Very nice restaurant. Was looking to relax and take our time. They were not busy and server was overly attentive at the beginning of our visit. After getting our food, the server was nowhere to be found.
Brussel sprouts appetizer was delish, as was the calamari
Great place for after the movie. Food, service and ambiance was good.
Wonderful food and staff was attentive, lots of help. Alpana stopped by a couple times, which was a thrill for our special Birthday celebration!
Waiter was indifferent and abrupt. They seated a family with three children ranging in age from 4-8 next to us ( this is really not a place for small children). Parents were horrific at controlling their children who were screaming playing with and arguing over a video game. Parents were clueless, self-absorbed and unconcerned with issues their offspring were causing. Service was slow - kids became more restless. Host was unconcerned with comfort and experience of patrons who had to put up with this family who choose restaurant poorly. They should have been at a kid friendly place. Nothing was done to get food to the children quickly. Our waiter never asked how our food was, if we needed anything, if we would like more wine etc., I couldn't pay and get out fast enough! I will never go back again. You might think I'm being unfair but the wait and host staff did NOTHING to help calm the situation. Their only comment was that they can't control who chooses to dine at their establishment. That is true but they could have seated them in another part of the restaurant where they may have been less of an irritant to patrons.
Have dined here several times. Very convenient after the movies for sure but also worth the destination.
Very good, seasonal Italian/ Mediterranean cuisines, some plates are quite hearty and one can have a lighter meal here as well. Some items, like the Roasted Cauliflower, is great to even split as a first course. It's all vegetable, so the calories don't count!
Pizzas here are excellent. Almost a Neoploitain style crust that is rather airy and well flavored, good selection of composed pizzas.
The Short Ribs are really tasty here. "Beef Butter" texture over creamy enough mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans. I like more sauce and black pepper, but they are very good. Well chosen wine list (it's Alpana Singh's place after all!) that covers everything from the "reasonable and delicious" to "something really nice" in regards to price-point. Cocktails are around $13, well made with premium ingredients. Their Negroni is top-notch.
Service is affable and enthusiastic, very much "all hands on deck" style of service.
Overall, a memorable meal. Food was very good, but the dinner of one of our party of four was not prepared as requested (sauce was to be "on the side" of the meat and instead of potatoes, a vegetable was to be served). It took at least 20 minutes to receive the corrected plate. Unfortunate, and neither the waiter, server, nor owner/manager apologized for the problem. The other 3 of us were more than halfway through our meal when the re-cooked food was served. At the end of the meal, the waiter "disappeared" when we were ready for the check. Again, another 10-15 minutes of waiting. Though the food is worth the trip, lack of attention to detail and oversight marred the evening. These should be easily correctable issues. Management has to take responsibility for knowing any time an "incorrect meal is served" to find the source of the error and eliminate it. Furthermore, when the table has been cleared and patrons are just sitting at an empty table looking around the restaurant for the waiter, someone else (manager, busboy, another waiter, etc.) should be alert and approach the table to see if anything could be offered. Fix these problems and the restaurant would garner 5 stars.
This is our “special occasion” place. You start with a complimentary bread and herb butter- which is delicious! I recommend the mussels and pita bread appetizer. We’ve ordered the Lobster Linguine each time- sooo good! We’ve always received really good service and had a good experience. Would recommend!
Every bite was delicious & the staff are all so welcoming and friendly we were there on Valentines & they did a super job with the specials and crowd. We will be back for the meatballs & buratta.
THIS WAS SIMPLY THE WORST RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO. FOOD WAS GROSS AND LITERALLY SEEMED LIKE IT CAME FROM A MICROWAVE. I WAS OFFENDED. I HAVE NEVER WRITTEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS BUT THIS WAS SO DISGUSTING THAT I NEED TO VOICE THIS. I AM NEVER GOING BACK.
Food was fantastic from calamari to cauliflower to mushroom panini and pear dessert. Waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive.
Always enjoy coming here! Service is great and the Wine Wednesday deal is great for a group to split a bottle! Cheers!
Service was very poor
Server was argumentative
Wine over priced. $20 for a glass of regular table wine
Steak was over done and burnt around the edges
Good service, good food. Especially ideal if you're attending a movie at Cinemark in Evanston. It's a few steps down the street. Just a little chilly if you're seated near the door.
Great restaurant. The ambiance was perfect and staff was nice. We will definitely go back.
We made a reservation prior to coming to the restaurant and when arriving, we were told that we had a bit of a wait until they could free up the table. When we were seated, we noticed that whenever someone came into the restaurant, a freezing cold breeze would come in. Everyone was sitting with their coats on. After sitting at the table for 10 minutes, we realized that we didn't have water and that a wait staff member hadn't stopped by our table. My wife got up to ask the host for someone to stop by our table, they said that someone would be there in a moment. Another 5 minutes passed and we got fed up and walked out. As we walked out, the host explained that the waiter was just about to come to our table. We've been to terra and vine before and the food is fine, just fine. The ambiance is fine. The restaurant smells like stale movie popcorn due to its location. It's just not worth the wait/effort.
