Teppan-Yaki Dan - Sheraton Maui
Best to go with a group- we sat with just 2 others and we had minimal interaction so it was boring
Our chef could sense the low energy and disconnect so he basically cooked and could not wait to be done with us. Food was pretty good and portions were decent. We ordered an appetizer but they forgot it which was fine. Overall it was just ok. Other tables seemed to enjoy there time more
Our chef was Braddah Pit and he was great! I am gluten free and he went out of his way to accommodate my request. He cooked my food first to ensure there was no cross contamination and was knowledgeable about what had gluten and what didn’t. My filet was cooked to perfection and this was the best meal I’ve had on this island during my time here. I will be back for sure! Very happy customer here!
It’s a fun place to go for the experience the food is a little salty for my liking but the chef was great
My first time and my last! First of all our directions took us somewhere 10 minutes away. When we got to the restaurant our waiter was very unfriendly and rushed us into ordering 5 minutes into sitting down. My mom asked the waiter for ice tea and he told us they didn’t have any. This restaurant is at a hotel and you’re telling me you don’t have ice tea. Then he made a huge deal about going to room service to get my mom Perrier. Horrible service and the food was just okay. The food had WAY too much butter and salt it could give someone cardiac arrest! Also, the restaurant is extremely tiny. When you over $100 for a meal I expect a better experience. PS. Their wine selection is horrible. My mom ordered a merlot wine that she didn’t even drink it.
Dan knows how to cook a great meal. His interaction with us was fun and welcoming.
We enjoyed our time beginning to end. Finally the main course options we superb. We recommend the full course premium with appetiser to dessert
This is a fun one time experience. It’s lively and loud and the food was great. Not a casual relaxing evening but a fun night out with other guests.
Just a fabulous show and great dinner
Food was very good. But the exhaust fan was not pulling up the smoke. Was going right in my wife’s face she had to move.
Amazing experience and real quality food, unfortunately it felt a little rushed by waiters. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to try Japanese style cuisine.
Food is always great! Randall, our chef was outstanding! We had a wonderful time and celebration for our daughter!
In full disclosure I LOVE Teppanyaki food. Teppan Dan is one of my top 3 places for tappan food, and my #1 in Maui. The chef's are fun, talkative, engaging, and truly care about their presentation. My only negative is the price of the food, but it's Hawaii, so it is what it is.
Terrible service. Waited an hour for a drink and to order our dinner. Not recommended.
Great food and service. Our chef was fantastic.
We had a wonderful time! The chef was extremely entertaining. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were seated at our reservation time and everything went smoothly. A very pleasant experience at a reasonable cost.
Delicious dinner! Very entertaining and we met some other great people vacationing in Maui. Great experience... a must do while on the island.
You get lots of food. Flavour was better than average but not spectacular. Some too salty eg soup.
Filet & Lobster so yummy!
What fun! We had dinner here twice in one week. We had two different chefs, both marvelously entertaining in their own ways. Food was delicious, with generous portions expertly prepared. The ribeye was a real standout, and the macadamia scallops also delicious. Sake-based margaritas and martinis were smooth and delicious. Overall a great dining choice.
Everything was way too salty and no one ate at the table.
Amazing food! The service was perfect! And the atmosphere was great! We had a 3 month baby with our group plus two kids under 10! It was so great for all ages
Family dinner in vacation
waiter was pretty useless but the chef was fantastic and very entertaining
Very expensive for mediocre food and service.
Unorganized very slow service
We arrived early and were required to sit outside the restaurant for 20 minutes
The restaurant didn't even know they were on Open Table! Seriously no reservation!! They accommodated us, but wow.....don't use Open Table for this place!!
Without the manager stepping up and honoring our confirmed open table reservation our rating would be less. We arrived at restaurant 15 minutes early for our reservation. There was no record of our reservation despite me proving this via the opentable app. The manager was summoned from within and he stepped up and found us a table in 45 minutes. The manager did ask " how did I get this app to work?" He told us that their restaurant does not use open table. For a few moments we went round and round about who said, she said.... finally we were sat and had mediocre food expertly prepared. No need to return. So so so many other choices on island for fantastic food.
Gold star to open table.
Didn't start well. Lost our OpenTable reservation and couldn't seat us for another 30 minutes. Manager took care of us though.
Dinner had mixed reviews. We have an excellent Teppanyaki restaurant in our area. Compared to it, there was less food (no salad course, no noodles) and some of the food (fried rice and vegetables) were not as good as what we are used to.
The filets, on the other hand, were very good.
We also paid twice what we normally pay for this same meal at home. But, that's Hawaii.
Had a 6/15 reservation for our last night in Maui. Showed up and was told that the restaurant had no way to access the Open Table app so they had no record of our reservation. Was offered an 8 pm seating instead. Perhaps more a reflection of poor coordination between Open Table and Teppanyaki-Yaki Dan. We go to Maui every year with a group of 10-12 people. We will not return to this restaurant in the future.
