fun.
Pork very over cooked and dry. Chicken very salty. Fillet mignon was ok.
Beans with pork dish were dry and very hard
Absolutely fantastic and we join their wine club and they have so many perks we loved it
What to say about Bottlest besides PERFECTION! We were on a date night and this was the right place for it. We started with veal short ribs and the mussels for appetizers. The veal short ribs were so tender and juicy with the right amount of fat on them. The mussels were so tasty with slight Spanish flavor. We were so pleased we ordered another one...the octopus. Wow. A lot of places that make octopus make it tough and rubbery. Not here....it was soft and flavorful. It was served with chilled grains. The mixture of them together. Dang to die for. So if we rank the appetizers we would say #1: veal short ribs, #2 octopus and #3 mussels. Remember ALL were great.
Now main courses. Fiancé had the sea bass wrapped in cabbage. Nice and flakey with a great flavor, paired well with the white beans and cabbage. And I had the rack of lamb it was cooked to perfection. And the flavor wow. I don't know what to say....besides damn. Just so good. The chef was nice enough to pick wines for us that would compliment our meals and he was spot on.
Finally we had dessert. Won't go into it but it wasn't the best. Well we will say not for our us. But the manger did come by and gave us a glass of dessert wine that was amazing. Wish I remembered what it was. So I can buy a bottle.
The staff was the best. This is the best restaurant we have been to in our 4 years in this area. More people should go and eat/drink there.
Great job to the owners of this place. This is a breath of fresh air to the central coast.
Great food and Service!
A restaurant you should not pass by..
The live music was a plus, dancing after dinner.!!
We truly enjoyed everything
Food was very good. Not sure tif the waiter was new or just incompetent. Everything took incredibly long to come to the table. The best part of this place was the wine wall.
Nice girls get together for lunch . A good assortment on the menu to choose from and everything we ordered was tasty !
Visited the Solvang area for NYE weekend and by far the best dining experience was had at Bottlest. Service, food, and wine were all outstanding. Thank you Bottlest staff for a truly lovely evening.
Enjoyed our meal here. Loved the decor and service. Nicole was fantastic and took great care of us. Our dinner - from the meatballs and octopus to jidori chicken and filet mignon - was a great experience. Desserts were fantastic as well. Will be back as we were in too late to be able to do the winery tour!
Everything was amazing! The service the food the ambience with live music... couldn't have had a better time all around!
We brought our friends to try Bottlest on a Thursday evening. We have enjoyed the food and service several times before this visit.
Our food was served by a great waiter and did not disappoint us. Every dish was different and delicious!
We definitely recommend this great addition to the valley.
We came into the Solvang/Los Olivos area for Christmas shopping and finished off the day with a wonderful meal at Bottlest. This was our second visit to the restaurant and it did not disappoint. We shared the Octopus appetizer and full rack of lamb. both were very delicious. I opted for a gin and tonic cocktail rather than their wine bar, and the drink was tasty with the elderberry tonic.
