Terra at Eataly Boston
Delizioso come sempre!
Was very disappointed.
Went to the similar Eataly restaurant in New York before and it was great - ambiance, low level noise, spacious setting, fantastic food.
This one here in Boston is the opposite - small tables are bunched up together so you re literally into someone else’s face with waiters tripping on peoples chairs and stuff - as its impossible to navigate around; half of the items on the menu that day were out - even though it was 2 pm; those that were available were a tiny little tapas style thing for a price of a good size plate! My “leg of lamb” dish were literally two little wafer thin slices of lamb on a pita bread - for $24 !
Would not recommend the place at all. If you want good authentic italian food in a great setting - go to any of the famed places in the North End instead.
I was expecting Terra to be a great Italian experience with good food, great drinks, good service, but it was quite the opposite. The tables are so close together and the chairs are like cafeteria chairs, making it not a very comfortable place to eat. The food was sub par at best. I was expecting really good Italian dishes given the name and the price you pay for each dish ($28-$35 for a pasta dish), but I felt the food was just ok. In fact, the rigatoni dish tasted like a hamburger helper pasta dish. The appetizers we ordered were also not that great. When I order bruschetta at an Italian restaurant, I would expect a nice large slab of bread stacked with toppings. Instead, you get two tiny pieces of French bread with cheese on top. The bread was also very disappointing. Again, for an Italian restaurant located above an Italian market, I would expect the bread to be the best part. Nope, not at all. It was rubbery and cold. Finally, the service was not very great. We had booked a reservation for 7:30 and weren't seated until 7:50. The hostesses paid no attention to us while we waited. When we got to the table, we might have seen our waiter for a total of 3 times the entire night. When we ordered drinks, when we ordered food, and when we got the bill. We couldn't order another drink because he never checked in on us. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. Unless they decide to step up their game, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Dinner and service were excellent. Definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Great meal... though the serving of the gnocchi special was a bit small. Our waiter (missed his name) noticed the serving was scant, and brought us another full plate - free. Great customer service. Felt very well cared for! The restaurant itself is also gorgeous. Great wine list and cocktails. Will definitely be back.
Meetup with traveling friends after see the Travel Show at the Hynes. Didn’t seem to matter that we had a reservation and had to wait. Food was great, service was lacking and slow. Hard to get servers attention for anything. Part of the order was missed until I asked about it. People seemed nice and happy to be working but possibly overwhelmed? Pasta was extra al dente and a bit too raw for one of us. It was very crunchy. Hard to get salt and pepper and the timing always seemed off.
Great meal after a family night out in Boston. Server was very attentive AND knowledgable. Food was wonderful, my daughter got the whole fish which was spectacular. Will definitely return.
Heavily upset with the food quality at Terra, nothing comparable to what you'll find downstairs. We ordered the truffle pasta and grilled chicken. It was so salty and unflavored that we had to send it back. The meat/cheese board and the chocolate mousse where outstanding but the main entrees did not match the standard. I highly recommend against ordering the rum cake as it tasted like nail polish. Honestly, I'm not sure what was going on when I was there with the kitchen but the food was pretty bad sadly.
Really great food, service was a little slow but the place is always packed!!
As always Terra is the perfect lunch spot when looking to dine at the Prudential but not at the usual restaurants in the Prudential. The staff is super friendly, helping with wine suggestions and menu items. Very attentive to details and quick to assist. Looking forward to my next dining experience at Terra.
Our waitress was especially pleasant, knowledgeable and very accommodating! Raised our lunch experience to excellent!
Outstanding as always - our eight visit since October
Food was amazing wine was amazing well worth the cost
I didnt expect such a casual atmosphere for this dort of elevated food
The food quality was great but the portions are teeny! Felt like an expensive snack.
Our family of 4 had a wonderful dinner. It was a truffle price fix. Great salad, amazing pork and polenta entree. DELICIOUS!
It was a special occasion and convenient to attending an event at the Eataly school. However, I ordered the special that the waiter highly recommended. It was Black Cod Collar. Being familiar with this at Japanese restaurants, I was very disappointed with the appearance . My husband said I should have sent it back. It looked like everything left over from the fish that no one would eat and it cost $36. There was more bone that actual fish on the plate. The best thing about the meal was the side of potato. My husband’s pasta was good. My son ordered the lamb. It was ok.
