Awesome food & excellent service. The TP meatloaf was sooo good.
Food was fine. But we were rushed out the door because an employee said they had a reservation for our table. WTF? Not very welcoming
Can’t believe I waited so long to visit Ten Penny! Great place to eat and hang out! Your charred brussel sprouts are amazing!
The waitress Nicki was very helpful. She made a great suggestion with the Cornbread. I will definitely come back when I am in town.
Nicki was helpful with the menu and was very attentive. The corn bread, sirloin and salad were all very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely recommend this place.
I would recommend visiting Ten Penny for a drink or two. The ambiance was a cross between, rustic, industrial and farmhouse, which worked perfectly together. However, I wouldn't make dinner reservations at Ten Penny again. The food wasn't bad but it was nothing to write home about. I expected to be impressed with the food given the prices but all appetizers and dishes were just okay throughout our group of 5 adults.
Server, Nicki, was incredible! Brussel sprout app was the best! Had a variety of dishes and everything was really good.
The food and service were really good.
Due to the convention across the street, there were many people in the area, so it was moderately busy. However, even if it’s packed, you should expect to get your drinks delivered sooner than the 30 minutes it took our group of four. Our waitress was atrocious as we saw other tables seated and served long before us. (By other wait staff)
Food was also a problem. 1) Appetizer of calamari delivered 1/2 way through main course, Which, 2) was delivered 1/4 of the way through our main course. I say 1/4, because only one of four of us received their meal. Another 10 minute wait, and by that time we didn’t even want/enjoy it.
I hate to say this, as I rarely take the time to review, but this was the worst waitress I can ever remember. I tipped about 12%. She is going to need the money soon.
The food was very delicious. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the Pittsburgh Biscuit. It was very quiet for a Sunday brunch, almost no one there.
Steaks were OUTSTANDING> Nice atmosphere. Was Sat. night and s it was busy, but service response time could have been better.
I had a table of 8 with a reservation. The restaurant was either under staffed for a Saturday or we had a disinterested server.
Our server seemed very nervous, perhaps new? Ordered a wine and beer to start. Server didn't think that wine was available, as they had run out previously. Fortunately, manager had gone out that day to replenish. Unfortunately, ordered draft beer was not available. Went with second choice.
Main course arrived before appetizers. They were sent back and appetizers were brought.
Meatloaf dinner was raw inside. It was sent back and removed from bill by server, who said he was sorry but seemed more concerned to let kitchen know than apologizing. No replacement ordered.
I really thought that someone else from restaurant who come to table to express their regrets, but that didn't happen.
Not quite up to par. Our low level table that we requested from the site wasn't available and we were told we would have to wait until after 8:30, so that was strike 1. The noise level was very loud an inappropriate from the table diagonal from us as the one patron kept saying the "F" word every 3 minutes. We ordered salads. Well, someone other than our waiter dropped off ONE salad, proceeded to put it in the middle of the table as if to suggest that we were to SHARE that ONE salad, without the dressing. Befuddled by this, we were unsure as to what to do. Once our waiter came by we mentioned it to him and he said that he would take care of that. I mean SERIOUSLY, WHO ORDERS ONE SALAD TO SPLIT? Not to mention one without ANY dressing. The waitstaff in our opinion seemed to be distracted, possibly from the crowd of people that come down to gawk and take "sinkhole selfies" on the blocked off areas. Don't get me wrong, the food was excellent and delicious as usual, it just seemed that refills on water and our other beverages seemed to take quite some time. Also, my partner decided to try one of the fall festival beverages and asked a few times for water to sip along with the beverage and it was never delivered until well after the drink was finished. We had leftovers that we wanted to take home and it took 3 requests for a bag and to go dish before we could leave. We will give them at least one more time before we decide to never return and try out a new place for our Broadway shows. This was also a special night as we were celebrating our 23rd anniversary to the date. I sure hope things are better for our next night out. Like I said, the food was exquisite and to die for, just the service seemed lack and it seemed that it's due to the sinkhole that yinz obviously have no control over. Here's hoping to having better service on our next date night.
The food and service was fabulous.
We wanted to try the restaurant for dinner after a show at the Benedum and it was very good! A nice varied selection on the menu and food was delicious.
Always a great meal, wonderful service. Would recommend.
Ten Penny was wonderful! From 4-6 was happy hour with half off appetizers which we greatly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend!
