Terra & Vine was very busy on Saturday. We had to wait over 10 minutes after being seated for someone to touch base with us. Gio, our waiter was great, so no complaints there. The food was excellent. I had the short ribs. Others had the trout, chicken and pasta. Everyone was very pleased with their choices. We also had the meatballs, calamari, and shaved brussels sprout salad for appetizers. They were all delicious. We ordered tiramisu for dessert and that was terribly disappointing. I am not sure if it was frozen, but it was dry and crumbly and didn't taste anything like tiramisu. All in all a great evening though.
Excellent dinner with fabulous service. She made excellent food & wine recommendations and reared us so well. Kudos to restaurant & our service team. Special thanks and recognition for our server, Jessica, who really made our girls night out just perfect. Moms were happy. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Overall a very nice experience. My daughter and I were looking for a nice meal while my wife and son went to a show. The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. My singular complaint is that it tends to be a bit loud. The tables are close together and we could easily hear all the conversation around us.
Well, we are two visits and done. First visit was soon after they opened -- nice selection of pizzas with just ok taste. Second time was more disappointing. Cold air blows in from the movie theatre entrance--kept our coats on the entire time just to stay warm. Waiters bickering over who had what tables within our earshot. Pizza selection is down to almost nothing (just two appetizer offerings) and this was a night where we were looking for a nice, wood-burning-oven baked pizza. Gnocchi were inedible (actually mealy in texture -- never tasted anything like that before--waiter kindly brought a different pasta for us), plus a kitchen that does not believe in using salt anywhere. Sorry to give such a bad report, but we were definitely underwhelmed, and that being said, won't return. It's really too back since the location is great (right next to the theatre), restaurant decor is nice, wood burning oven could be producing amazing pizzas, and menu/execution of items could have so much more potential.
Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Finally made a reservation for a girls night and so glad we did. It was FABULOUS! Great atmosphere, service and the food was phenomenal! We got a bunch of small plates and a couple entrees to share and everything was so delicious. I’m now in charge of picking restaurants for our get togethers as my friends raved about this place as well. Lol! Thank you Mallory for the excellent service! Definitely worth checking this place out.
Simply divine. Have been trying to try Terra & Vine for a while, and i finally got a dinner reservation for Valentines Day. The bread and herbed butter to start was awesome. I knew it was going to be a great meal from that point on. We havent tried their specials, which look good as well. Prime skirt steak paired with Toscana rosso was exceptional. My wife had the Mahi Mahi and she was so delighted. The service was great and the rustic, quaint vibe was perfect.
While the overall experience was pretty good, the ambiance with the immediate people around us was a little frustrating.
The table we were seated at was situated between a couch seating & a pull out chair. There were other tables situated near us with maybe about a foot in between each table. This would’ve normally been fine, but we had some neighbors who were extremely talkative...and LOUD. That was probably the most annoying and frustrating thing about the night. In the future it possibly might be great if the tables were situated a little bit further, by a foot & a half, or even 2 feet. This way there’s a little bit more of privacy between tables.
Other than that factor, the rest of the evening was quite pleasant.
Even though we had a very early reservation-5:15- we were not treated well with regard to seating: right in the middle of a row of two tops; even with plenty of open space during the course of the meal, the hostess chose to sit a couple immediately adjacent to us. I notice that occurred elsewhere too, when every table could have been spaced out but instead people were seated elbow to elbow.
In our case our neighbor was wearing heavy perfume and ruined the rest of the meal. A little space could have really helped.
The restaurant was very quiet on a snowy Sunday night which was lovely as usually the place is hopping. Things picked up later. The food, as always was wonderful. The mahi mahi was perfectly cooked as was the pasta with mushrooms and shrimp. We had some very nice wines by the glass. I always enjoy eating here as the service is great as well as the food.
It's right next door to the Evanston movie theatre, and they are clearly big enough and quick enough to cater to pre and post theater groups. However, we expected the food to be more refined given the ownership's pedigree, and instead we got what can best be described as adequate fast-casual pasta dishes that were very pricey for what they were. In addition, while the server asked us if we were heading to a movie, we told her we were not -- the implication being that we were not in a hurry -- yet our pasta dishes came out within 5 minutes of placing our order. This made us feel two things: that our meals were not exactly made-to-order, and that they'd like to turn the tables quickly to accommodate other theater goers.
It was a perfectly pleasant experience, but not worth the money for what we got.
Amish chicken was wonderful. Our waiter,Marcos aka Mr magnifico , was outstanding
Innovative space which could be much better. Excellent wines. Mediocre food.
Wine was poured over a leather coat by server...they gave us 1 piece of cake that was the size of a mini cookie
No remorse nor did they offer to clean coat.
Very attentive service. Menu is not big, but everything is excellent. We've been there at least ten times since it's opened and literally have not had one disappointing experience.
What a place to go to eat after a movie! Walk down the stairs and you're in! Dinner this evening was tops. My wife and I shared a large app of burrata and fried prosciutto, followed by her pork Milanese, and my short rib pasta dish. Both were great! So much we brought some home to our Bichon! Service was great, the wine list was varied, and prices were fair. We walked in for brunch a week ago, and while the brunch wasn't Italian, it was great as well. Excellent!!
Good variety of menu choices. Chicken Cobb salad was great. Service outstanding. Will return soon for dinner.
Wouldn’t come again. Food was pretty good. Hostess seemed pushy when we walked in & couldn’t even take a breathe. Not good start for customers. Wouldn’t recommend. Not a fan & prices too high. Better places for brunch in area. Very blah
Our first visit and we certainly will return. Our server was friendly and helpful; food was prompt, hot, and delicious; drinks were good; dessert excellent.
When the restaurant opened, it was terrific! Portions have gotten smaller, seems like there is less to choose from . My dish was dry to the point of being barely edible.
The location is ideal due to its proximity to the Century/CineArts theater. The food was good and the service was great.