Dinner with friends. Very good food, pretty noisy, but we were still able to talk without yelling. Like the choice of wine pour for glasses of wine - you know what you are getting. Service was good despite the restaurant being pretty full.
Very disappointed. Had reservations for 6:00 and seated when we arrived. The waiter was rude perhsps because we didn't order cocktails. Slow to take our order. Eventually came back to our table and said our order was on its way out. Ten minutes later we had to ask the hostess to check on our good. She brought our waiter over who said I told you it was on its way out. We said we had a movie and he scolded us and said we should have told him. From the time we were seated until we receive our 4 entrees was 1 hour 10 minutes. Of the four entrees only 2 of us liked our dinner. Chopped salad- nothing special and lettuce was shredded like for on top of tacos, mushroom papardelle very salty. I don’t think any of us will be returning. Much better Italian food at other area restaurants. Also wait staff with poor attitude!
We had reservations for 430PM right at opening and had never been there that early. We also normally have Mallory but she was not there that night. We had Gio instead. He too was great! And I don't want to forget our food or water server either. Everyone was outstanding....as always. It was a little chilly that night inside and that if any would be by only complaint.
Cheese and charcuterie appetizer was cold, as if just taken out of the refrigerator. Tagliatelle with mushrooms: noodles were stuck together in a hard, congealed mass. Sauce was basically truffle oil and salt -- almost inedible. Waiter corrected my wife's pronunciation. My son liked his short ribs, my wife liked her salmon. Wine by the glass service: I don't like not seeing the bottle, but that's a minor criticism.
My partner and I have renewed our interest in T & V because their dishes have really been outstanding recently. We shared a house salad and the Cristino for starters. Perfecto and delicious. Then we order the pappardelle and the farfalle. Both dishes were sublime, the pasta al dente! Paired with a wonderful Spanish red blend, it was a great evening!
Although we’ve gone there for dates. Tonight we were celebrating. And we don’t regret going there. The food was excellent. The wine was maybe a bit overpriced. But the food, you get so much of it and it’s so good that we cannot say that it wasn’t worth. Service was quick and helpful. A must go to in Chicago.
I would like to go back to Terra and Vine for dinner, because frankly the lunch menu was unimpressive. The food was executed with some temperature consistency issues, which is why I believe there were two other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. The service was spectacular however.
I ate here over the weekend and I must say it was simply amazing I had the short rib with mashed potatoes my short rib cut like butter and the entire meal was a complete delight definitely would eat her again.
Recommend with reservations, though. The service was friendly and attentive. The food this particular trip was more average- a chicken piccata that had very little flavor, for example. The clams appetizer was huge and very good, however. In the past have really enjoyed the cauliflower special, but last nite's entrees were no match.
Snowy night...went right into restaurant from a movie. Super convenient! Have been here many times..usually more crowded but weather kept people home. Quiet and warm. Service was not as good as usual, food was very good although my pasta was over cooked. Sauce was crazy delish. Wine was, as always, great. Highly recommmend!!!
Every dish we ordered was delicious. Service was good. We enjoyed the whole experience.
We were a bit disappointed with the quality of some of the food. The steak my husband ordered was not cooked correctly. They did immediately correct it to medium rare, but it had no flavor, as if it was frozen and reheated. We did enjoy the brussel sprouts and the mushroom pasta.
Always great food and wine list
It's a pleasant spot for dining on a Friday or Saturday night, especially if you're trying to catch a movie. Everyone was pleasant and the food was good.
We had a nice time, the food was fine but not amazing, and a bit pricy for what we got. My server forgot to bring my drink, but was very nice otherwise. I’m not eating dairy or grains and there were only 2 options for me on the menu. I’d love to see more gluten-free and paleo options offered.
Fettuccine bolognese is outstanding!
Very good food. Loud unpleasant noisy music. Freezing at table whenever the door to the movie theater was opened.
Second time at this restaurant. Service was wonderful, attentive but not attached - I’m especially impressed given that is was NYE and the place was packed. Food was enjoyable, not as great as our first visit - this is the only reason to knock down a star for me. Recommend to all.
One thing happened that was upsetting. We were seated at a table in the main dining room near a window and two of us felt a draft, and we asked the lady at the front desk if we could have another table. It was not Alpana! But she said "no, we're booked and very crowded." It was 5:30 pm and not that crowded. Then, the gentleman who had given us water and menus saw that we were upset, and said don't worry, I'll find you a table. He brought us to the little room with a fireplace, which was empty and wonderful! We were grateful . For the rest of the night, food and service were great.
Very enjoyable. We order the stuffed mushrooms, soooo good. We all had the special of the evening Lobster and mussels over Linguine. It was delicious.
I liked the food, but it was very hard to hear one another. So I would probably not return.
Great location. Cool vibe. Solid service. Good cocktails. Disappointing food.
Fun gathering with family!
