Temporis Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated Valentines Day at Temporis and wow - I am so glad we did. Tasting menus are always a treat but this was something amazing. I had the premium wine pairing and my husband had the regular pairing. Both were perfect. Five wine selections perfectly complemented the ten courses. The attention to detail : spectacular. Sevice : awesome.
This isn't just an adventure for the palate but for the eyes and nose as well. I don't want to give away any surprises in my review. When L2O in Lincoln Park closed, I feared we'd never have such an intimate food experience like that again. Temporis didn't disappoint in any regard.
Some tasting menus includes one course (or more) that you could live without. Not so here. Everyone was excellent, inventive and worthy. Well done!
We went to Temporis for Valentine's Day and had the best experience! The staff was welcoming and attentive. We genuinely enjoyed every single item on the menu! (And usually there are one or two items on a tasting menu that you "appreciate for the art of cooking" -- here, everything was not only beautifully prepared, but delicious!) And bonus: everything smelled DELICIOUS! It was perfect for a fancy date!
Another impressive dining experience at Temporis. Yet again it was a fantastic all around evening. Such warm, personable and attentive service, beautiful and comfortable dining room, excellent wines and course-after-course of amazing cuisine. Definitely one of the most under-the-radar venues in town; Temporis has become among my favorite restaurants.
This restaurant flies under the radar, and serves only a chef's tasting menu -- you don't really know what you will get until you arrive. But that is part of the fun -- the food was outstanding and highly creative with many combinations and cooking methods I would never have expected. Both food and service are outstanding -- be prepared to take your time and enjoy the experience. We took the 2.5 hours predicted. 9 courses of adventure and each was a pristine jewel, nothing was a true miss but the absolute stand-out was the course with octopus cooked sous vide -- spectacular flavor and the octopus itself had the texture of a good scallop -- slightly firm on first bite then soft and luscious. Best I have ever had.
The food was close to the best restaurants in Chicago like alinea, grace and oriole but just not as good of a fine dining option as those. Would rather just spend a little extra and go to one of those. Its about 80 percent as good and about 80 percent of the price so I guess it’s fair enough if you think of things that way.
Tonight was an awesome experience. From the welcome to the intimate atmosphere. The food was well balanced and thought provoking. Unexpected elements and fun twists on classic elements lead to an excellent meal. The wine pairing was thoughtful and complimented the dishes throughout. I look forward to a return trip for a different season's menu!
Temporis is a nice addition to the Chicago dining scene. The chefs show great innovation and produce quality, creative, well thought out courses. Wine parings are nice and reasonable. It's a very intimate restaurant with a limited number of tables. Service is excellent. Overall, a really nice experience.
This is a hidden jewel in Chicago! Everything from the food to the service to the dinnerware, to the atmosphere was perfect. One must be adventuresome in terms of food and be able to put him/herself in the hands of the two exceptional chefs. Each one of the 10 courses was outstanding and creatively conceived and presented. My husband and I will be back again and again and again.
The two chefs at Temporis continue to create phenomenal tasting menu. I've been twice now, and I enjoyed the menu equally as much, if not more so, the second time. Menu items have changed with the seasons, and I would categorize all the courses as successes. One of the things that struck me on this visit was the sublime treatment of vegetables; it isn't only protein receiving royal treatment. The service was superb as well. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
I've driven by here a million times and finally looked it up online. So glad I did!! My husband and I dined here recently and really enjoyed our meal. It was very creative food and all of our dishes were tasty. At some prix fixe places not all of the dishes are excellent--we would say the all of the dishes were excellent! We will definitely return. Recommend the wine pairings.
We selected Temporis for date night and absolutely loved the entire experience!! From the knowledgeable and tentative staff to the carefully crafted flavorful dishes, the dinner was definitely memorable. We decided to do the wine pairing (do it!) and ended the dinner with some of the best coffee I have ever had. With the current menu, my top 5 dishes were the Merguez, Octopus, Duck, Wagyu and Robiola. BUT honestly, they were all fantastic dishes. GO.
We are fellow industry members who could not have been more excited to try this new local tasting menu. We had high expectations for Temporis but those expectations were unfulfilled. Each course had inconsistent descriptions and even after providing a dietary restriction, that restriction was not accommodated in all courses. There were 2 servers on the floor, we were 2 of 4 guests in the restaurant, and we had to keenly eavesdrop on the other table to compare course descriptions. After deciphering both servers where we able to understand all the ingredients and know the story behind the course (aka BLT, deconstructed apple pie, etc). The hydroponic micro greens were mentioned by servers to be used in a few courses meanwhile it was only used in one. In our opinion, a few courses were overcooked (tough octopus, duck, & canele).
We had a wonderful meal. Everything was beautifully presented, creative and delicious. The price tag is pretty hefty so we wouldn’t return for a long time - but we will return. We had the wine pairing and asked for some substitutions - the wine sommelier was fantastic. She provided great substitutions and never made us feel anything other than valued customers. Overall a great night.
We were really impressed with Temporis. The food was inventive but not in a silly way, and all delicious. The wine pairings were excellent, and a great value - they're not shy about topping you off if you're really enjoying a particular glass. Service was very attentive, but not invasive, and the timing and spacing of the dishes was enough to really enjoy the evening. The only thing I would change would be to omit one or two of the "foams."
