Wasn’t super impressed with the prices and food Our waitress was a little clueless. Meatloaf good but other stuff wasn’t great. Loud music.
The food was good, but the service is slow and it takes forever to even get your drinks.
Waiter was odd. Food was alright more of a dinner place than lunch
Excellent food and staff. Wish they had free parking.
While the location and interior of the place are good, the food is severely lacking in taste. My friend and I had the crab dip and the TP Meatball. Both came hot and served in large portions but the dip tasted like pure salt and the meatball had no flavor. The drinks were great but beyond that I don't know if I'll come back.
Neat interiors do not make up for not so good food. My friend ordered the Cajun shrimp Alfredo. There was nothing Cajun about it - absolutely no spice; no flavor. Likewise, there was nothing Alfredo about it. The dish was more akin to Mac n cheese.
I ordered Brussels sprouts, supposedly cooked in jack daniels and espresso. They tasted more like they’d been cooked in pure sugar. They were super sweet, and the so called smoked bacon did little to counter balance the sickly sweetness.
Good food and friendly staff. Only complaint is the timing of the food...our appetizer came out 2 minutes before our entree.
One out of four dinners were overcooked to the point of carbon. Soup, however, was outstanding. Manager made the problem right, with grace and aplomb. Not sure why they would send out a bad meal....wasn't that busy
We were in a hurry to get to a show and we told our server and she said not to worry. And sure enough we were out in plenty of time and even made to our show early. Food was excellent! Service excellent! Atmosphere excellent! Highly recommend!
First time at this restaurant. Our server Brian was excellent, the manager came by to check on us and was very friendly. No complaints. Appetizers were a touch on the expensive side, but was delicious so it was alright, we got the Pretzel Sliders and Calamari. Food was great for the most part (I'll explain), we got the Filet and Chicken and waffles. The Filet was cooked perfectly, good portion, wished it had like mashed / roasted potatoes but no worries, it was good. The chicken and waffles however needed help, it was served with 2 smaller chicken thighs. Cooked well, but very bony. You had to dismantle the chicken thighs to get through to the waffle below, which was (an ok. waffle. Not Belgian style) Lots of bones. The flavors were excellent, but that chicken was poorly executed. So I docked a couple points for that. I will go back though and probably just order a different entree.
The calamari and cornbread appetizer were excellent! The salmon was very good, cooked perfectly. The meatloaf would have been very good, however the sides were cold. We enjoyed the brownie cheesecake and the tiramisu, nothing spectacular but enjoyable.
Used to be a favorite spot of ours. Lay experience for lunch on a weekend was marginal, at best. Brought out of town guests today and it was a repeat of the last lunch. Overlooked it once but this was definitely the last time we will eat there. It is a shame because the interior is so appealing. But service and food has definitely gone downhill.
Came for lunch one month after having dinner here. The Reuben at dinner was great so decided to have it again for lunch. Disappointed. The grease/oil the lunch Reuben was fried in was obviously old because it had a unsavory taste affecting the taste of the sandwich. But what was even worse was when I pulled out of the sandwich a large, rubbery thick slab of gristle when I tried to take the first bite of the Reuben. I had never had corned beef that had such a wad of gristle and couldn't believe that any "chef" would make a sandwich with that left in the meat, let alone have it delivered to a table. And the French fries were likewise old, cold and unflavorful. But the boys enjoyed their burgers and my wife said the Jacked Up Grilled Cheese was good and tasty. If this were my only time at Ten Penny, I most likely wouldn't return.
Enjoyed the food. Very good service. Reasonably priced. We will return.
Good location, on an open corner near the convention center. Lively crowd and the food was very good and seemed like the prices were in line.
On line and actual Menus not aligned and a number of options not available. What we had was very good and staff excellent. Quick and efficient
Cool vibe and overall very good, attentive service. Most dishes are ‘reimagined’ versions of classic comfort foods. The major flaw affecting the food score was a consensus from our group of five people that all dishes were over-salted from the kitchen.
