Earls Kitchen + Bar - Boston - Prudential Center
Despite making a reservation and confirming via Open table, I arrived at this restaurant (after a 50 minute drive) to find a sign on the door advising they were on summer vacation. This was extremely disappointing and I dont think I will be in any hurry to try it again.
Not that it was in their control but AC not working. Food was well prepared but nothing out of the ordinary. Found the taste of entrees a little bland. We'd had the mussels which were just OK. Bread was really good served with olive oil and spices. Had seen the restaurant featured on Phantom Gourmet and thought that we'd try it. Spaghetti and clam dinner was well prepared but thought the flavor profile to be less than I am used to. Tagliatelle was again well prepared but lacked a decent flavor level. Rigatoni Bolognese was good.
Four of us visited this restaurant on Saturday night. As we approached restaurant we saw a large truck idling in front with a huge dog head poked out of the moonroof. It was 90 degrees outside and in full sun. I was concerned about these poor dogs. We went into the restaurant and were seated immediately right in front of the floor to ceiling window that looked straight out to the car with the 2 dogs. They were very large dogs and understandibly distressed. I mentioned it to the waitress and she was very nice and sent over the hostess. The hostess at first said that "we are monitoring this situation and are also concerned". I thanked her but said if it was not corrected within 15 minutes I would call 911. She agreed with me but did nothing so I did call. Police came. Walked around car. Owner who was sitting at bar, on his second beverage and a meal went outside and talked to police. Then the police left and the man came back in and sat back down at the bar. I was pretty upset. He had made a comment to me as he walked by (not repeatable). So, nothing was done for these dogs. He did shut the moonroof but kept the truck running. It is illegal, by the way, in the state of MA to keep a car in idle for more than 5 minutes.
We finished our meal (pretty ordinary food) and before leaving, I talked with the hostess and she was not nice at all. You must realize that the entire front of restaurant window looked out at this car with two huge dogs in the front seat. She got rude and argumentative with me. My friend (retired FBI agent) also spoke with her and the owner/chef). Oh she said, "I KNEW you were from Pine Hills!! (!). They took no responsibility and no concern for the dogs, and did not apologize to us for having to experience this incident in their restaurant. They did, in fact, give considerable attention to the owner of the dogs, laughing with him and bringing him another beverage etc. What is going on? Do not visit TERRA in Plymouth.
The high ceilings and brick walls give this place a very nice feel. The waitress was exceptional with outstanding service. The food delicious! We sampled both bruschetta. One had broccoli rabe, peppers, Parmesan and some pickled onions. The other had fresh ricotta with slivers of snap peas. Both were great! We also shared the meatball as an appetizer. A true authentic Italian meatball with beef, pork and veal! Very similar to what nonni would make! For our main course we had the brick oven grilled swordfish with a pistachio vinaigrette and roasted snap peas and radishes. It was prepared to perfection. A must place to put on your list of South Shore restaurants.
Wonderful food. Service was very slow this evening.
Server was the best. Food good. Nice atmosphere.
Fantastic dining experience . Food, drinks and service were outstanding ! Can’t wait to go back
LOVE this place! First time there and loved the food. We had the hummus appetizer, and the squid ink pasta was divine! So was the handmade pasta with crab meat. Wonderful cocktails! Will be back for sure.
Outstanding food as always
Some trouble with order resulting in delay but server kept us posted and did good job with service recovery
Only our second visit but anticipate many more
Great ambience and food.
We’ve been wanting to visit Terra since it opened but it took quite some time. We had great service and the food was delicious and well prepared. We enjoyed the mussels for a starter and tried the herbed spinach tagliatelle with ample crab and large prawns , which I loved, as well as the carbonara, which was different and fine but less appealing. We also tried the rib steak with salsa verde, which was scrumptious. Dessert was limited so we went elsewhere. Overall, we were very happy with the food, service and atmosphere. We’ll be back!
They’ve done a nice job renovating to make it feel confortable, yet, cool. Nice bar if you’re just looking for drinks and apps. I liked it, and I would go again, but I’m not dying to go back if you know what I mean. The bruschetta appetizer was great, but the meat and cheese board was lack-luster. My meal (filet mignon) was pretty good, but my friends food was just OK. The cocktails and dessert are what make me want to give this place another try - my cocktail, a spicy martini called Dirty Dancing, and the warm cookie served with a shot of what I believe was Kahlua and espresso were both absolutely fantastic!
Pasta was excellent, especially the ricotta gnocchi with spring vegetables! Not many people there on a Wednesday night and noise levels were perfect. Expect a busy weekend night would be a little loud because of the big room, brick walls, tall windows. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
The food was excellent. Very tasty and well prepared. The menu is a bit limited but has appropriate diversity ( Duck, seafood, beef, chicken... ). Love the atmosphere. Great old building. Wood fired entres were an excellent touch with unique flavor and preparation for Plymouth. A little on the pricey side but worth it. Our second visit and we plan on attending again.
Second Mothers Day in a row here. Everyone was happy with the experience. Really friendly service and quality food at reasonable prices.
This was our third time here.
First time not impressed, but it was soon after they opened.
But we came back and very glad we did. Food just gets better and better. Our server “Mojo” was great. Food was excellent.
Be back soon I’m sure.
Inexperienced greeter (there was no actual greeting, then seated us in the only 15% full restaurant directly next to all the other diners), under stocked bar, weirdly small portions at not small prices, and I cannot help but judge poorly servers who, whether intentionally, or, unintentionally but deeply inconsiderately, waited until both of us had food in our mouths to ask after the quality of our meal. This place aims to be better but misses and it’s showing.
