Terra at Eataly Boston
Food was pretty good- the chicken was amazing but it is only a plate of chicken. For dessert, the bombolone were really good!
-We waited 20 minutes for our table (We had a reservation). 10 minutes into waiting the hostess called my phone to ask if we were coming for our table (while we were standing 5 feet from her). We still had to wait after she called.
-The wait staff was not very attentive, we had to get the waiters attention for everything (to order drinks, to order food, for water, for the dessert menu, for the check).. it was painful.
Overall experience was excellent. But the drinks outshined the food and for the price I would have given 5 stars if the food was more impressive. It was what we expected for going to a nice place to eat but not special. The atmosphere was very nice, a little tight but it made it cozy. The service is excellent.
The food never disappoints and the staff is super pleasant, accommodating... they just made sure we have a nice experience and it was very much appreciated!
The food was not as good as what I have had in NY and Chicago's Eataly's. The service was impolite and rushed.
Overall it was really just OK. It was expensive for what it was. We have no problem dropping serious money at nice Boston restaurants but usually feel we get good value. The food here was just average. Many of the menu items were very unusual which can be a good thing to try something new, but they lacked enough typical things for the less adventurous. Portions were very small. $9 for literally 3 bites of sausage, and I mean bites, all together about 1 oz of sausage. I got a special where is was suposed to be a sampling of different cuts of beef. It was cooked the right temperature but all the cuts were tough. The charcuterie board was decent but at $34 for it I was not overly impressed. I get a much better board for about $22 at Amelia's in Stoughton. The hostess had a bit if an attitude. The server did a good job. It was worth trying and I am not sad I went but I would not try it again.
authentic Italian food, excellent service, overall a great experience
We arrived early for our reservation and enjoyed a drink at the bar. There were lots of varied options Including seasonal cocktails. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, providing recommendations for sides. We had the charcuterie board, waygu steak and some skewers. The board could have been a meal in itself and we were too full for dessert by the end of the meal. Overall we enjoyed our stay and plan to visit again.
Nothing special. It was ok. Rate is “fine”
Although I would love to see more vegetarian pasta options, the wine menu is outstanding and the service and ambiance amazing. Excellent al dente pomodoro.
My food was cold and didn’t seem cooked all the way
Having been to Terra before I was excited about my visit this time around. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like my first and I'd be hesitant to go back. The service seemed rushed, the food was a bit bland, and just overall a mediocre experience.
The service was great, the food excellent, and the ambience very enjoyable.
Our service was outstanding and the food was delicious!
Table was so crowded with servers moving on all sides of us we could hardly eat. Loud and distracting patrons. Food so-so. Drinks (seltzer) took 20 minutes to arrive.
Fun environment, tasty options, small portions, unhelpful waitress.
It was not as good as expected and especially for the price
We loved the atmosphere of Terra. The wood grill skewers were awesome. Service was a bit slow but we were also ridiculously hungry so that amplified it tenfold. The Alaskan crab legs were yummy. The disappointment was the seafood risotto. First bite into the mussel and it was sandy, then came the watery risotto - we sent it back and they took it off the bill. Overall a good experience and would suggest for a fun dining experience.
We want to love this place. However, our second time visiting, and we remain underwhelmed. Food inconsistent, have waited over 30 mins both times for a reserved table, noisy atmosphere that made it hard to have a converesation. Add to all this the price tag, and unfortunately, we are waiving the white flag. There are much better Italian food options in Boston for the price.
The ambiance was really nice, but it was overcrowded. We were squished together between two other loud tables. Our waiter was phenomenal - very knowledgable, and didn't try to upsell us when we asked for a wine recommendation. The food came out quickly, but I wasn't impressed. For the price, you receive so little, and the flavors just weren't there. I love the concept, but I wouldn't recommend it.
The duck skewer and lamb were AMAZING! Pasta with sausage was just average and the mussels in the risotto were subpar. The octopus in the risotto was also spectacular, so weird that all seafood wasn’t fresh. Loved the after dinner drinks that were recommended by Ana, our server. A great meal! It was pretty loud and busy at first, but after a glass of wine and our food table location, we were tucked away. Also the hostess stand at the top of the stairs is a disaster waiting to happen. I had to wait on the stairs for people to move and there isn’t a lot of space at the top of the stairs. I’d move the stand down the stairs.
I made the reservations well in advance and just for two people. We arrived and they stuck us in the nook right next to the table of wine. I was waiting for someone to clock me in the head with a bottle. While the meal was good, there were other opened two seat options in the made dining area. Still wondering why they chose that spot to seat us.
Table close to door that could not be closed all the way, so a noticeable draft was present for entire dinner even after asking the manager to fix.
My girlfriend and I love to eat at Terra. it is a gorgeous space with a cozy, yet elegant atmosphere. Whether you sit at one of the multiple bars or at a table, you will be certain to enjoy the view. We've been several times and have had consistently great experiences. What would bring this restaurant to a five for me would be a greater selection of vegan/vegetarian dishes/sides and a slightly lower price point for. However, the money we've put into this fine establishment has been worth every bite!
Great atmosphere, good service and amazing food highly recommended
Food and service were absolutely amazing. Great wine, knowledgeable and attentive service, no rush on a busy night. Very enjoyable night out!
Although our reservation was made days in advance and we arrived on time after a rush ride from the airport and then from the hotel, no efforts were made to acknowledge the special occasion we were celebrating and as a result of that, a very inferior table location was provided.
Our orders were not acknowledged at the table as there was confusion as to who ordered what. A very typical occurrence when there’s a lack of communication and no attention to detail. Our wine order was mistaken as our server lacked the knowledge of the wines being on the menu, no effort was made to compensate that we ended up with a different wine than the originally ordered.
The rush and lack of attention adds up to the already commercial loud food court ambience that really goes against all the marketing efforts that go in creating a piece of Italian gastronomy.
Food quality and presentation is minimal and exudes lack of imagination with the already simplistic approach to a cuisine that could be more elevated. Poor value and rich hype. Sadly, we will not return.
The food was delicious and the waitstaff was great.
Delicious food, great service, exciting atmosphere. Our first time Eataly.
The restaurant was not busy at the time and we were seated next to a business couple who talked loudly, without stop about work the entire time we were there. Be aware of where you are seated. The service and food was amazing but the ambiance not so much.
Was so excited to visit Terra, but sadly from the time we entered the restaurant we were so impressed with the visual layout but quickly disappointed.
We entered and checked in early with host. We were not welcomed to restaurant or greeted. We were simply told we were too early and could not be seated until our scheduled time. We did not expect to he seated early. We had wanted to get a drink at the bar.
We proceeded to the bar, and my fiancé who is 40 was carded and he was refused a drink given he left his ID st home. I get the bartender's point of view and liability, and I understand that he may look younger but not under 21. It was uncomfortable with others present.
Our server was great. Upbeat and so helpful! We selected the Chef's menu which was $85 dollars per person.
We were so excited with initial courses, but the pasta course and meat course were entirely a let down.
The meat particularly was so salty that we could not enjoy it.
The dessert course was quite good. However we were surprised that although we paid $85 dollars each we only were served one dessert.
It would have been nice to have a printed or written list of our menu.
The other servers explained the courses, but the restaurant is so loud we could not hear them.
We expected a wonderful experience, but we felt let down overall by our Terra experience.
Food and service were both good, but marred by uncomfortable, cramped seating, a table that was far too small for our party of 5 (even with a reservation made well in advance), and a noise level that made regular conversation near-impossible.
Excellent food and outstanding service! Thanks for a wonderful evening.
