Great food, great service, and great atmosphere
Seated immediately at comfortable booth in this rather small and charming restaurant. We discovered this restaurant because we are staying at the Holston House this week. We dined here 3 days for breakfast and decided to dine here for dinner because of the convenient proximity. Wait staff is friendly and will spend time chatting with a customer. This is not a crowded restaurant. The food is delicious. Definitely a hidden gem in the community.
Dined at TENN for Valentine's Day. Cozy restaurant, nice ambiance. For this occasion, the restaurant was serving a fixed menu. A good number of options, and for the most part, the food was very good. I will say I thought the Red Velvet crepe cake was almost sickeningly sweet and was impossible to cut with a fork. My friend ordered the other dessert option and it was wonderful. Service was incredibly slow. The staff seemed terribly disorganized, which was amplified by the restaurant being full for Valentine's night. The staff was very nice, but we really had to flag them down when we needed anything.Oh, and we were never offered anything to drink. We finally asked for a wine menu during the main course, and it took another 10+ minutes to get 2 glasses of wine. They just seemed understaffed. I'd go back, but probably on a weeknight when there may be fewer customers.
We went to TENN for Valentine’s Day dinner. They had a special menu where you were able to choose your starter, main course, and dessert. Champagne and an oyster were also served as part of the special menu. We chose a salmon dish and sweet potato tamale for our starters. Both were just ok. For the main course, my husband ordered the NY Strip. It was served with a fried potato side so all of the food on the plate was brown. A colorful garnish would have added a lot to this dish. The steak was ok but wasn’t seasoned or special in any way. I had the scallops which were fantastic. The 3 scallops were served with some delicious roasted squash and carrots. For dessert we had the peanut butter tart and ice cream which was very good.
Other downsides: we asked for a cocktail menu/wine list 3 times and never received one, our server described one of the starters as “gross and slimy,” a different server came and told us we ate fast (which we didn’t) when she picked up our entree dishes, we were asked to keep our fork between courses, weren’t served a spoon with dessert, and had to ask for starter dishes to be removed when the next course came.
Overall, we decided we were glad we tried this restaurant, but we won’t need to go back. For the price ($188 before gratuity) we could have had a better experience elsewhere.
Dining out on Valentine’s Day night is for amateurs. As a pre-concert dinner that night it seemed like a good plan. I don’t think TENN was prepared as well as a more experienced, established restaurant would be. That said, my partner’s dining experience was very enjoyable mine less so because the food was a little under cooked and on the cool side even for a prefix dinner. Cocktails, wine and Service were all great. I like the ambience of the hotel. I would give it another try to eat from the regular menu.
Great food and service! We had the short rib sweet potato hash and the breakfast taco — both unique and delicious!
Four of us enjoyed conversation over delicious, interesting cocktails and tasty small plates. The glazed Brussels sprouts were outstanding. The dining room is attractive and service was good.
TENN deserves 10 stars! I went with a group of 10 people to celebrate my friend's birthday and it was amazing! The food was delicious, service was excellent and the atmosphere was perfect for our large party celebration. Plus, our waiter was absolutely hilarious! All of us can't wait to go back!
Food was good but one of the meals was luke warm and another was cold. The waiter was very nice and informative but not very attentative, too busy chattting with coworkers. There was only 4 of us and the meals did not come out at the same time. Also did not remove empty drink glasses. Had to remind him we were going to an event and limited on time, wound up a bit late to the puck drop.
Service was friendly, fast and helpful. Quite empty for a Friday night. Starters were nice but Unfortunately our steaks came in overcooked and rather cold, and lacked any type of malliard reaction on the surface. The fries were cold as well. Sent one of them back and it came back a bit better. It was taken of the bill which was a nice touch. Room for improvement but nice ambiance over all. Good local beers.
Website very deceiving, thought it was a rooftop restaurant, when I made reservations for New year's Eve website made it seem like I took the last two seats at the bar, restaurant was empty when I arrived.
Hi Kevin, We apologize for any confusion. We do have a rooftop bar, TENN on Top, which is closed for the season. We apologize for the availability in Open Table as well. We hope you'll give us another chance in the future.
Food was amazing, staff was friendly and welcoming our server was Breck she was so sweet. The omelet was filled with delicious spinach and goat cheese, potatoes were delicious. My husband avocado toast he said it was the best he has had! The bacon is local and so thick and flavorful. Definitely a hidden gem. The only reason I would not give a 5 star is the coffee is not that great it definitely does not match the quality of food.
Dinner before a concert.
Excellent service. Food was great!
Josh was fantastic and very accommodating. As always great food and service.