A little hard to find, but so glad we did! Food was great, service was great and atmosphere was fun. Definitely going back.
Friday evening at 7 pm and restaurant was more than 50% empty. Bad sign
I ordered swordfish for $30 . Waitress discouraged me from making changes to order from from what’s on menu.
Swordfish is delivered to table and it’s thin almost like a patty. For $30 I’m expecting a swordfish steak.
But rest of plate was fine if you’re a rabid vegetarian. Not 4 me.
three of us enjoyed dinner one quiet weekday night; i had the bolognese which was good, hubby had the lamb chops and our friend had the gnocchi. we started the meal with the cheese board which was also very good. would definately return again. server was knowledgeable about both the food and wine list.
The absolute best, most excellent Alaskan salmon. My friend had the steak, equally as excellent. The best meal either of us had had eating out in restaurants in pricey Plymouth. I never leave reviews, but our meals were truly a delight. Major drawback: Saturday night, and it was noisy, VERY noisy. Hard to converse, but go for the food!
Always very delicious food, we have been here several times and never been disappointed
The service was very confusing. Think we had three different people waiting on us. The menu listed “rack of lamb”. THREE lollipop lamb chops were served. Sorry, that’s NOT a rack of lamb. Very disappointing!
Another perfect night at Terra. The atmosphere, the service ( Mojo ) is the best, and of course the food. As usual Chef outdid himself. Amazing meatball appetizer, the best meatball I have ever had!!! I enjoyed the parsnip gnocchi and my husband had the swordfish. Both impeccably prepared. Leave room for dessert. The gelato is to die for. If you haven’t tried Terra, head to Plymouth and bring your appetite. Great place and great, welcoming staff. See you soon!
Great food and atmosphere! Will definitely return.
This was our first visit to Terra. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a San Francisco style restaurant with open space and brick walls which have been preserved from the building's original factory/warehouse use. The bar is very nice and one can eat at it. There is a wood burning fireplace incorporated into one corner of the room next to the open kitchen. Most of the food is prepared in this oven. It was not excessively noisy and I was able to carry on a conversation with my wife. We had had a late lunch so just had drinks (very good dirty martinis) and an entree. My wife had the spaghetti carbonara and I had the swordfish. Although both dishes were reasonably good, the carbonara was not as rich and did not have the expected pancetta flavor that we expected. The waiter told us that it is made with only one egg which made it too light for my wife's taste. I asked about the thickness of the swordfish before ordering and, when it arrived, it was about half the thickness I was told and, although not totally dried out, was definitely on the dry side. The flavor of the dish was good, however. The menu is large and diversified and anyone should be able to find several things that are appealing. We both noted several other appetizers, pastas and entrees that we would like to try and will definitely return to continue to experiment with the menu. The drinks, a glass of wine, the two dinners and the tip came to about $100. Terra is definitely worth a try.
Service was truly terrible
This place is 5 Stars across the board. Food service, atmosphere 5 plus.. call me a fan boy I’ll be back .. Thank You !!!
One of our favorites in Plymouth area
First time dining hear...we went early on a Saturday with an Open Table reservation. Seating wasn't a problem. Although it's a very open atmosphere, noise wasn't an issue - but it wasn't full yet. The restaurant was a little smokey from the wood burning oven. They didn't have any specials, so what you see on the menu is what they have. Their salads were different and good: Beet salad with whipped feta & pistachios and the burrata with winter citrus and arugula. Salmon entree was good, but not great. It was a little bland. Double pork chop was the better dish. The service was fine.
Went for Easter brunch and had a very nice meal. Would definitely go back again.
Expert cooking by chef owner .Staff and owner VERY FREINDLY.Wood oven prepared food is awesome! Scotch and bourbon selection is great.Sitting near oven and chefs is a treat ,you can interact and ask questions about food and drink pairings
I love the wood fired oven entrees. Chocolate cookies dessert is fantastic. The staff are wonderful.
Thank you so very much for a lovely anniversary dinner. My wife and I had a great evening. The open fire oven added to the ambiance. Everything was superb. A bit busy as it was a Saturday evening but it won't prevent our return. Thanks again.
This is one our favorite restaurants
The food was very good. A nice relaxing atmosphere. Well worth the trip.
I dine at Terra regularly. Yet to have a bad meal. The meals are always amazing, service is always great. I’m glad Plymouth has this gem around— I always recommend Terra when asked about Plymouth’s best restaurants.
We were a party of 4 and shared the meatball as a nibble before dinner. Everyone enjoyed their entree. Two of us had the duck breast, which was tender and juicy, with a great mix of spinach and forest mushrooms. The other orders were the double pork chop and the lamb rack- both very good. Would definitely go back!
So glad we had reservations through Open Table, we were seated right away and then it got very busy! There was a wait for the food, but worth it! Everything was made fresh and to order and it was absolutely delicious! There were 3 of us and we each got something different! The ceasar salad was large enough for the table to share and the bruschetta with the homemade fresh whipped ricotta and shaved brussel sprouts was to die for! I had the Spaghetti Carbonara, one of my old time favorites - not many restaurants make this dish and it was fabulous!!
The dishes were not huge, but more than enough for a satisfying meal! We skipped dessert as we were too full to eat another bite! Can't wait to go back!
Exceptional food and fantastic atmosphere.
Our waitress was extremely attentive.
We would go back!
