We’ve been 3 times. First time great. Second time, pretty good. This time a little disappointing. Sat nite, 7:30pm. Not many people there. Ordered the octopus app. Tasted fishy. Pasta and cauliflower good. I think more options on the menu needed. Where’s the crowd? Outdoor dining was great but odd table. Waitperson was a low talker. A problem at a lively restaurant. Hope things change. I hate to see places fail. Not sure if we will venture back.
Food is always great. Menu changes so you can always try something new. Waitstaff is very attentive and accommodating.
food was delicious: service was great; good wine selection
Smells like buttered popcorn
Great staff that accommodated my ordering mistake. I’m vegan and sandwich had cheese. So nice to remake. I just asked for new bread.
Our waiter was very good...but we waited 45 minutes to an hour for our food.
The Kitchen was very slow and it wasn't very crowded.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Tatiana our waitress was terrific, and really knew a lot about the wine list. The food was great, and the outdoor patio is perfect on a beautiful summer night.
The waitress stood behind us everyone she came to talk to us
The tables around us were so noisy and crass
The food was mediocre at best. The cheese plate appetizer seemed like it came out of a grocery store refrigerator section, complete with Heinz mustard?
And my meal was pretty good- pasta pescatore
My partners meal was like a lean cuisine meal. All salt no flavor- it was the creamy linguine dish.
My friend and I had a lovely lunch on their outdoor patio. It was my first time at Terra & Vine. The wines by the glass were delicious. The brussels sprouts crostini and wild mushroom arancini were to die for . . . and a very generous serving. Best brussels sprouts dish I've ever had! I will definitely go back -- hopefully very soon!
T&V's menu at dinner is missing the mark with the Evanston pre or post movie and family clientele. The pizzas are too fancy. There is no Caesar salad. The pasta was bland and in dire need of salt and extra Parmesan cheese. Why no burger, even a $20 fancy burger? We have tried it multiple times because of the convenience, but we always leave disappointed. Brunch is a different story! They serve one of the best ones around! We will need to see more matinees!
The service is great. The food was ok- the arancini I ordered were great, but my salmon was something I could have easily made at home.
We had a great experience! We visited for a late lunch and the food was delicious, reasonably priced and the service was great. The noise level was quiet, since we were seated outside and we were the only party seated outdoors. We were introduced to Alpana Singh and she's lovely. Very attentive. Definitely recommended :)
We love this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and the vast wine list has plenty of affordable options to choose from. If you can't decide, ask the staff. They are very helpful in finding the perfect glass or bottle for your group. If you're lucky, Alpana will stop by to make sure you're enjoying your wine. Try the arancini to start...it will make you want to order a second round. Always say yes to the dessert menu. To top it off, the open kitchen, ambiance and decor are so welcoming that you can't help but sit back and enjoy.
My husband and I were celebrating his birthday and decided to choose T & V, which luckily for us just down the street a few blocks. We've been there before on a few occasions and have been generally pleased with the experience. I had my favorite, the luscious beef shortribs, with mashed potatoes, a chianti sauce/gravy, and green beans done just right. It's a very hearty dish, and I had plenty to take home. My husband had the Branzino (?), which he liked but thought the flavor of the bean ragout was a little overpowering. The only thing that was less than pleasing was the dessert experience. We chose the flourless chocolate mousse cake with raspberry coulis and fresh raspberries. When it arrived -- no raspberry sauce, but instead a chocolate sauce drizzle beneath the cake. The waiter explained "they were out of the coulis." The cake was delicious, but the lack of the essential raspberry coulis should have been addressed ahead of time, or they should say that the item was unavailable. They did take the dessert off the bill, but we thought it was rather unprofessional to make an unannounced substitute. Dining on the patio requires patience for the noisy Metra stop right across the intersection but is otherwise very pleasant. We'll be back.
Service is great!
Cauliflower app is delicious, pasta is nice.
Cocktails and wine wonderful.
It's becoming a regular spot for us :)
Brought our friends from out of town. Everyone loved it!!
The pasta was merely warm and gray in color. Not very tasty. The wine was overpriced and was not served chilled. (It was a white.) Very disappointing.
Our dinner was fabulous. We had Mediterranean Salad and the short ribs. The ribs had no fat, no bone and melted in your mouth like butter. It was our first visit and we will be back.
We were a big group, 12 people, and our overall experience was great and the food was amazing!!
I had the salmon with pea puree and cauliflower. The salmon was good. I wasn't a fan of the sides.
