Tempranillo offers on and off site catering for parties of 10 to 250. We customize all catering menus and formats for each client. On site catering includes lunch parties for 10, dinner parties for 20 at our community table, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the patio or in the garden and formal dinners for up to 100 in the dining room.
Tempranillo currently caters all of the food for the Spain tent at the Aspen Food and Wine Festival which requires providing food for up to 5,000 people per day.
Private parking for Tempranillo restaurant is located on the south side of the building, next to Alpine Bank. There is also parking directly in front of the restaurant and street parking adjacent.
RFTA bus stop from Aspen, Snowmass and Glenwood Springs is located less than 1 block from Tempranillo Restaurant. From the bus stop, follow Midland ave 1 block and Tempranillo Restaurant will be on the right hand side in the big yellow building.

We were packed into the restaurant so tightly that the servers could not reach all of the tables. We left after waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes without even receiving our appetizer. The owners greed proved a disservice to his employees and customers. I had looked forward to enjoying a nice evening with my wife, trying some of the delicious sounding food on the menu, but will never return.
As always, food and service were very good. However, on their website they advertise Tapas Tuesday, but did not indicate that the specials only apply at the bar. Of course, the rather abrupt waitress who seated us failed to tell us this. So we missed out on any of the specials. The service at our table (courtesy of Gregory), however, was very good.
Charming, redesigned saloon/bed & breakfast from the late 1800s. Tapas menu is well designed and balanced with a variety of vegetarian and meat items. All dishes were supremely seasoned and delightfully presented. Calamari was lightly breaded and fried perfectly. Salads were perfectly dressed. You can tell the chef takes great care in their craft.
We had a reservation at Tempranillo at 6:30 through Open Table, which was confirmed by Open Table. When we arrived at 6:30, the poor, confused people at Tempranillo did not have our reservation. I showed them my confirmation from Open Table and they said, "...that explained it".
That did not explain it for me and I said so. They shrugged it off, saying that they consistently have problems with Open Table. They had no table for us, and would not have one. We were welcome to eat at the bar, but they attitude they conveyed toward it not being their problem made me want to eat somewhere else. Anywhere else.
I would not recommend Tempranillo OR Open Table!
I am disgusted with their attitude and that they have obviously had this happen before and have done nothing about it. It shows me a glaring problem with Open Table as well, and I will call for reservations from now on at any restaurant I choose. Open Table is not reliable.
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, the food was good. The service on the other hand was inexcusable.
6:30 reservation for 5 people. We were squished at a small circular table that was for 4 people max. It was cramped as could be and very uncomfortable. Our waiter was kind, but very slow. It took a while to get a drink order in and then even longer to get a food order in, around 30 min.
Now let's get to where everything went wrong... we didn't get our food until 8pm. ONE AND A HALF HOURS after we arrived. Our waiter avoided us during this period and apologized briefly after about an hour of this wait. We ordered appetizers and dinner. It all came at once two hours later. Meanwhile, other tables that arrived after us that had different waiters had wonderful service. Two tables that arrived around 7pm had already signed their checks by the time we received our appetizers. This was likely a kitchen error or our waiter didn't fire the order. In any case, our waiter could not have cared less about us.
The manager apologized briefly when our food arrived. At the end, we signed the check and were finishing our drinks when the waiter PICKED UP THE SIGNED BILL TO CHECK HIS TIP. The cojones. When he realized that we didn't stiff him, he thanked us profusely. This whole experience was absolutely baffling and horrible.
I will never return because of this service. I would give most restaurants a second chance but not this one. It's a shame because the food was actually quite good. As the other poor reviews have said... the service sucks.
Luis did a great job taking care of my large family and our variety of dietary restrictions for Christmas Eve dinner! Food was delicious and hit the spot for the diverse tastes in our family. Cocktails were also delicious--one of the best-balanced sazeracs I've tasted. We arrived early when the restaurant was quiet, but it was packed and hopping when we left. Overall a great dining experience!