Thanksgiving Dinner was delicious and the best thanksgiving meal that we have eaten out. Everyone at the restaurant was friendly and welcoming. Drinks were great. I will go back.
Outstanding food! Had five small plates; pork ribs, mushroom toast, lamb meatballs, crispy sprouts and Waldorf salad - all tasted terrific and presentation was superb.
We are foodies and TENN surpassed our expectations
Wife's food arrived 10 minutes before mine. Biscuit was dry, coffee stale, and server ignored us several times which was quite impressive since we were sitting at the bar. Adam, our server, had an amazing ability to avert his eyes and stare blankly into the sky as he walked past.
Limited menu made smaller by being out of items early on a Friday night. Staff raved about "world-renowned" lamb meatballs then served dish cold with raw meat in center. All dishes were dry and appeared to be missing ingredients. Drinks were good.
Great staff, amazing food and service. We had a party of five and we’re able to get right in. Everyone in our group got either the Salmon or Scallops entree and each was cooked to perfection. Kudos to the service here, we were well taken care of. Unlike many of the places we looked at , we were able to get a good meal, quickly and able to enjoy conversation without loud music drowning us out.
The food was delicious! But the setup was a little strange - no host/hostess so the servers told us to seat ourselves - so we took a table in the center of the restaurant, which then messed up other reservations of larger parties coming in later than us. Although the restaurant was pretty sleepy on a Saturday night, it was quiet enough that we could have a good conversation with our friends. It was also close enough to Broadway that we could get back there quickly after a dinner break. The person who appeared to be the manager was really visible and helpful and the food was sincerely very good. Had it been a bit busier I don’t know that we would have noticed some of the small inconsistencies and service issues. I’d come back!
We were going to a concert. Our waiter was amazing. His manager was an idiot, but he was great! Will be back
Great food, very nice, relaxed dining room. Liz was wonderful and knowledgeable, and made the evening great. Dining room was quiet and modern. The Brussels sprouts were great. Thanks, Liz!
What a delightful surprise! Conveniently located in the historic Houston House, this restaurant is not to be missed. The food was exquisite and the service impeccable. Also a great value. You are missing out if you don’t try EVERY small plate on the menu!!! Servers Mateo and Ricky are the best!
Absolutely awesome. The scallops were amazing with risotto. The whipped ricotta appetizer was also amazing, along with everything else!!!
Awesome food, great burgers, great everything!
Service was as amazing!! Such kind and personable staff! Food was delicious!! Highly recommend the egg and bacon croissant and Belgium waffle for breakfast!!! And the coffee was yum!!
I enjoyed eating breakfast there every morning. the oatmeal was delicious.
I loved this restaurant breakfast and dinner were delicious and I loved loved the oatmeal with berries. the best oatmeal I ever tasted!!!
just a little annoyed that housekeeping never returned my phone from Labor day weekend. I called several times. I think I left one of my black slip on Nike sneakers in the room and I would have thought housekeeping would have called me. if someone can relay the message I would appreciate it.
Great little spot off the beaten track for lunch. My party of 3 tried three different dishes and each of them were good in their own rite. The only snafu was I thought I had ordered chicken with my caesar salad - it arrived with none, but we had limited time so I didn't say anything. Short rib grilled cheese was delicious, the Cuban was also! Fries were also very good. Will be back!
Great place, with good food. Drinks are great, small and quaint ambiance, and the girl that took care of us was really great!
Walked in through main door to an empty restaurant with no one there to greet us. Bartender told us they did not have a reservation for us. Service was very slow and menu very limited.
Door was open but completely dark in the restaurant. Had to search to find upstairs bar was where we should have gone to. No one talked to us so we just left.
The food and service were both exceptional!
The dining room is closed during the week for dinner, which is served in the bar...full menu. Great service. Best burger I've had in a LONG time! Manhattan was spot on. Check this sweet little place out.
We were the only table in the restaurant, food came out at different times, drink orders were incorrect. No adjustments made to the bill.
I saw the reviews in advance of our reservation and was really looking forward to eating here, until we got here last night and was told the restaurant is not even open- and apparently never is, except on fridays? So instead they seat you in the bar which is an average hotel lobby bar, but with dirty sticky floors and bartenders who didn’t seem to care if you were there or not. The restaurant looks really nice, its just a shame you cant eat there.
Super slow service took a half hour to get drinks and they charged our credit cards wrong
We needed a place that could accomodate 9 people before a concert at the Ryman on the same day. TENN was the only place that could accommodate us. Reviews looked OK so took a chance. TENN was great. The food was excellent and the service great. I lucked out in this choice and my group was extremely happy.
Wasn't busy, but felt like the bartenders were preoccupied. Place is okay
