We believe that food that is inspired will translate into dishes that are the right blend of modern, yet approachable, familiar yet creative. This is the key to a memorable meal. Wine pairings ($95 and $165) and a bottle list will be offered, as well as some classic cocktails and non-alcoholic options. The atmosphere is intimate and modern. Business-casual or “cocktail” attire is suggested.
It was an inspired night of food! Phenomenal food and overall dining experience.
Excellent menu and wine-pairings. Unassuming but a real experience to be carried through the tasting. Friendly, helpful service from the staff. The reserve wine pairing was totally worth it.
Enjoyable evening. Each dish explained by the chef who prepared it. No dish was similar so for each dish you experienced a different taste, texture or food type so it was fun to guess what comes next without reviewing the tasting menu. Expect a 3 hour dining experience.
Temporis has fast become one of my very favorite restaurants. What's not to love about this place? Super friendly staff that is both polished, yet personable and truly enhances the dining experience. Amazing, food that uses top quality ingredients, is perfectly executed and manages to be both unique and delicious course-after-course. A relaxing, elegant (but not at all stuff) comfortable dining room. On top of this the venue is at such a great point in time, at two years old they have hit their stride and found their identity, yet are still thirsty and pushing to elevate even higher. And on top of this Temporis is probably the best bargain in fine dining in town!
Wonderful experience. Foodie without the fancy. Polished without the stuffy. Precise without all the rules of engagement. Great food, great fun, and great service for the entire party, not one size fits all. Dinner with an edge, a message, and a sense of humor, and above all flat out great food. If you enjoy the tasting menu format, or if you are curious, do yourself a favor and grab the next available reservation...and don’t forget the wine pairing. Cheers!
Impeccable!! Would definitely go back, and will continue recommending it to everyone.
Wondeful service, inventive menu. We enjoyed all the delicious dishes and wine pairing, we did the standard pairing. We added the white truffle to our dessert and it did not disappoint. Our favorites, my husband loved the rabbit meatloaf and corn 4 ways. I loved the scallop, the omelette and the take on the PB J with the foie ice cream. Thank you for a great dining experience.
Food portions were not large, but the food was delicious and creative. We liked the option to have 2/3 wine pairings.
The food was nice, and the seasonal white truffles were a treat. Service was pleasant and collegial, but very slow (it was a 4+ hour meal - make sure to leave extra time). It took almost 20 minutes to be approached about drinks and our preference. Not in the same tier as Oriole or Alinea, but a very nice dining option.
The restaurant was fantastic and food and atmosphere incredible.
Very well crafted food that can also be fun. Chef was involved in the tables and active. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Had a higher expectation for a Michelin star restaurant..? We had the tasting menu with wine pairing:
Presentation was artful and intriguing. However, the dishes were complex to the point of overwhelming the main ingredient rather than supporting/showcasing/enhancing it. The overall flavors and textures were good, but a bit confusing as to their focus on the palate. One dish came quite oversalted. Sent back and returned about the same, indicating that the pre-prepped elements remained unchanged. Another dish arrived well below serving temperature.
The wine pairing was enjoyable throughout the meal. Many were spot on. The highlight of the evening was the service. Very personable and attentive! Among the best that we have experienced...
All in all, an OK evening, but there are many other (non-starred) restaurants in Chicago that provide a higher and more enjoyable culinary experience. I would suggest that you try those first.
The team at Temporis earned their Michelin star recently, and it is well deserved.
Dinner at Temporis brings you through an American contemporary tasting menu, which in essence is the application of a melting pot in cuisine with a modern twist. The contemporary style is immersed throughout the restaurant from the décor to the presentation of food. One distinct example is chef Donald Young’s use of hydroponic plant that they grow in the basement and plant in the middle of the table after the first two dishes. The plant is a palate cleanser between dishes with a robust radish and cabbage flavor while also being used for tableside service in one of the dishes.
The name, Temporis, suggests seasonality while featuring local ingredients throughout the ten courses, which is best enjoyed with a wine pairing. Thoughtfully, Chef Young relaxes the atmosphere with an amuse bouche donut wrapped with iberco ham by letting the eater touch the food. Touch allows for familiarity to emerge and the audience can now begin the real show with a fine piece of turbot deep in ocean flavors enhanced with uni. Capellini and scallop dipped in performance, as they seemed too uniform in their taste and did not deliver the same levels of flavor that were to follow. That said, it does not mean it was bad food, as it still is delectable.
The remaining dishes elevated the occasion with surprises such as portobello with shaved autumn truffle raining all over the petite and perfectly cooked omelet wrapped around the portobello. Its simplicity did not allow for error while the earthiness of the truffle expressed the authenticity of the flavors within while being seamlessly paired with a profound Beaujolais. In addition, Chef Young’s nostalgic expression in rabbit is a true chef-d'oeuvre via his personal story of Midwestern home cooking, or the lack off. Rabbit demonstrates a tremendous gastronomic voice, as culinary skill is fused with history.
It is the variation of expertly executed food with skillful paired wine why one should return to this West Town location.
