Great restaurant - it’s like the Austrohungarian empire never died!
Ambiance was relaxed and comforting and food was pretty good until we received a dish that was extremely salty to the point where it was inedible. When asked to replace the dish we got dirty looks and condescending comments from our server. Ruined the overall experience at the restaurant. It's too bad because the pirogies were pretty good, but will not be returning.
As someone with polish heritage it is great to see delicious traditional food in hip and funky environment. I will be back there for sure.
Tennessee Tavern has a great vibe and decor. My wife and I enioyed our date night there and will be back for the food (awesome) and the service. Get the cevapi!
Great fun place. Good food, nothing sophisticated but very tasty! Will be back.
We had an awesome time. Just a little too much salt in the food. Otherwise, food, service and ambiance was top notch
Great drink selection. The food menu had lots of good options for sharing. We got pierogis, assorted pickle platter and basket of sausages which were all delish. The spaetzle and schnitzel were a little heavy on the salt in my opinion, but would go back. We’re cool atmosphere!
As an Eastern European who eats this cuisine regularly, I can honestly say the food is exceptional. There’s a great ambiance for a date or group and the service is attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be returning!
Late reso very busy time still got great service and food was very good. Unfortunately - too loud. Felt like I had to yell all night. Despite everything going for it; I would think twice before coming back to have an evening out with friends. I couldn't really enjoy them and that's the whole point of going out. Sound panels would not go amiss in this otherwise lovely space.
I LOVE THIS FREAKIN RESTAURANT AUGH this was my first time there for brunch, we usually come for beer and pickles. daytime atmosphere did not disappoint and the cevapi and eggs were excellent. the staff are always friendly and professional.
Delicious, different, odd and amazing all rolled up in one.
Vibe is amazing. Food was spectacular and service was great! Highly recommended
Great food, great vibe to the place.
No notes on this visit.
One guest thought the bathroom was “scary”.
Food was good but service was absolutely terrible.
We’ve been there a few times before and the quality of food isn’t as great this time around. The service was also below par. We weren’t served water until the end of our meal after asking for it a couple times. Then when we did receive it there was a sweet offputting taste to it. There was no seasoning in the ajvar and tasted very bland compared to what you would get in the balkans. Sadly don’t think I will ever go back.
Vegan pretzels, which are a rarity. Blood sausages that are to die for.
Visited for the first time for Sunday brunch after repeated recommendations by our adult children (committed downtowners). Drove down from North York. Parking was easy at nearby Green P. Front window table would have sat 10 but was plenty big for our intimate group of six. Greeted warmly upon arrival and service was friendly and attentive. Ate well including appetizers and a pitcher of mimosas and bottomless coffee. Live music for a portion of our visit and in-house tunes as well. Glad we were seated up front or might have been too noisy for conversation on the main floor. Perfect for a relaxing, laid-back weekend gathering. Left satisfied (killer pierogies!) and will visit again.
Food was fine overpriced after all it’s perogi and cabbage rolls etc. Atmosphere is nice.
Bathrooms smell horrible .., though should do something about that
Great food and even more wonderful service!
Really good polish / german style cooking. Interesting east European wine list.
Just had a wonderful meal. Service was top notch. Rare that I'm thinking of coming back before I've left. For three people we ordered schnitzel, mushrooms, spaetzle and a basket of mixed sausage. It was the perfect amount for us. My partner ordered the Tenny Punch wish I skipped my beer and ordered one as well . Will be back :)
Was a large brunch menu with lots of yummy options. Thought the prices of some of the drinks were a little steep for where we were (mimosa was $11) but in all food was really good. Do not go with a light appetite as the portions were huge. Try the pretzel with the beef strog
I really appreciated some of the authentic details of the food, straight down to the Tabasco sauce and the Paprika in a salt shaker. It reminded me of the food I grew up with and the atmosphere balanced between being dark and nostalgic, and well deliberated.
Casual European style pub. I would say it's more Central European than British like the tag says. I came here for some pierogies with a friend. I like that they come in 3 sizes. We both got 6 and then split the cucumber salad. The cucumber salad didn't live up to expectations as it did not have much flavour. They charged extra for a tablespoon of hot sauce. However, the pierogies were fantastic! I'd come back just for these. They also have lots of other things I want to try: cabbage rolls, schnitzel etc.
Went with friends for brunch. Everyone was super impressed with our brunch orders. We had The Parkdale Easy,Veal Schnitzel and the McSchnitty-all were excellent!
Amazing ambience.Great service.Really good live music.
Will be back
Amazing atmosphere! Our waitress had some amazing suggestions! We will defiantly be back 😊
Kevin is the best, he’s the nicest server. He has okay taste in music.
We had a delicious brunch here, but they ran out of the dish I actually went there for. The food we had was great and the servers were attentive and friendly. The Saturday live music was a surprise and at first I was afraid our kids would hate it, but it turned out to be great.
fabulous and varied food choices. although our server did not seem happy with us when we did not order alcohol, the service was still good and friendly. the cost of one piece of cheese with no accompaniments was a little disappointing. the beet toast was a great idea, but the diced beets kept falling off the bread. the french toast was the best i've ever had.
Great food and service- our server helped us navigate portions and selection that was very helpful.
My family and I went there to celebrate my wife's Bday after spending the day in the neighborhood. We didn't know the restaurant ahead of time and were not familiar with the area, so we took a chance on Tennessee based on the reviews and website photos. We were thrilled with the entire experience. Great feel, food and very lively. The staff was terrific and very friendly.
Went there will 3 others on a Saturday, 6pm for drinks and dinner. Cool casual vibe. Friendly staff. Found the music a bit loud for dinner but they kindly turned it down a notch. Really interesting menu with lots of variety. I’d call it ‘funky eastern European’. Very conducive to sharing. Great selection of craft beers too. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us order a variety of shareable items.
Certainly worth a visit. We enjoyed it!
Excellent Polish/European food. Do yourself a favour and order the Salmon/caviar as an appetizer. I will definitely return here and with a city as full as Toronto with great food the ultimate compliment is to come back and spend more money at a place you like. I usually shy away from "hot new restaurant" lists but this is one of the rare occasions where the food lived up to the hype.
We used to love this place but today was incredibly disappointing. It took 1.5 hours to finally eat. We sat down at 1:00pm and didn’t get fed till 2:30pm. The server was ambivalent and really didn’t care that we had 3 kids at our table.
Next time why not offer some pretzels or anything to say the least. We literally ran across the street and bought food to tide us over.
And we weren’t comp’d on any of our tab.
You know you are busy on the weekends and need to plan appropriately.
Because guess what if you take care of the kids the parents tend to spend a lot more money on drinks. Instead we were too busy trying to keep them occupied
It’s a cool divey kind of vibe with good service. The food is Eastern European so it’s pretty heavy. Not great for vegans or vegetarians
Not a restaurant for food enjoyment. Food mediocre. The veal schnitzel was overcooked. Our server kindly replaced the first schnitzel which was stiff and difficult to cut. The second was at least warmer but not much better. We must comment that our server was very pleasant, explained the menu, she was patient and immediately replaced the schnitzel with no argument. We are sorry we did not get her name to give her a shout out. In sharp contrast was the first server who seated us and he must have been full of self importance as he haughtily answered initial menu questions - his body language saying I am in a rush don't bother me but watching the restaurant flow there was no need to rush.
The place should warn you in advance that on Sunday aft they have inescapable LIVE MUSIC. the music was OK, but there was no escaping it. the place is too small for that. I would have cancelled had I known. Who needs live music on a Sunday aft?
Great variety and original recipe. Friendly staff. Tasty and plenty
