Our server Nicki was simply the best! She made our party of 8 feel comfortable and made sure we had what we needed to make our dinner an enjoyable experience. She knew details about everything on the menu and was able to make recommendations based on what we liked. Everything that was brought to our table was amazing! I recommend Ten Penny and Nicki for any special occasion with a larger group as well as great dining experience in Pittsburgh with just a few friends.
Our waitress was MJ! She was very friendly and checked in on us consistently. She helped us end our anniversary celebration on sweet note :)
The food was delicious and the crab dip was absolutely spectacular. Drinks were well priced and delicious as well. The ambiance is really relaxing a great for a date night- we went during off hours so not on a busy Fri/Saturday evening.
Ten Penny is the absolute best restaurant on the planet! Everyone that has went there with me loves it! We all get different entrees and they are delicious! They have the best happy hour ever, no restaurant can even compare! Delicious drinks and half-off appetizers (that are incredibly delicious and filling). I just love it!
Our waitress Nikki was excellent and very attentive! Food was delicious. One of the best meatballs I've ever eaten.
Very good food in a loud, but intimate setting. Very impressed by the speed we received our meals. It seemed like a very busy evening, but we saw no dip in service, quality or speed. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good meal.
The orders that were correct were very good. Unfortunately, most of them were incorrect or seemed forgotten about until we specifically asked where they were. The waitress seemed overwhelmed, and half of our group had to get up from the table to get drinks from the bar, even though drinks were ordered from the waitress. Items we never ordered were added to the bill, but the waitress did take the items off when this was brought to her attention.
Great pre dinner snacks and drinks
Great dinner and atmosphere. Nicki was awesome and we had a great evening!
Nicky gave us great service. Good location for dinner before the theater. Very good food and a lot of it. Excellent value.
Food was amazing! Nicki was such an amazing and attentive server. Wayne was also great, he delivered our food and even though he wasn’t our sever, he got us ketchup and salt! 😁 Will totally eat here again!
The Penny Wise Fries were amazing! Food was great. Nicki was a great server!
This was my first time here and it definitely won't be my last. We had a reservation and got seated at a nice cozy table. The server made sure our drinks were always full and our food came out at a reasonable time. The Pennywise fries were so good! The cheese sauce and candied bacon were a great touch to the fries. My husband got the Shrimp Alfredo and I got the Pierogies. Both dishes were outstanding and would definitely recommend.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, great service and delicious meals with large portions!
Thank you. We appreciate the positive feedback!
The service was great and the food was out of this world!! I will be back!
TG, Thank you! We are looking forward to your next visit!
This was our first time at Ten Penny and we were quite impressed. We arrived on time and were promptly escorted to our table by Deena, who checked from time to time to be certain everything was to our liking. Our server, Nicki, is clearly an experienced server and was outstanding. Her description of the wines and foods we found to be helpful and accurate. She checked on us at appropriate times and was cheerful throughout. In short, we were in and out on a time line we had planned, had delicious food and drink, and cheerful attentive service. It is on our list to return in the near future.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Geena and Nicki will be happy to hear they played a part in your delightful experience. Looking forward to seeing you again!
We have been to Ten Penny several times, always a good experience. This visit was no exception - ambience was good, food was great and our server, MJ was exceptional.
Beth, Thank you for being a loyal customer, and for the positive feedback! MJ will be happy to hear your kind words! Hope to see you again soon!
Really enjoyed dinner at Ten Penny on Friday. We were sitting among the Happy Hour crowd so it was a little loud, but that was to be expected. Dinner was excellent though - we ate WAY too much but it was too good! Wayne, our server, was delightful - friendly and helpful! Thanks for a great girls’ night out!
Lindsay, Thank you for the positive feedback. We are happy to hear Wayne provided such great service throughout your GNO!
Awesome food & excellent service. The TP meatloaf was sooo good.
Food was fine. But we were rushed out the door because an employee said they had a reservation for our table. WTF? Not very welcoming
Can’t believe I waited so long to visit Ten Penny! Great place to eat and hang out! Your charred brussel sprouts are amazing!
The waitress Nicki was very helpful. She made a great suggestion with the Cornbread. I will definitely come back when I am in town.
Nicki was helpful with the menu and was very attentive. The corn bread, sirloin and salad were all very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely recommend this place.
Our server was great, especially since we had a bigger group (6 people). I think her name was Nikki. Thank you so much.
You're Welcome! And thank you for the feedback! Happy to hear you had such a great experience!
I would recommend visiting Ten Penny for a drink or two. The ambiance was a cross between, rustic, industrial and farmhouse, which worked perfectly together. However, I wouldn't make dinner reservations at Ten Penny again. The food wasn't bad but it was nothing to write home about. I expected to be impressed with the food given the prices but all appetizers and dishes were just okay throughout our group of 5 adults.
