We came here for my birthday last night which required a $20/person fee just to get a table that was not a dining credit. It took 5-10 minutes to even get a drink menu and we ended up moving to the bar area because the music (albeit great music) was too loud and the space was very crowded. The cocktails were great, Gretchen did such an awesome job and worked really hard to make the experience the best she could. The spinach and goat cheese toasted raviolis had great flavor but were lukewarm by the time they got to us, the salad was just okay. There were dirty dishes and glasses left on our table for a half hour and we watched the hostess sit on the wall and mosey around while everyone around her was trying to get things done - I believe had she kicked it into gear and helped where needed it would have made a huge difference. By the time an hour and a half rolled around and we still hadn’t received entrees, we had to just call it, settle up, and try to salvage the rest of the night. Once we decided we were leaving all of our food was magically finished and they ended up kindly boxing it up to take home. The $48 steak was good, but the cut was not that of a $48 steak - the fat wasn’t rendered and the au poivre left much to be desired. The potato croquettes were virtually flavorless, and the pasta seemed like something out of Olive Garden. We were promised and paid for an inventive culinary experience and it felt like nothing short of a scam. I applaud all of the hard-working staff who did their best, at the end of the day they just weren’t empowered to create a great evening.

STANDING OVATION All the food was amazing but this was far more than dinner out. I am a total foodie and had romantic ideas of what a Supper Club experience would be like and this exceeded my expectations. Lovely live music, beautiful setting, amazing food, great service, amazing conversation with friends and NEVER felt rushed as they do not turn tables. Amy and Vito Racanelli have thought through every detail you can imagine and along with their staffs were amazing hosts for the evening. We arrived at 6:30pm and closed the place down a little past 10pm. Not once did we feel rushed. In fact, I felt like I was in someone’s private space where they truly cared for our well being. This was our first time at Tempus and some of the things that stuck out to me were all the service wear; plates, serving dishes and cutlery were all beautiful and part of the experience. The tables are all beautifully hand-crafted by a local woodworker and during dinner I found myself studying the grains of the table as it was so beautiful. Ok now for the food and beverage overview. I started with an old-fashioned and it was amazing. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling white wine, I highly recommend the 2020 Saint-Hillaire, Blanquette de Limoux, France – great deal at $38! I am so grateful that the foodie friends who went with us love to try lots of things so we shared EVERYTHING and got to taste so much. There was an amuse-bouche that they brought to the table with a roasted eggplant on toast points and a cucumber with some sort of whipped cheese on top. This was a great way to awaken our taste buds. We then had Smoked Trout with Toast Points which were perfect texture and flavor. Next were 2 Waldorf Salads with the plates and salad properly chilled and perfectly dressed. Excellent and not to be missed. Before our entrees arrived, we ordered the bottle of Pinot Noir which paired very nicely with the rest of the meal that was on the way. We took part in the Valentine’s Day event and had amazing service, food, and atmosphere! Normally I avoid restaurants on V Day because they are overwhelmed and you get less than desirable quality for the price. Not here!! We will absolutely be back!

Waiter was aloof, disinterested, or flustered, but generally not too helpful. They didn’t know the menu, were a bit impatient, and someone was annoyingly hovering with a flash camera throughout the night. Food was well planned but not well executed. Dry rolls, undercooked ratatouille, overcooked trout. The ravioli were really good as was the dessert, but I believe the cake was brought in from a local bakery and it stole the show. Overall it was an ambitious yet clunky experience, but maybe that’s normal of pop ups of this variety. If you want that disjoint, opening night, working the kinks out excitement at the going rate of a nice sit down, then forgo the traditional and let the Tempus team of caterers play restaurant for you.

We were pretty disappointed with the New Year’s Eve prefix dinner. It definitely did not live up to the $95/per person price. The drinks were also quite expensive, $15 for a glass of wine or cocktail, yikes. All the dishes were served cold or just at room temp, and had obviously been sitting a while. We received our bread, without butter or olive oil, a good 15 minutes before our first course. In general the pacing of the courses was weird, too much time between them for sure. Nothing tasted bad, it just wasn’t good. The atmosphere was a bit pretentious for a establishment serving subpar food. When you spend hundreds of dollars on a dinner and drinks, one would expect to be satisfied with the quality and satiated with the quantity, neither of which we were.

What an awesome way to spend NYE! Thank you Vito and Amy for an absolutely perfect menu! Everything was delicious and the customer service was exceptional, as always! The crab cake, lobster ravioli, beef wellington, and that chocolate-pistachio-toffee bark with the chocolate mousse 👌👌👌👌👌!!!

My girlfriend and I came from out of town. This was our finest dining experience yet. What a way to celebrate New Year’s Eve. As soon as you walk into Tempus your mood quickly changes and you’re in a relaxed and beautiful environment. The food was amazing. The service was great. A smile everywhere from everyone within the restaurant. We will definitely come back again!

The food relied heavily on local ingredients--everything was delicious, from the focaccia with butter and molasses, to the tomato-ricotta appetizer, to the main course of hen of the woods mushrooms. One of the best restaurants in St Louis.

Intimate and cozy atmosphere. Enjoyed the assortment of meals and the drinks were amazing. Def try the strawberry vodka cocktail! Each of the foods were moderately portioned, and the staff explained the sizes were built on the fact that you should order one of each course. I ordered the focaccia bread, croquettes and wild mushroom. I still had room for dessert and was glad I did. The chocolate dessert was amazing, portioned enough to feed two. Will def be back! Appreciate the staff who wore masks and asked for proof of vaccination. The dining area is cozy, so not much room for a big crowd. I can def see why this is on USA Today’s list. So glad to have experienced this gem in St. Louis

We really enjoyed our meal but felt rushed, service was attentive, but you barely finished one course and the next was being set down. Semi understandable on a busy Friday or Saturday. It was not busy on the night we visited. Cocktails & 3 courses was one hour.

Outstanding food and service. Our waiter was very friendly but also capable. She helped us understand the menu and deal with some food restrictions in ways that allowed us to enjoy the excellent food. The food was innovative without being “weird”. Just delicious. All four of us agreed that this restaurant is among the very best.

A disappointing start as the hostess lead us to an isolated table in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen, guiding us past several more desirable tables. We noticed that no other couples were guided to that table the entire time we dined (over an hour). When we insisted on sitting at the table next to the one she had lead us to, she balked but ultimately relented when it became apparent we weren’t backing down. Our waitress was very proficient. The appetizers (broccoli and croquettes) were very tasty albeit a bit pricey. The crab over a bed of rice my wife ordered, was fair but definitely over priced at $47! My pork steak on a bed of collard greens and grits was unique and tasty. However, I did leave still a bit hungry. We passed on dessert - not enough options that interested us. The ambiance was average but we both sensed an air of “snootiness,” not something we expected from a restaurant in the Grove neighborhood - not helped by the inhospitable hostess.

Our first time but long awaited visit to Tempus. Everything exceeded our expectations. Every dish was amazing! Wish we could have tried them all. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. Food and cocktails were amazing! Focaccia is to die for and halibut was melt in your mouth. Only criticisms: - options for vegetarian or pescatarian are limited; many small plates at first appeared to be veg friendly but then had bits of meat or were cooked in meat broths with no option to amend. - music was a bit out of sync with the mood, bass was loud and I was expecting more chill music.