We have been to Ten Penny several times, but this visit was disappointing. The food was not as good as we remembered. My husband ordered a Ten Penny Salad, but it lacked many of the ingredients described on the menu. My choice was the Chicken Piccata, and the chicken was overcooked. The waitress struggled was the bill which required assistance from the manager. The explanation from the manager was the waitress was new and overwhelmed. However their was a limited number of patrons and several wait staff. Sorry Ten Penny your establishment will not be on my list when we come to the Cultural District.
Wish I could give a better review, however, the restaurant was closed and their voicemail didn't indicate they were closed. Their website still allowed me to make a reservation and walk there only to find out they were closed. Not their fault due to the sinkhole, but, as an out of town customer away on business, it would be helpful to update your voicemail and website to indicate being closed.
Our entire party love the ambience of the place very much. Everyone said the place had a very cool vibe. Everyone seem to enjoy their food, although I was expecting my Cajun shrimp Alfredo to be a little bit spicier. The big downfall was the service. Our waitress admitted it was her fifth day there, so we were trying to give her as much leeway as possible. The young lady who actually brought out the food was incredibly rude and offputting. So much so that all four of us at our table made comments about how rude she was.
Really, really Long wait for only two soups and salads. No one there when we arrived, largely empty at Noon.
Got dressing on one salad... dead wrong and pre-dressed.
Have told others in my convention group to STAY AWAY!!!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Will be going again next time in Pitt.
Service was a little slow but pleasant. The food was a little on the sweet side (cornbread and meatloaf). I got the sure on the side and still found the cornbread sweet. But the quality was solid and the ambiance was nice. I probably wouldn't return but still not a bad choice for casual, reasonably priced food and drink.
Awesome place to eat! Our Server was probably the best server I’ve ever had at any restaurant in Pittsburgh! He was very friendly, funny, and accommodating! Can’t wait to go back!
First visit. By previous devious, expected lousy service & fairly decent food. Experienced the opposite. Ryan, our server, was polite and responsive. (Yes, the hostess still acts like she is doing you a favor to seat you.) Food overpriced and mediocre at best. We both ordered different chicken pasta dishes to be safe. Chicken overcooked but edible. Same pasta, like a rotini, used for each dish-odd. Sauces meh. Overall, a disappointment.
Smiling and warm welcome...quick to table, and delicious food!
Great food. Even better service.
Our waitress wasn't very good. It took over 30 minutes to get our drinks (for 7 people), and in the meantime our order wasn't taken. We were the only people in the restaurant for the first 15-20 minutes of being there. One of our diners received uncooked chicken. It appears that the same chicken she'd already cut into was taken and recooked (not sure if that is common, but it was weird).
There was no record of our reservation, despite having one confirmed through open table. Host accommodated anyway, but only with a dark, wobbly table in the corner by the entrance. Food was decent enough, but this ruined the experience and mood. Glass bottle of water was unfiltered and tasted horribly. It was room temperature. Wont go back.
Really fun place. Our server Nicole was awesome. Great food. We will be back.
Loved it! Plan on returning.
It was an enjoyable evening for our first visit to Pittsburgh. Michael was an attentive waiter, courteous and professional and willing to chat in spite of the hectic pace the servers were involved in during the dinner hour.
I thought the food was mediocre at best for the price. Portion size a little on the smaller size with no bread. I had a Groupon so the value was a little better than if I had paid full price. Server was blah with no personality.
I sent my High school group there on a date night before homecoming—had a reservation made days in advance communicating as such—and while everything was relatively fine—they got stuck at a high top cocktail table near the front door which I think was totally inappropriate considering how they were dressed (to the nines!!), and that it wasn’t a busy night. Sunday at 5:15!!!!!
If I knew i had to add details like “give them an actual table” I would have. I feel that by putting them there (near the bar no less) it was a sign that they were unimportant guests. Very disappointed to say the least.
Nicole was great for service before the game!
We were there for Breakfast - food was slow to come out of the kitchen but server was attentive.
Great brunch spot if you’re downtown on the weekend!
Having read some negative reviews about service we were pleasantly surprised to have immediate attention that continued throughout our evening. We wanted a place close to our hotel with good food for a variety of appetites. They were out of some of the fall drink specials (particularly flavored vodka) but everything else was on point. We enjoyed the pieroghi flatbread, salmon, & TP meatball.
Decent place. It was extremely busy for lunch. Thank goodness I made reservations. Food was OK, wonderful waitress, long wait for food.