We had a delicious birthday dinner, everyone was happy with their food choices, and we just love it! We have taken friends from out of town to Tempranillo in the past and we have also enjoyed anniversary dinners... an amazing restaurant with delicious tapas!
Simply Outstanding!! Great menu and comfortable setting! Nothing missing on the service side of things and terrific drinks from the bar! Fresh bread and oils, too many fabulous tapas to eat as much as you would like! Great specials and unforgettable main entree items. You have given “yum” an exceptionally higher meaning with eating excellence!
We shared the bruschetta mista, and then started with a Caesar salad for my husband and caprese salad for me. For our mains, I had the Pasta Genovese and my husband had the veal Marsala. The food was excellent and Luis provided exceptional service, taking very good care of us while giving us time to relax and talk. Robert, our young busser was personable and friendly, while obviously working very hard. Overall, it was a very lovely evening. We make it a point to have dinner at Tempranillo every time we visit the Carbondale/ Bassalt area and it never disappoints!
The restaurant was very noisy. We had a tiny table for two. We order two tapas dishes and salads. The bruschetta tapas was not very good and consisted of three tiny bites. The shrimp was delicious but when we got the bill it was $25! More expensive than many of their full meals. Since their tapas prices were in the $12-$14 we were shocked at the expense and feel the waiter should have given a price when he was describing the special. I got the beet salad which had four tiny bites of beets. Both salads were small. We would not recommend this restaurant.
This is tough. I've loved Tempranillo for several years, having enjoyed some fabulous lunches on their porch and dinners inside their lovely rooms. But lately we've been turned off by a waitress who reminds us of Colonel Rosa Klebb from the James Bond movies. She's probably very sweet, but tends to grate. The paellas and black rice remain their best and most generous dishes. The wine list is all Spanish, so unfamiliar to most customers. Service really seemed to lag on past couple of visits. We'll keep trying, but hope they spiff up their act.
We went to Tempranillo to celebrate my wife's birthday. We got there and the table was ready for us. Service was awesome and the food was served in a decent amount of time. The taste was phenomenal, we ordered tapas and an entree and overall everything was outstanding. Definitely on our list of places to come back to when visiting the town of Basalt, CO.
Found this restaurant by chance last year and was impressed with the staff and food that we made it as a destination for a short trip. Both our server Luis and Jennifer the bar tender were very personable which enhanced our experience. Nice wine list and menu. If we lived closer, we would dine there more often....but it is worth the drive if you are staying in Aspen or driving through from Glenwood Springs.
My husband and I both had Veal Picatta...it was very good, but would be better if if was pounded thin.
It was our anniversary as noted in the reservation, so was a little disappointed that the manager/owner who checked us in, did not read the reservation notes; thought they would have sent us a token something for dessert.
As always, this is the perfect spot for any kind of lunch or dinner, but we so enjoy bringing out of towns friends to enjoy the ambiance, menu selections, wine selections and terrific wait staff at Tempranello. And no a wonderful summer evening the outdoor porch could not have been a better or more perfect setting. My second time for dinner at this restaurant 14 miles from Aspen in the town of Basalt. I remembered it well from 2 years earlier because of the ambience, cuisine from Spain, and terrific wines. Sitting on the porch on a summer evening was delightful and service was excellent without being intrusive. Great to try new food and wine!
I had been here before and really enjoyed it but on my most recent visit our waiter was rude. Wouldn't take appetizer order without knowing what we wanted for dinner- said he had to submit all the orders at once???
Food also wasn't as good as I remember.
Won't be back.
What a great place to have a FINE meal in the Roaring Fork Valley! The menu, service and quality of food is what you'd expect to find in any 5-star restaurant in a large US city, but the added benefit of this place is the quaint Basalt, CO location. If you're in the area and are looking for a top-tier dining experience, don't hesitate. Tempranillo won't disappoint.
