Food was good. Wine was overpriced. Servers were distracted - too many diners, too few servers.
One of the best lunches in the area!!! Food was fantastic and Luis our server superb!! Since I have food allergies it was great to know that everything is natural and no seasoning packets or artificial flavorings. Fresh all the way!! Thank you Pablo!! As the manager you should be very proud of your team!!!!
Went for brunch. Had breakfast burrito which was delish. Others had custom omelettes with fantastic potatoes. Sunday afternoon most people are eating outside so inside is "friendly quiet."
Service was extremely slow and inconsistent. We shared this feedback with the hostess who informed us there had been changes with the chef and they had been receiving other complaints recently. Very disappointing experience.
When we first arrived, a hostess brought us back to an enclosed room that was empty. There were no windows and I asked if we could please be seated in the main dining room. Hostess looked annoyed and I felt was rude. She then put us in front of the kitchen area, not much better. I was willing to wait in bar, but did not want to make a deal of anything. My 3 friends had never been and were disappointed in the table and the attitude of the hostess. Our waitress was sweet and food was good
Great food in open restaurant. Took elderly relative who loved the open space and great food.
When we first arrived at Terra & Vine, in Evanston, the hostess looked at our online reservation and seated us in a booth adjacent to the opened kitchen counter. After we were seated, another hostess came to our table and asked me if I had made a reservation. When I replied yes, she did not believe me, so I pulled out my cell phone to show her my reservation that included the confirmation number and my name. This was awkward to my husband and the other couple we were with.
While the four us waited for our food, we observed the plater behind the counter, fingering food with his fingers off of a spoon onto the plate. (No gloves) He then wiped the counter
with a dirty rag and then wiped the plated food plate edges with the same rag. He also tasted food with his fingers from the plate. We reported this to the manager. She apologized and said she will talk to him. She didn't offer us any compensation for our one hour wait for food and unsanitary food preparation. She said if we wanted to leave we could. So the four of us left.
It was very disappointing.
The food does not match the look and feel to the place. Food was average at best and the server didn't know her menu. I asked about the mussles and she couldn't describe what the portion was like but said it was like mussels in soup. I'm
Great for outdoor seating. Nice wine selection. Good food and service. We had a very nice evening.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and it is usually good. But this time very disappointing. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm. I mentioned it as I walked in and the gentleman who seated us said rather gruffly “it’ll be fine after you settle in”. It wasn’t! The waiter was ok but not attentive. The bus boys came too often and took plates while others were still eating. He had his hand on my bread plate even after I asked that he leave it, clearly not understanding English that well. I order skirt steak and it was very tough. I didn’t return it because I didn’t want to wait while my friends ate their dinners. The dessert was not good. We left most of it. I really thought the entire evening was uncomfortable.
Great for a good conversation. Food is tasty and a great value; nice to have something other than a chain to go to in Evanston.
We went here on a Saturday night with some friends. Even though it was last minute, we were able to get a reservation for 4 people within 30 minutes of our preferred time.
We bought a bottle of Italian red for the table that was delicious. Instead of entrees, we got several appetizers and shared. The brussel sprouts were fantastic and my husband loved to octopus. Great fresh bread with butter too!
Enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, pasta and fish. Great server,
Excellent as always here
Location was the reason I picked this place. The food was disappointing, for the price and not what I expected for Mother's Day brunch.
Went for Mother's Day brunch and food and service were great!
Went there for a girls night out. The ambiance was perfect. This dinner was not rushed like some restaurants. Our waiter took her time with the orders, which really let us enjoy our wine and conversation between our food orders. The actual food was great. Everything we had was delicious.
The food was awful. My cauliflower dish was recommended by the waiter but it was so un-good .
The worst restaurant I can recall going to. Everything about it was unappealing. Server- rude and rushed us for no reason. Food- average at best. Noise level from busing tables was incredible. Staff setting up for the morning at 8:45 on a Sat. Night. A total disappointment for a date night. So many charming restaurants in Evanston; this was terrible in all areas. Don’t waste your time or $
The food was ok but the service was pathetic and the bathrooms are dirty
There was mold on the olives in my Bloody Mary and the manager refused to take responsibility. An utter disappointment.
A wonderful experience and excellent service. Marcos took great care of us and we followed his recommendations on a couple of dishes. Ordered from the Alpana featured wine list and we valid not have been more impressed.
I had the Vacation with shrimp and vegetables. It was very good.tgere was enough to eat for lunch the next day.
They made us feel quite rushed and we were with friends trying to enjoy a leisurely dinner. Food was quite good. They say they have "valet" but there was one person (it was a Saturday night), and he could not remember where our car (or the car for the people in front of us) was parked. Both our groups ended up walking in the "general direction" that he thought they were. To "valet" cost $7 (plus the tip)--ridiculous.
Mid-week dining with 5 others. The restaurant wasn’t full, so we were able to have a relaxing meal with good conversation. The design is welcoming and comfortable. The server was attentive and accommodated numerous requests for allergies and preferences. Enjoyed the meal a lot. Will definitely be back for another go-round.
I notified the restaurant beforehand that my dining guest was both vegan and gluten intolerant. I expected the server to be a bit discreet about it, instead he made a big deal about it and listed everything she couldn’t have. Wouldn’t it make more sense to come up with something that she could have?
Otherwise, the venue was enjoyable.
wine list is a treat, so many options
menu has variety/options
professional and respectful staff
most of all meeting Alpana Singh was a treat. my colleagues were thrilled to meet her. She is professional, but also personable, down to earth and very knowledgeable.
High quality, locally sourced ingredients presented beautifully in upscale environs. This is not a place to go to save money, and the value is in the food quality.
you get a fine dining meal at a reasonable price..the portions are good and the wine selections are the best
Good food, friendly atmosphere and a great wine list.
Doug was our server and very attentive and informative and made our dining experience a pleasure.
Every bite of food was delicious, and we enjoyed the wine selection as well. The roasted cauliflower and shrimp pasta dish were so, so tasty and we were very pleasantly surprised. We were able to walk directly into the movie theater from the bar area, making it a perfect date night.
Excellent service by friendly, competent staff. Good food and wine.
Food came out quick and was pretty good. But our server was by far one of the best. He was attentive and respectful. My receipt says our server was Marcos N. Give him a raise.
Perhaps the best meatballs I've ever tasted! Chicken was mediocre at best and the pasta
with sausage looked and tasted very "Cheese cake factory".... I will give it one more try!
We ordered the roasted cauliflower entree as an appetizer to share - FANTASTIC! I would recommend the short ribs. It was a bonus to have Alpana Singh stop by our table.
Nothing fancy nothing over the top
But really nothing wrong. Just average
Our waitress was courteous and pleasant.
Our meal was tasty.
We loved everything about this place - great service, delicious food, amazing wine list. Would highly recommend.
