Terra - Eataly
Named for "earth" in Italian, Terra centers around the grill, where our chef cooks seasonal raw ingredients over burning flames, allowing the simple flavors to shine. The resulting earthy dishes pair perfectly with the botanical cocktails, premium Italian wines, and more.
Food was good, not great. Little gem salad with crab had very little crab. The eggplant dish and grilled artichoke were good.
lamb chop is not as good as usual
Food is very good but pricey. Service was a bit less than I expected.
$32 chewy swordfish? Sheesh! Wonderful service though
Average food ... ok service ... way overpriced ... and very hard to hear Amber else at the table ... a real disappointing evening for all four of us ...
Great ambiance and food. Service was ok. Took a little bit to get us started but once we did it was lovely. A Lil loud but not extreme. Today was my 2nd time. First time had dinner at the bar inside our waiter was great and the mushroom pasta I ordered was divine. Today I sat In the patio area and loved it! The prosciutto eggs Benedict was delicious and a tequila ginger cocktail I tried was on point. Will definitely keep coming.
Food was lackluster and not work the cost. Have had better Italian food at a greasy spoon pizza joint. The Ragu I had tasted like chef Boyardee
Cocktails were delicious and we were given enough time to enjoy them prior to the waiter taking our order. We shared a salad that really needed a third person. Both our pasta dishes were delicious and, of course, the gelato cart was a heavenly end to the meal.
Overall, the food and service was outstanding. Charcuterie board was divine, the skewered meat things also outstanding. Pasta was lovely but could use more flavor or something more unique. Smasho Cocktail was outstanding. The Gelato cart was a miss. The gelato was somewhat melted and soupy and there were no choices on the gelato, just the vanilla and not many toppings like I had recalled from the last visit. I'd skip the Gelato and have another smasho and go downstairs for dessert. Lovely location! Highly recommend.
Excellent service, outstanding food!! Loved it!
Absolutely stunning LA rooftop experience! And, the food is amazing too!
Exceptional view, wonderful cocktails, great people watching, incredible food!
The food was very good and the mushroom skewers were outstanding.
Unfortunately we felt that the options were very limited especially knowing what is available at eataly.
I have eaten at Terra for lunch and dinner a number of times. This lunch wasn't a memorable one. Two
of my guests had not been there and I believe they thought it was mediocre at best. Outside was busy and noisy - pastas not great (on other occasions they were terrific!). Artichokes were on overdone side - I recommended them because I had had them a number of times - and they were better. The bread basket fabric covering - grey - was soiled. We had to ask for water - bread -extra small plates - balsamic - you get the picture! I will try again but at your prices - if it's a repeat - there are just too many good restaurants out there to put up with noisy, indifferent, fair-good food.
Beautiful restaurant and ambience but the food was just okay. And very small portions for the price. A friend ordered the half chicken and it didn’t even come with a side. Just chicken on a plate. I would go back for the drinks and views. Not for the food.
Our food was fantastic and the server was great. We loved the atmosphere and will definitely be back.
Great place for brunch. staff is good and attentive. custom botanical cocktails are great. the custom ice cream bar was a lovely way to end the meal. Note to chefs -> some of the dishes were over salted. please REDUCE the salt.
I wanted to take my four clients to a unique place for our business dinner. I had previously experienced Terra and enjoyed the atmosphere. My clients had been traveling all day from Toronto. When I asked our waiter - Russell - if we could order an appetizer his arrogant response was that “The chef prefers that the entire order be made at once...”. Something to that effect. It was the way he said it that was off-putting. He left and we waited some time for our drink order to be made. He was very cocky and it set a tone for the rest of the evening. My guests didn’t care for the attitude either. Food portions were small. We were made to share one olive dipping dish and for a table of strangers that was awkward. We liked the ambiance. I would never sit in his section again. I would return even so.
Fabulous! I've never tasted such delicious food. Each course was perfect!
This is a gem. We will return!
I was very disappointed with the place. I had made a reservation to sit outside one week before but when I aarived they told me that The terrace was full and they put us on a table next to the kitchen very noisy. The food was nothing special , the price very high. I wouldn’t recommend this place and I am not going back EVER again!!
We love Eataly and shop there and eat on the second floor regularly. But every time we have gone to Terra, we have been treated as second class citizens. Even when we have had a reservation and been on time, the hostess has been rude and made us wait, then we never, ever get a table outside - even when we've requested it, are eating early and there are obviously tables not occupied. She always treats us as if we are asking for her life if we ask why we weren't seated outside. For us - this has happened too many times. The policy of having to wait "at the bar" until your entire party is there is just plain stupid. We arrived and our friends were maybe 5 minutes behind us. The bar is crowded and noisy. If we had been seated at our table to wait, we would have ordered a cocktail - but since that was not the case, we just waited at the check-in. Another time, we arrived just when the restaurant opened, on a weeknight - and all the tables outside and in were empty. The hostess told us they were all reserved but we could go to the bar and order. The bar was already crowded and noisy. We told her we would be finished before all her reservations arrived - they couldn't all be for the exact time - she refused us. We spoke to a manager and he seated us outside and even when we were finished and left, there were still many tables around us that still had not been occupied. We just had another bad experience there this week. For us it three strikes you're out! We will not go there again - the hostesses need lessons in treating everyone with respect and trying to think outside the box according to the circumstances. The waiting until the entire party arrives policy must be changed - waiting at the bar is not an easy option - it's crowded and noisy and you would be better off ordering a drink at your reserved table while you waited. We feel like they are always rude to us there. The waiters and managers are good, but the hostesses need better training.
