I was surprised that it was as crowded on a Monday evening. I selected this because we had a business dinner and i did put that in my choice. When i arrived i asked for a table a bit more removed, but there were only '5' of us vs. '6'. :(
I have eaten here before and would do socially, just perhaps not if i needed a quiet place to discuss business.
I made a reservation there for friends and myself. We all had a great time dining at the restaurant. Everything from the food, to the ambience, and to the waiter was 5 star. I live in Texas and I will certainly return there when I come back to Aspen.
Tempranillo is a lovely restaurant in a beautiful historic building in Historic Downtown Basalt. I love this restaurant in the summer when the patio is open and in the winter in the cozy dining room or bar. Always great service and delicious food.
I would recommend Tempranillo. This review reflects my second visit in 3 months, each with a different people and for a different occasion. The service, food, and ambiance are first rate.
Food was fantastic and reasonably priced
Very extensive menu, nice bar area, food was very good and served promptly. Wait staff was attentive, able to have a nice conversation without yelling.
The service was outstanding, and so was the food. In fact, we made a reservation for 2 nights later!
Great restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Loud but that’s the point.
interesting building. great wine list. we found something special. lots of tapas plates for dinner and we liked most of them. the tables for two are really squeezed into the middle of everything and we got bumped into alot which stressed us out until we got into our wine.
The food is consistently great. Service on this occasion was not up to the usual standards although friendly and welcoming.
It was Valentines Day. We normally would not go out to dinner on that day but decided to do just that. Tempranillo was up to the task. The service was great , food was wonderful...they did an amazing job on such a busy night.
Awesome atmosphere and charm w tapas-super fun to share!!!
Always eat here on our biz trips
Love this place❤️
Always a great meal here.
An interesting menu with lots of specials offered each evening.
We did the grill octopus and scallop starter and osso bucco...both were delicious.
Great wine list and excellent service.
Very good very nice
Tempranillo easily accommodated our large group of 9 (including kids), with delicious dishes that made everyone happy. Service was very efficient and attentive, if not super warm and fuzzy. :) The elderflower tequila cocktail sounded like a weird combination but was quite delicious.
Food and drinks were good. The waitress was surly, not the first time we have experienced this treatment at this restaurant. It makes you think twice about going back.
The food was great. Very good service. We were a party of 9. And everybody was pleased with everything
We really enjoy tapas style eating and the menu at Tempranillo was appealing. The host that greeted us was borderline rude, and with our Opentable reservation we were seated at a tiny table squished between a party of 8 and another of 4. This wouldn’t have necessarily been a problem, though ...
1) We ordered cocktails to start.
2) We said we’d like to order a couple tapas and our waiter said they were very busy so we should order everything and he would “course it out”, so we ordered 5 tapas and a nice bottle of Spanish wine.
3) We finally received the cocktails, and then all 5 tapas were presented within 5-10 minutes. So we had this tiny table and 5 plates of tapas with cocktails and shortly thereafter a bottle of wine so we didn’t really enjoy any of it before the tapas were cold. We pointed out to the waiter that everything arrived at once which is contrary to how tapas are served and he said he “was sorry” (though he was who said he would course them out).
4) We rarely complain but this was such a bad experience we had to hare it.
Quaint setting in downtown Basalt varied tapas great wine list. Enjoyed the paella and veal special. Great place for a group so you can share.
This was our second Christmas Eve with you and it was lovely. Such a nice relaxing atmosphere in the midst of an otherwise crazy time. Thank you for being open.
Delicious food freshly prepared. Great ambiance - love the big fireplace. Wine was great and they also have full bar. Appetizers and Tapas were amazing, and all of our entrees were so good!
I can always count on Tempranillo being consistently good, with many vegetarian options. The fires on either side of the restaurant are cozy and warm one up at this time of year. The bar is always fun.
waiter slightly annoyed when we wanted to order tapas first. Entre later. Shrimp were firm. Overcooked?
Food was excellent!! The fried artichokes and the garlic shrimp were phenomenal. The ambiance was perfect for a casual, yet sophisticated and nice dinner. Service was great as well! Highly recommend heading down the hill for something different than Aspen!
Always a great meal!
My favorite restaurant in all of Colorado. Amazing reception when arriving and departing. Adore our Bulgarian waitress. The owner's son only 14 pouring our waters with impeccable manners. I have yet to be disappointed in the service, quality of food and wine, and ambiance. I look forward to going to Tempranillo's every year. Thank you for going above and beyond. It's special.
Very good experience we've eaten there before and it was equally as good. The owner is great with his knowledge of in stock wines and is super hospitable. Had a new server that accidentally charged us for a 190.00 dollar bottles of wine, but that was resolved quickly and easily. Overall I'd highly recommend this place especially sitting in the bar side of the restaurant.
Simply the best restaurant in the Rorring Fork Valley all year long. Always our favorite restaurant.
When the menu says the chorizo and egg are served over potatoes, I don't expect those potatoes to be french fries. This wasn't McDonald's and we weren't paying McDonald's prices. That was HUGELY disappointing. There was also a VERY dramatic argument between the owner and another customer. The customer was WAY out of line from what we could tell. But the owner failed to diffuse the situation and the lengthy exchange was disruptive to the other patrons. Overall not at all what we expected based on the reputation of this establishment.
Food was so so and took a long tine to get food!
Great Basalt restaurant with a great menu including tapas, pastas and nice main courses. The waiter was GREAT. Very attentive, clear in descriptions, etc.
I started a book club and decided for this restaurant to be our first meeting place to discuss the first book. The ambiance was so nice and after arriving we learned it was ladies night which meant 25% off of our entire check. The tapas are so good. We had a great time and will be making this our go to monthly book club spot.
We have been visiting Basalt for the past 3 years. We’ve had drinks here before but this was the first time for dinner. They offer a nice selection of craft cocktails and appear to have a good wine list. The menu is extensive and it was hard to make a decision because everything sounded so good. We tried the olives, one of the sausage tapas, a Caesar salad and the elk ravioli which were all very flavorful and tasty. The disappointing part of the evening was our server. She started out okay but forgot about us as she got busy with other tables. There was quite a gap between when we got our first and main courses. We didn’t mind waiting but sat there with empty water & drink glasses until a different server finally helped us. It seemed like our server was helping everyone but us. I’m not sure if they needed more help or she needed to manage her time better. For what we spent on dinner and drinks, it was a very disappointing experience.
Great food and service. So many options to choose from it was difficult but the Paella was amazing!
Just an unbelievably great dining experience. All five meals were tremendous. We shared three Tapas as appetizers. All wonderful. The owner made a perfect recommendation for a bottle of Tempranillo wine. It was a blend of Tempranillo, Cab and Syrah. Could not have picked this myself.
The service was great. The owner checked on our table two or three times.
We could not have asked for a better dining experience.
Food and service was excellent. Restaurant has a large patio which was nice to enjoy the evening.
So many great choices on the menu....so we ordered many items. Especially tasty were the shrimp, the ahi tuna, the paella, the pasta caprese and the pasta Bolognese. Order the red wine Muga...Just outstanding food in such a beautiful setting in the adorable town of Basalt.! Music from across the street at Heathers was an added bonus. Thanks to all the wonderful firemen and firewomen and volunteers who saved this town following the Lake Christine fire!!
Paella was yummy! Asparagus will not disappoint. End of summer watermelon salad a must. Wine choices ample! Service a bit slow but cordial!