I also understand that wine lists tend to be x4 the cost of a retail bottle but with so many bottles over $100 and what we would purchase at a store for $10 being more than $60, you do not get any values for wine at this restaurant.
This is the 3 rd time we have tried Terra. It will be the last.
Really amazing food. Everything was excellent
Great food and service. Very expensive. Too loud for easy conversation between more than 2 people.
Very tight communal table even with our party of 5. Loud. Beautiful space atop Eataly. Food was very, very good but small appetizer portions and meals were all a la carte. Pastas were excellent. Chicken under a brick was perfect! Risotto was flavorful but soupy (needed a few more minutes to “manticare.” Still a very delicious meal.
Pork chop undercooked. Sent it back. When they brought it back the best part, the tenderloin, was missing. It took them almost 25 minutes to replace it. By then, the 6 others at the table had finished. Not to be unfair, it was perhaps the best I’d ever had.
I love pasta al dente, but the pizzochieri pasta and the potatoes in it were undercooked. And there were perhaps only 3 or 4 scraps of the delicious Savoy cabbage in the dish. The waiter was gracious and efficient. Asked if we would like another glass of wine while waiting for the return of the pork chop, deeming to imply it would be comped. In the end, no accommodation for any of the issues.
The restaurant decor was amazing, the wine was good. But what I didn’t like was that the kitchen closed at 9:00 and my reservation was at 9:00. Even tho the service was excellent.
Excellent place!!!! Love it!!!
We were celebrating Christmas a day early before taking our son and his girlfriend to the airport. All four of us had wanted to go to Terra for a long time and we were excited to enjoy this experience. Our waiter was less than friendly and did not exhibit any holiday spirit. Two of the four meals were very good - the other two were ok - the presentation was lacking. The noise level was high and the table area very crowded. Needless to say, we do not plan on returning. There are many other restaurants in Boston that we would enjoy much more.
Fun place with great food and wines. We enjoyed it.
Overpriced mediocre food with a thin veil of fake Italian authenticity that isn’t fooling anyone. There is a way of cooking simple but delicious classic Italian dishes that delight, but these folks have no clue how to do that. Instead we get insulting presentation of the most basic, badly cooked food that left us feeling ripped off and insulted. We’ve been to Italy and this ain’t it.
Excellent food. Service was good. The warm salad, and the king crab were both outstanding.
Poor service. I had to ask for the check three times. When I finally got it, the same problem--being ignored--was repeated when I was ready to pay. It took half an hour to check out. This is not satisfactory.
It was Avery nice experience!
Food and wine was good as usual. Service was surprisingly poor. They forgot an appetizer and we had to remind the waiter - our entrees then came before the app. Then the waiter came by with water and never asked if we needed more wine (our entrees were still on the table and glasses empty). When we ordered dessert, the food came but they never brought us utensils after clearing the entrees. And then again the waiter forgot a component of the order, this time the coffee (we watched the waiter leaning against the espresso machine two tables away). I hope this is just a blip and will go back again.
An evaluation results from the interplay of expectations and performance. This restaurant was perfectly OK, but our expectations were of fine dining, and that is not what we got. The restaurant is busy, crowded, and noisy. Tables are close together. My chair was bumped into by every member of the waitstaff who passed by me. On the plus side, the food was very good and the service was friendly and attentive. Wines by the glass were very good. OK; we've been there and we had a good meal, but probably not again.
This is the best restaurant inside Prudential. God food , good service always. The only comment is I still have to wait even with reservation
Food and service were excellent no complaints at all. My 7 yo son has a special diet and they couldn’t have been any more accommodating..Appetizers were great, chef sent some treats for kids and the dinner was awesome. Thanks for everything Eataly! We will be back ( this is our 4th visit to an Eataly and it’s customer service is so consistent even internationally , great work)
Interesting menu but overpriced for even Boston. Everything Ala cart and extremely loud. I lived in Italy so I know Italian food - this is very northern which I like - but so spectacular to support the price tag.
The quality of the food was high but the portions for the price point were not sufficient. It was a bit on the loud side but otherwise the environment was pleasant for a late lunch.