Server, Nicki, was incredible! Brussel sprout app was the best! Had a variety of dishes and everything was really good.
The food and service were really good.
Due to the convention across the street, there were many people in the area, so it was moderately busy. However, even if it’s packed, you should expect to get your drinks delivered sooner than the 30 minutes it took our group of four. Our waitress was atrocious as we saw other tables seated and served long before us. (By other wait staff)
Food was also a problem. 1) Appetizer of calamari delivered 1/2 way through main course, Which, 2) was delivered 1/4 of the way through our main course. I say 1/4, because only one of four of us received their meal. Another 10 minute wait, and by that time we didn’t even want/enjoy it.
I hate to say this, as I rarely take the time to review, but this was the worst waitress I can ever remember. I tipped about 12%. She is going to need the money soon.
The food was very delicious. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the Pittsburgh Biscuit. It was very quiet for a Sunday brunch, almost no one there.
Steaks were OUTSTANDING> Nice atmosphere. Was Sat. night and s it was busy, but service response time could have been better.
I had a table of 8 with a reservation. The restaurant was either under staffed for a Saturday or we had a disinterested server.
Our server seemed very nervous, perhaps new? Ordered a wine and beer to start. Server didn't think that wine was available, as they had run out previously. Fortunately, manager had gone out that day to replenish. Unfortunately, ordered draft beer was not available. Went with second choice.
Main course arrived before appetizers. They were sent back and appetizers were brought.
Meatloaf dinner was raw inside. It was sent back and removed from bill by server, who said he was sorry but seemed more concerned to let kitchen know than apologizing. No replacement ordered.
I really thought that someone else from restaurant who come to table to express their regrets, but that didn't happen.
Not quite up to par. Our low level table that we requested from the site wasn't available and we were told we would have to wait until after 8:30, so that was strike 1. The noise level was very loud an inappropriate from the table diagonal from us as the one patron kept saying the "F" word every 3 minutes. We ordered salads. Well, someone other than our waiter dropped off ONE salad, proceeded to put it in the middle of the table as if to suggest that we were to SHARE that ONE salad, without the dressing. Befuddled by this, we were unsure as to what to do. Once our waiter came by we mentioned it to him and he said that he would take care of that. I mean SERIOUSLY, WHO ORDERS ONE SALAD TO SPLIT? Not to mention one without ANY dressing. The waitstaff in our opinion seemed to be distracted, possibly from the crowd of people that come down to gawk and take "sinkhole selfies" on the blocked off areas. Don't get me wrong, the food was excellent and delicious as usual, it just seemed that refills on water and our other beverages seemed to take quite some time. Also, my partner decided to try one of the fall festival beverages and asked a few times for water to sip along with the beverage and it was never delivered until well after the drink was finished. We had leftovers that we wanted to take home and it took 3 requests for a bag and to go dish before we could leave. We will give them at least one more time before we decide to never return and try out a new place for our Broadway shows. This was also a special night as we were celebrating our 23rd anniversary to the date. I sure hope things are better for our next night out. Like I said, the food was exquisite and to die for, just the service seemed lack and it seemed that it's due to the sinkhole that yinz obviously have no control over. Here's hoping to having better service on our next date night.
The food and service was fabulous.
We wanted to try the restaurant for dinner after a show at the Benedum and it was very good! A nice varied selection on the menu and food was delicious.
Always a great meal, wonderful service. Would recommend.
Ten Penny was wonderful! From 4-6 was happy hour with half off appetizers which we greatly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend!
We have been to Ten Penny several times, but this visit was disappointing. The food was not as good as we remembered. My husband ordered a Ten Penny Salad, but it lacked many of the ingredients described on the menu. My choice was the Chicken Piccata, and the chicken was overcooked. The waitress struggled was the bill which required assistance from the manager. The explanation from the manager was the waitress was new and overwhelmed. However their was a limited number of patrons and several wait staff. Sorry Ten Penny your establishment will not be on my list when we come to the Cultural District.
Wish I could give a better review, however, the restaurant was closed and their voicemail didn't indicate they were closed. Their website still allowed me to make a reservation and walk there only to find out they were closed. Not their fault due to the sinkhole, but, as an out of town customer away on business, it would be helpful to update your voicemail and website to indicate being closed.
Our entire party love the ambience of the place very much. Everyone said the place had a very cool vibe. Everyone seem to enjoy their food, although I was expecting my Cajun shrimp Alfredo to be a little bit spicier. The big downfall was the service. Our waitress admitted it was her fifth day there, so we were trying to give her as much leeway as possible. The young lady who actually brought out the food was incredibly rude and offputting. So much so that all four of us at our table made comments about how rude she was.
Really, really Long wait for only two soups and salads. No one there when we arrived, largely empty at Noon.
Got dressing on one salad... dead wrong and pre-dressed.
Have told others in my convention group to STAY AWAY!!!