We went to Temporis for our 17th year anniversary. The place is small which has been an advantage since it felt like the attention and the service they gave to each of the tables are superb. The food was delicious. Each course did not fail to surprise and prepared very nicely and tasty. The tasting menu price is very reasonable compared to other Michelin starred restaurant! They made our night very special. I would definitely recommend this place for those who are in the budget but would love to experience a 5 star service and food!
Amazing. Fancy. What a special place. So glad to have this in our neighborhood!!
Among the finest two or three degustations I have enjoyed in the past several years of Chicago dining. Excellent wine list and wine service! Broad selections of Euro and American bottles, and well-chosen pairing options available too. (All-Euro, alas, on our evening.) Pristine platings and beautiful serving pieces add visual and textural pleasures. Thoroughly thrilled by the white truffle additional course. One (fish) course was rather heavily salted, however. The later-course meats and seasonings were magnificent. Desserts were original and clever, and modest in scale. The restaurant is a marvel of design, sound, and lighting detail, in spite of its urban corner setting on Ashland.
The tariff is high, but still, it’s a great value to find a gem like this and its level of dedication from a young, creative team! Bravo!
Very creative food and excellent wine pairings. One wine selection sees you through two courses, but they'll top off your glass if you're running low--an unusual policy that we really appreciated. I especially enjoyed the escargot amuse bouche and the clever riff on grilled cheese and tomato soup (the sandwich made with comte cheese and thin slices of brioche. The soup came with a small scoop of tomato sorbet). Everything was plated beautifully. The service was excellent. Wait staff are very knowledgeable and quietly friendly (without going overboard). Two quibbles: I thought they left us too long before bringing the first course. (But in fairness, we were 30 minutes early, so maybe the kitchen wasn't ready for us.) Also, the sweet courses were not as good as the savory ones. I didn't particularly enjoy eating the pear with almond and granola, though it looked beautiful
The staff and food was amazing.
Newly crowned. Michelin 1, but they had a rough night in the kitchen. The amuse bouche didn’t show up until 35 minutes from seating and then the first course not until 50 minutes in. All told a normal 21/2 hour meal turned in nearly 4 hours. They did apologize half way through the meal saying there had been a ‘crisis’ in the kitchen, and the food itself was excellent so I’ll put this down to a rough night. They gave me a generous complimentary shaving of white truffle on the pasta dish so can’t complain too much.
The food was exceptional! The service was great, the staff was so personable and truly made the experience! And the wine... was excellent! Make sure you get the wine reserve wine paring!
Outstanding food, service and experience. One of my new favorite restaurants in Chicago. It's a Michelin star so it's pricey, but for the experience and caliber of food here, I would have expected to pay more, so was pleasantly surprised by that! I loved every single dish in the 9 course meal and can't wait to go back again when the menu changes.
Exceptional dining experience. Took my wife for her birthday and it was a memorable experience. We had the standard wine pairing which was extremely good. We liked how they paired two courses with each pairing and then gave a more than generous pour for each pairing. I highly recommend if you're looking for a memorable, 2 to 3 hour culinary journey.
Really good food. One of the better tasting menus we've had as of late. Not Alinea quality, but not Alinea prices either. We did the light pour wine pairing which was a really nice option to have. Would definitely recommend.
Temporis was already fantastic the first time I went, but somehow continues to steadily improve each subsequent visit; it has become among my very favorite venues in Chicago. Every single course is thoughtful, creative, utilizes high quality ingredients and perfectly executed. Not only does each course also taste amazing, but it is beautifully presented and often smells outstanding as well; definitely a multi-sensory experience (and perhaps the best value in fine dining in town). The dining room is perfect; elegant but laid back, well spaced tables and extremely comfortable. Service is also top notch; the perfect balance of polished yet personable. Just an all around incredibly enjoyable experience.
They try a little too hard and wasn’t impressed with the attempts at upselling wine pairing options, white truffle etc. but generally nice experience but won’t be rushing back
Amazing every time - it would be a real mistake not to come when you have the chance
One of the best. Food was delicious and creative. Wine pairings nicely complemented the food. A true experience.
Temporis was new to us, and was great. It is small ("tiny" is the best descriptor), and the food is great, and highly innovative. The wine pairings were excellent, and service without flaw.
3 hours for 10 courses...exhausted and braced the freedom after stepping out the restaurant
An absolutely amazing gastronomic experience...creative, innovative and delicious!
Must try. I did not know what to think but they earned that star honestly.
Amazing experience all-around, had an amazing first anniversary celebration here that we'll never forget!
Was dank. Do want again. Stand out dishes were the duck, the capellini and the wood smoked cheese.
It was fantastic experience. It's definitely worth visiting.
The food and wine were really great, but the service is what made the experience exceptional!
Better than ever
Awesome staff, truly fun and exciting. Also, great win paring choices.
Amazing tasting menu! We left full and extremely satisfied after the 11 delicious courses. I enjoyed the wine pairing with the reduced pour and the service was impeccable!
Run don't walk to Temporis! This place is amazing and worthy of its Michelin * . Creative, fun, tasty, food. Great, well-measured service. Good pacing from the kitchen. Tasty cocktails, and a great wine selection. This place is winner, hands down!