My first time dining at Temporis was a beautiful, memorable, and once-in-a-lifetime experience full of tiny, food-addled moments of catharsis throughout the 11 course tasting menu and accompanying (graciously over-poured) wine pairing.
I came from New York to eat with a Chicagoan friend who was previously uninitiated to fine dining. His reaction to the combination of plating, taste, and serendipitously well-timed musical accompaniment was worth the trip and price, tenfold.
The restaurant is immaculate in style and aesthetics. Everything has a modern look to it, geometric, and playing off their spectacular branding. Their gold, silver, and bronze plated cards use a sophisticated algorithm to randomize the design of the logo on each card. This branding traverses to their menus - no two the same. Their meticulous attention to detail in the experience doesn't stop there.
The soft lights are programmed to react to the outside light and gently adjust to an optimal level. The bathrooms have elegant, galaxy off-black colored, cloth-like disposable hand towels perched upon the well designed sink that gently waterfalls a healthy volume of water for our pleasure. The service matches perfectly in excellence.
The chefs have a definite affinity for their molecular gastronomic ways. Each dish properly journeyed our senses through the spectrum of flavor. The first dish opened our appetites and made us immediately anticipate the next. Pictured below, the applewood-smoked cheese course was nothing short of spectacular. The Japanese Wagyu with it's french inspired sauce created an absolute explosion of umami. The crab BLT with espuma was an early dish with an inspired variety of flavors. The cauliflower, octopus, and ice cream were creative favorites.
The duck was stupendous. Definitely the best duck I've had and one of the top dishes I've had the pleasure of enjoying. I look forward to returning in the coming months for their next menu. Thank you.
My wife and I attended for our Anniversary and it was a terrific experience. The food was superlative and the host and Chef's were very friendly. This was one of the best experiences my wife and I have ever had at a top restaurant and we have been to most of the top restaurants in the Chicago area. Temporis receives a Grade of A+. We will be back and back often.
My husband and I had dinner at Temporis on Saturday evening, for my birthday dinner, while visiting Chicago from out of town. We wanted to try a newer restaurant rather than an old favorite and Temporis was absolutely delightful! The 10 course tasting menu was super fun, especially when paired with the wine tasting. The food is simply wonderful! Inventive, creatively plated and most of all superbly delicious. I am honestly not sure which course was my favorite as every course offered a little something different and just kept getting better and better. I can't say enough about the talented chefs and three ladies in the front of the house, all were so well informed, charming and attentive. I especially loved how the chefs shook our hand at the end of the night. Truly a wonderful experience and we will be back!
A stunning success. Excellent service, unassuming and simple, soothing ambiance with presentations that run from simple and elegant to more artistic and complex while consistently putting the complex (but always delicious) flavors and textures in service to the palette. Variety of the tasting menu is almost overwhelming, every dish contrasting with the previous. One plate led naturally to the next and was welcomed with gusto. By the end of 3 1/2 hours of wonderful dining, the meal seemed worth every minute, if not quite every penny!
The food was wonderful and very different from similar caliber, higher end tasting menus. Flavors were bold and platings were beautiful. We elected to pass on the wine pairings and to have a few glasses of white followed by a bottle of red, as they did have a nice selection of reasonably priced bottles. The price point for the wines by the glass, however, were not in line with the pour (it was the smallest pour I have ever seen outside of a wine pairing pour, thus disappointed here). Atmosphere is enjoyable and you could actually have a conversation. Service was attentive.
Temporis probably deserves 3-1/2 stars. Restaurant is a cozy, 20-seat place that has a nice bleak modern decor. They serve only a tasting menu and offer a wine pairing (which we partook in) or bottle service. We did not look at the wine list, but the pairing was a nice mixture of old world Spanish and French wines with the Champagne (first pairing) and the Spanish red (last savory pairing) being the stand-outs. The wine pairings were done as one glass for two dishes which usually I do not like, but it worked for this menu. The food was well-plated and interesting. The amuse bouche was an incredibly well-crafted dish and the A5 Waygu was well cooked. The one criticism I would have is that the dishes tried to do too much. Every dish seemed to have one or two ingredients too much (the amuse bouche being the exception here as that felt near perfect). I would recommend Temporis and believe it has a chance to grow into one of the better Chicago tasting menu spots, but it is still a step or two below some of the better ones we have been to such as Alinea, Smyth or Oriole.
Wonderful experience for a special occasion. Food was excellent, but definitely pricey. There are two things that I would improve: 1) There was just one occasion where it took me several minutes to get the server's attention, which shouldn't have been the case given that there were only a handful of other diners. 2) I wish they had presented a complete wine list at the same time as the tasting menu wine list.
Amazing meal! All the food was delicious and beautifully plated. The portions were more than enough to leave us feeling stuffed at the end of the night. I also had the wine pairings which went with the food wonderfully and the pours were more than generous!
Scrumptious, inventive food in elegant minimalist surroundings. Every plate is perfectly arranged and surprises with new and amazing flavor combinations. The staff is knowledgeable, interesting and an asset to this intimate place. A fine dining experience you will surely talk about for weeks to come.
Excellent experience. This is a 2 star Michelin experience. I've been to five 2 star restaurants and this is easily on par with those. The entire team works extremely hard to make sure you have a memorable time. The food is beautiful and well executed.
I was a little skeptical going in due to the lack of fanfare, but we were happily surprised. Not a single regret with my choice.