The owner, Alpana, is fabulous. She is extremely talented and successful. We have visited Terra and Vine this summer on a few occasions for both lunch and dinner. It was very enjoyable. Our waiter Doug was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The salads and sandwiches are terrific for lunch. For dinner, we had the white fish which was fresh and delicious. I recommend this restaurant for casual dining and it’s great for groups. Say “hello”to the owner/sommelier, she is quite amicable and interesting. BTW, they have a nice patio.
Service from Kevin was great!
Appetizers were delicious, cocktails and wine were very nice.
Fondue, roasted kale and quinoa salad excellent
Salmon special and mushroom pasta were also really good!
We got a photo with Alpana too!
Definitely we will be back!
first time at the restaurant . It is next door to the movie theater so it was very convenient. Has excellent food and a number of choices with a lovely atmosphere and attentive service. Will definitely come here again.
I had been here before and greatly enjoyed. This visit left a lot to be desired. $4 for 2 slices of bacon, a server that just went through the motions and then gave us the wrong check, double the amount of ours. Restaurant did not have more than 6 tables occupied and a couple was seated right behind us in a corner. Greatly disappointed and if this would have been my first visit, I definitely would not have suggested to my friends for yesterday.
I have been to Terra and Vine several times and have enjoyed each visit. Good food, good wine, and good service.
I was especially privileged to have met the owner and master sommelier, Alpana Singh. She offered an alternative to Pinot Grigio which was outstanding. The food was tremendous and our server was so friendly and accommodating!
lunch was not nearly as good as a great dinner we had there in April. the aranchini is great but the hamburgers were burnt and not tasty. so yes for dinner no for lunch.
Food was good. Wine was overpriced. Servers were distracted - too many diners, too few servers.
One of the best lunches in the area!!! Food was fantastic and Luis our server superb!! Since I have food allergies it was great to know that everything is natural and no seasoning packets or artificial flavorings. Fresh all the way!! Thank you Pablo!! As the manager you should be very proud of your team!!!!
Went for brunch. Had breakfast burrito which was delish. Others had custom omelettes with fantastic potatoes. Sunday afternoon most people are eating outside so inside is "friendly quiet."
Service was extremely slow and inconsistent. We shared this feedback with the hostess who informed us there had been changes with the chef and they had been receiving other complaints recently. Very disappointing experience.
When we first arrived, a hostess brought us back to an enclosed room that was empty. There were no windows and I asked if we could please be seated in the main dining room. Hostess looked annoyed and I felt was rude. She then put us in front of the kitchen area, not much better. I was willing to wait in bar, but did not want to make a deal of anything. My 3 friends had never been and were disappointed in the table and the attitude of the hostess. Our waitress was sweet and food was good
Great food in open restaurant. Took elderly relative who loved the open space and great food.
When we first arrived at Terra & Vine, in Evanston, the hostess looked at our online reservation and seated us in a booth adjacent to the opened kitchen counter. After we were seated, another hostess came to our table and asked me if I had made a reservation. When I replied yes, she did not believe me, so I pulled out my cell phone to show her my reservation that included the confirmation number and my name. This was awkward to my husband and the other couple we were with.
While the four us waited for our food, we observed the plater behind the counter, fingering food with his fingers off of a spoon onto the plate. (No gloves) He then wiped the counter
with a dirty rag and then wiped the plated food plate edges with the same rag. He also tasted food with his fingers from the plate. We reported this to the manager. She apologized and said she will talk to him. She didn't offer us any compensation for our one hour wait for food and unsanitary food preparation. She said if we wanted to leave we could. So the four of us left.
It was very disappointing.
The food does not match the look and feel to the place. Food was average at best and the server didn't know her menu. I asked about the mussles and she couldn't describe what the portion was like but said it was like mussels in soup. I'm
Great for outdoor seating. Nice wine selection. Good food and service. We had a very nice evening.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and it is usually good. But this time very disappointing. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm. I mentioned it as I walked in and the gentleman who seated us said rather gruffly “it’ll be fine after you settle in”. It wasn’t! The waiter was ok but not attentive. The bus boys came too often and took plates while others were still eating. He had his hand on my bread plate even after I asked that he leave it, clearly not understanding English that well. I order skirt steak and it was very tough. I didn’t return it because I didn’t want to wait while my friends ate their dinners. The dessert was not good. We left most of it. I really thought the entire evening was uncomfortable.
Great for a good conversation. Food is tasty and a great value; nice to have something other than a chain to go to in Evanston.
We went here on a Saturday night with some friends. Even though it was last minute, we were able to get a reservation for 4 people within 30 minutes of our preferred time.
We bought a bottle of Italian red for the table that was delicious. Instead of entrees, we got several appetizers and shared. The brussel sprouts were fantastic and my husband loved to octopus. Great fresh bread with butter too!