Our lunch was perfect. From the trio of arrosticini, housemade burrata with panzanella salad, and ravioli di fava e pecorino - accompanied by a glass of lovely Tuscan rosé - to the housemade Fior di Latte gelato, with cherries, chocolate sauce, and cannoli crumble. And Michelina was a delightful and helpful server.
The veggies and service was very good!!
Very good food in a lovely setting. Service was terrible. For the price you pay for the food and ambiance, the service really needs to improve! I've been to Eataly about 5 times now and there always seems to be some mystery regarding their ability to seat you on the patio, even if you have made your reservations in advance and have requested patio seating, patio seating doesn't seem to be guaranteed. Seems to be a last minute decision with on host granting access and another blocking access. Overall, the food is very tasty and nicely presented with a lovely view of the Hollywood Hills. So I will continue to go and recommend it to friends. The gelato with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and Maldon salt is amazing! Just tighten up on the service please...there's plenty of other places to go in L.A.!
Food was great and I felt I was in Italy! (And I've been everywhere). Love the breeze Terra gets even in hot weather.
We have visited Terra multiple times and have always found the food to be outstanding. We have never had a complaint about the food. On our most recent visit we had an unfortunate experience to have a very surly waiter. He did not like the fact that we were not ready to complete our order immediately, but wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine with our cheese and meat board. He completely vanished.
As a rule when you arrive at the reception desk they are not very warm and friendly. I just do not feel that they are in the customer service business.
The food is outstanding, but the experience could be a lot nicer.
Terra has great cocktails and meat dishes (from the grill). I definitely don’t recommend brunch here, at all.
I showed up for my reservation at Terra and had a great meal today but then I received an email from Open Table that my reservation was a “No Show” and I did not receive my points. Pls clarify with Terra Eatlaly that indeed I showed up at 12:45 and sat outside.
This is the second time this has happened which is very annoying!
Pls confirm that I will be awarded my points otherwise I will not use Open Table any longer.
Thank you for you attention to this matter!!!
Took more than 35 minutes to get our orders, coffee was cold. Server took another 30 or so minutes to bring toast and jam and by then our brunch was done. Very disappointed in service!
The entrees and appetizers were amazing, but the dessert for the DineLA Prix Fix was very disappointing... the rolling gelato cart was only 1 flavor and you could add toppings to it. It tasted more like a shaved ice than gelato so that was pretty disappointing for Eataly. The atmosphere is really fun and loud and lively, but I almost wish we had just sat at the bar area which had better views at sunset.
Delicious Italian cuisine with a great rooftop view of LA!!
We went for dinela. The menu was wonderful cocktails were good. Just an overall really nice dinner with girlfriends.
Absolutely, because I go there so often for business and pleasure, hoping to see some changes in the menu soon...
Overall just bad service. Very disappointed
We had to wait 15 minutes past our reservation time to get seated... But the beautiful outdoor space on a balmy night, the string lights and the fun vibe made up for it.
The lunch cheese and meats plate was very ordinary. There were only 2 kinds of cheeses- Parmesan and bursts. There were way too many peppers. The calamari was delicious.
Great setting with consistently great food - better if they would bring back the pork chop!!!
I really had high hopes for this restaurant since it is a part of Eataly, which I visit often. After trying this restaurant 3 times, hoping the experience would be better, it just got worse each time. It's too bad because the food is good but the hostesses are completely clueless and the waitstaff is very short-staffed so the service is not good at all. One of the times I made a reservation for 8, weeks ahead of time to get seated at 8:45. Isn't the purpose of a reservation to be seated at the time you requested or even close to that time? Another time I specifically requested to sit outside and was assured that was possible even when we arrived, only to be told a few minutes later that it wasn't possible. Maybe they need new staff, new management or something but unfortunately, I will not be returning. I think giving a restaurant 3 tries is enough. There are plenty of other good restaurants in LA.
The man serving the gelato in the cart was stressed, unfriendly and couldn’t smile if you paid him.
I wouldn't recommend the DineLA menu at Terra. I found it underwhelming and not a good value compared to other DineLA restaurants (i.e. Tartine Bianco, Rossoblu, Orsa & Winston, Morton's, etc.).
However, I would go back again and try some different things, i.e., charcuterie, pasta, etc. The setting on the terrace is terrific with a view of the Hollywood Hills. They have a fun offering for dessert - a guy arrives table-side with a gelato cart from which you can pick all your toppings (Amarena cherries, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, almond praline, cannoli crumbs, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt). Overall the service was OK - nothing special.