We were seated immediately, but that is where the efficiency stopped. Ordered house cab and chard.
Waited 20 minutes to be told that they were out of house cab. Ten minutes later told. that they were out of the chard. No substitute wines. Reordered drinks which were delivered about 10 minutes later. Ordered appetizer and when it was delivered, we ordered entrees. Entrees came about 5 minutes after appetizer.
Food was mediocre, service was poor.
Hopefully , this was just a bad day as we have been here before and enjoyed.
First, let me say I have been here numerous times and would give each previous experience five stars. This time, my friend and I arrived about 5 minutes before our scheduled reservations and ordered drinks
We were very surprised and didn't believe the selections offered on the menu. Our meals were perfectly prepared and delivered within 15 minutes of ordering. We liked it so much we are going back again next week. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
They sat us at a table right near the service area and restrooms when there were plenty of bigger tables. I was sorry I made a reservation because I saw other parties of 2 and they were given bigger tables. Also their on line menu had more selection than they had when we got there. We did see the brunch/lunch menu on line and had decided in advance but neither item we chose was on the menu.
Great food, cold beer, great ambiance! Wait staff was wonderful too. The only negative was the hostess stationed at the door — didn’t talk, didn’t smile, didn’t pick up her feet when she walked. She was NOT the person to place at the door.
Service was horrible
Our check was incorrect
Food was okay, we waited forever
Short walk about ten minutes from Cultural District. High and low tables available for seating. Bar is nice with nice selection of draft beers. Appetizers are good. Menu includes comfort foods like meatloaf and other choices including chicken and fish.
Great place for after show.
Decent food, some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced
Poor experience. Apps we ok, little crab in the crab dip, corn bread was good. Entrees we not good. NU Strip was overcooked and dry, had been under heat lamp too long... served with only a few sliced Crimini mushroom and a too sweet reduction, food runner brought plates to table and no one checked in on us afterwards. Manager eventually comped some of meal but experience was already blown.
Overall, I had a so so experience. However I was bringing out of town guests and I was hoping to give them a special night. Our appetizer came out after our meals, the staff apologized but it was still disappointing. I ordered the Cajun shrimp Alfredo. I ate it in about 5 minutes it was so tiny. My guests also had similar portions. Very small portions for the price you pay. I also requested normal seating, NOT the high top, however we were seated at a high top despite plenty of standard seating being open.
Everything was great except it was too loud to have any conversation. I actually decided to cancel a business meeting since we would not be able to hear each other.
We enjoyed our dinner very much! The food and drink were delicious and the server was very friendly and helpful. Our visit was quite early in the evening so it was rather quiet, which is a good thing. Prices were very reasonable and we will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely time!
Had early dinner after CLO. Seated early. Given opportunity to choose seating. Good drink menu as well as food menu. Prompt service and attentive. Moderately priced. Had chicken piccata which was plentiful.
Second time eating here and would return.
I made reservations and was seated quickly. All the staff was friendly and professional. When asked questions they were knowledgeable and honest. I and my friends had a wonderful experience.
very nice evening with friends.good food and drinks, it a bit noisy
food was tasty fast and our waitress was very accommodating to our needs
The meals are all excellent!! We have been there for dinner, and this time for lunch on a Sunday. Not a large selection on the menu, but the banana broule French toast was heavenly and all 6 others at my table raves about their food too! Highly recommend! Parking is a problem, so Uber is best.
Great time and good food!
Great place for lunch and casual dinner. Family friendly with a nice selection on the kid’s menu. Good beer selection at the bar. Friendly and courteous service. Great location and easy to walk to from most places in downtown Pittsburgh.
We always go to Ten Penny for special occasions and it never disappoints. This time we took two of my cousins and they loved it. My daughter chose the restaurant because we were celebrating her great first year of high school. She specifically wanted the Dirty Pierogi Flatbread and it was a hit with everyone.
Food was spicier than we thought it would be. Wish the menu would have mentioned it.
Food was good. Service not so good. Soup brought late and main course came before able to finish
Excellent service! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a warm
