The food and overall experience was excellent. I highly recommend the restaurant.
Our server was great. He was the highlight of the evening. Bethesda was extremely quit, as well as the restaurant. We were clearly rushed as our main dish came out not long as the appetizer was served. When you're that quiet, you have no excuse to rush a meal. The food quality was very good.
Terrain is such a beautiful place, calming just to walk in. The menu has so many tasty items, but healthy. The green hummus plate had the absolute best cracker (large pieces)--home made? And 3 colors of carrots. The chef delivered our main course and it was simply beautiful--shrimp and grits--not a spoonful was left behind.
Amazing Saturday brunch! Excellent vegetarian options & portions.
I don’t like giving negative reviews but I also have to say: the service was poor. It appeared that our waitress was new. We ordered our entire meal when she first arrived because we waited that long. We had to ask for our coffee orders (I watch the interaction between the barista and our waitress… I don’t think she put our order in correctly). We never received bread for our tables (others did). When our orders did come out, my soup and my frittata were Lukewarm, my salad had nothing but greens in it. Think a basic spring mix from the grocery store. My friends Latte was really good, but another friends Mamosa was not flavorful at all. You really couldn’t taste the fruit in the drink at all. Lastly I think our waitress went on break, and we had to ask another waitress for our check. So, overall this was a very poor experience. I will not be going back to this restaurant and I cannot recommend it.
Stick to Terrain for coffee and breakfast. Dined here on a Saturday night and will not be back for dinner. Service was incredibly slow - took nearly 20 minutes for drinks, one of which was not what a guest ordered. The food was mediocre, but worst of all the restaurant refused to serve drinks after 8pm (they close at 8, but had four tables of guests still eating). I understand the kitchen had closed, but pouring a simple glass of wine hardly seems like something to turn down for a diner who is finishing a meal. Cute restaurant, but will stick with it for coffee and wine only.
The mushroom soup was delicious. Service was wonderful.
Beautiful ambiance. Food was average. Would recommend that they provide everyone w their own brioche (absolutely delicious but really can’t share one due to covid and who wants to share this delight?)
Truly enjoyed the experience-food, service & ambiance.
Shrimp and grits and fried avocado Benedict were delicious.
The duck was abysmal as was the tuna.
Service was fantastic!!
My favorite dining spot in bethesda. Thoughtfully prepared healthy choices in a quiet atmosphere. So glad it’s back
It was a great brunch, food was good. They had tables very close to each other, that made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Despite being understaffed the service was great. We will definitely return.
Service was terrible. We had to ask repeatedly for our drinks, and they forgot part of our food order. I had brought friends to Terrain who were from out of town and I was mortified at how bad our experience was.
The food was ok, beautifully plated. Very nice restaurant. The service was not very good. Our waitress was obviously distressed about something and disappeared on us. We had to wait a long time before getting the check
Very nice brunch experience on a Sunday morning. Chai latte and fried avocado eggs Benedict were delish, and sitting outside felt safe.
Really underrated. They did a great Jod with the best cheese platter we’ve ever had, a really novel take on grilled cheese, and perfectly seared tuna.
Beautiful place for a Happy Hour with friends !!!!!
Great place to eat breakfast or brunch. Windows open wide and give you the sense of eating outside. Great place for people watching.
Unfortunately, it took them almost 45 minutes to get our table ready for us to sit down. They did comp us an appetizer for the wait, and I'm sure they're experiencing the same staffing shortages everyone is, but it didn't start us off on a great foot. The service was pleasant enough, and the food was good, if overpriced, but that describes a lot of Bethesda restaurants.
The avocado toast, shrimp grits and burger were each excellent. We were delighted
Good service, good food.
I have to overall give this place 2 stars. The only reason I gave it an extra star was because the food was decent. We ordered 4 things, all things they were out of stock. It began to get extremely frustrating when we would order something and they would return 5 minutes later saying "they were out of that item." It took them 20 minutes to get our drinks, 2 of which were just coffee and we had to hunt down our waitress and remind her of our order. I understand sometimes you run out of options but you should accommodate your customers accordingly. We had to reorder one of our Entrees because it had seaseme seeds in it and the person who ordered it can't eat that even though it didn't state in their menu that it came with seeds. That took another 20 minutes. The service was slow and nothing was done to make up for the terrible service.
Great food, pleasant surroundings (especially outdoors when the weather is good)....offset by mediocre service. The quality of the food here is excellent - an imaginative menu with interesting combinations, and it's well prepared and presented. For example, the mushroom soup was affirmatively outstanding, salads fresh with delicious additions, and hamburgers are amazing. But the lemon for the iced tea never came despite two requests; was impossible to track down our server to get another glass of wine, etc. The proof is that on a recent evening, the restaurant was half full, while up and down Woodmont Avenue every other place had waiting lines. Management -- WAKE UP!
Great presentation and innovative offerings. Appreciated diverse and healthier options that are still flavorful.
This restaurant is very attractive with plenty of windows and natural light. It was great to be back at the Terrain Cafe adjacent to Anthropology. We enjoyed our lunch a lot; I had the spinach salad and my friend really liked her Cauliflower
sandwich. The iced tea was fresh as well.
It was very enjoyable and we plan to return
The burger was phenomenal!! I’ll def be back for another soon. I’m already craving it. And the cocktails are delicious; I recommend the herbal grapefruit martini
The Glen Mills, PA location is way better. Granted they didn’t have as much space to work with here, but the better experience is in PA. Coffee was great, fries were great, steak added to two salads was good flavor but not good cut, impossible to chew. It was cooked to order medium. The service was also very slow. Waited a long time to receive coffee, at least 15 mins, and probably 20-30 mins to receive two Salads with steak added.
Perfect.!! Under the trees outdoors, closed street, good service.
Terrain Cafe was wonderful. While reservation was the only option during the pandemic, the staff were very helpful in making us feel comfortable and were very friendly, offered suggestions and encouraged us to ask questions if we had any. Sitting outside was nice because we were in the ambiance of the city but it was out of the way enough that it didn’t feel too busy. The menu, while smaller, was obviously well thought out and each meal was crafted to perfection. I ordered the avocado eggs Benedict, which was the perfect flavor combination and a great portion size. I would definitely recommend Terrain to a friend, as my experience was overwhelmingly positive.
Great place with great food and ambiance, would definitely recommend to all!
This was our first time out in four months and it was fabulous! We always love Terrain. We were the first people in the restaurant on a Saturday morning and felt badly for our server because we had the place to ourselves. The food was delicious, as usual.
Fresh, healthy and tasty. Great service.
Lovely cafe restaurant in Bethesda full of beautiful plants and very original decor. Feels like a rather stylish European place. Food was healthy and very delicious. Lots of interesting ideas on the menu I want to try at home. Noise level a wee bit loud (but we were sitting next to some shouters). A much-needed addition to Bethesda.
We found your"breakfast menu was very limited. The food was good but the limited choices will keep us from returning for a Sunday morning breakfast.
Love love love this place can’t say enough about it the food the atmosphere the staff all EXCELLENT!!
Menu doesn’t have much sustenance. Not a place to go to for brunch
Terrain had a wonderful menu with plenty of delicious options to choose from. Definitely not standard that you could get at any restaurant and they really put a special spin on every dish. I had to smoked salmon toast and the elderberry cocktail. The salmon and fried capers were amazing and my cocktail was delicious and not too sweet they went together quite well! Service was also lovely with very friendly wait staff. Would certainly go back or recommend to a friend.
What a nice treat. Different from other Bethesda staples, but extremely enjoyable. I will be back for sure!
