Very good service, attentive but not overbearing server who provided us with useful and helpful information about the menu items. Food was very good, I ordered the steak frites. Little bit loud and dimly lit, but otherwise excellent experience.

Our waitress was not on her game. She brought out one entree with the apps (there were 4 of us) and then the three other entrees came out much later and the person whose entree came out early was finished and had to sit there while the rest of us ate. The timing was a mess. Then she threw away the “take home” doggie bag. Nightmare. So bummed. Had been there before and picked this restaurant on my birthday. Oh well.

The service was excellent.the food was another story.my wild mushroom and grits was lacking in mushrooms. My friend's cheeseburger ordered mediam came without the cheese and was overdone. I have stopped ordering hamburgers here since they went to the two patty burger which lends itself to being overdone.I used to love the hamburgers here and now I never order them here.

Very disappointed. I've been admiring the look of this restaurant for a while, and decided to try it out with my mom. The ambience is beautiful and the menu looked good. Figured, it's got to be good! Lesson learned: Don't judge a book by its cover! Service was terribly slow. For example, waitress served coffee and then asked if we wanted cream. Took her at least 5 minutes, if not 10, to bring it to us. And she didn't even apologize, as if that was normal. And the restaurant wasn't even busy! She was nice, just wicked slow. To add to service woes, another server didn't know where he was bringing his food, and asked us if we'd ordered the such and such...As for review of the food, although ricotta donuts were delicious, the actual breakfast (the breakfast sandwich) was such a disappointment. Biscuit was dry. Sausage was way too seasoned, and almost tasted fake. And what's with American cheese?! In sum, won't be coming back. Wanted to like the place because of its awesome ambience, but it all comes down to the quality of food...and this place needs to try harder.

We were in Cambridge to go salsa dancing for our anniversary. I did a search on open table for restaurants in the Cambridge area and chose The Temple Bar because the menu looked good and the pictures of the restaurant looked romantic and warm and cozy for our special night. The restaurant atmosphere was perfect and had a nice ambiance. The bar was busy and very welcoming. The drink menu had many creative drinks to choose from. The hostess greeted us with a smile and was happy to seat us right away at a cozy window seat. Our server was also great. The best part was the food was amazing! We had the mussels for an appetizer and halibut for dinner, so flavorful. The prices were all reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and I already have to several friends.

Temple Bar is my new "go-to" restaurant for when my family is in town. It's classy without being off-putting, cozy without being cramped, and the food is usually a cool spin on familiar comfort foods (soufflé pancakes, poutine, mini doughnuts). Great beer menu with rotating favorites like Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and other craft picks. All in all a safe choice for a good time.

Great spot for date night or catching up with a friend. For appetizers, my friend and I ordered the calamari (delicious but the corn dusting on the calamari took a little away from the flavor) and the nettle spatzle. The nettle spatzle was tasty but was surprisingly small - like what would be 3 tablespoons of spatzle in the middle of a bowl. I had the bronzini which was excellent and my friend had the lamb (which is cooked a few different ways in the same dish) which was really delicious.

Our server was great - you could tell she was vegetarian but still had it within her to provide suggestions for meat-based offerings. Overall, the food was very good, the service was good to excellent (busy night so bar service was slower) and the menu offerings were both unique and delicious.

Highly recommend this place, especially if you like fine crafted cocktails with the ambience to go with it. Food was also outstanding. Absolutely loved the salt and pepper calamari with shishito peppers. Really nice twist on the classic and perfectly executed. We were a party of six that comfortably fit in one of there oversized round leather booths. We tasted across the menu and would give highest praise to their seafood items. And the caramel dark chocolate pudding that arrived at the end of the meal with a birthday candle in it was to die for. Everyone in the group had to have a bite. Also high praise to our awesome waitress!

The menu was actually very good. I think it's getting better over time - a nice mix of not-too-weirdly-adventurous but not shopworn. Excellent appetizers. The service was attentive and good humored. One felt that the staff actually was in a good mood and able to share it - whether that was the case or not.
We sat outside, so there was plenty of environmental noise. But that didn't make it so different from Paris, where it would be about as noisy, with worse air quality.

I am disappointed in Temple Bar, as I have read similarly from other regular patrons on Yelp. Three of the last four times I went there my food was underwhelming. What's up Temple Bar? This week I had the clam pizza/flatbread. As the server said, it was very garlicky, and that was great. But where were the clams? I saw a few small pieces of grey, but they had no taste at all, and were barely present. Tasty cheese and garlic, but not what I would call "white clam pizza" as the menu does. Very disappointing. I had the field green salad with blue cheese, pear, etc. Drowned in salad dressing, so much that the greens were all wilted. Or were they wilted before the dressing? I don't know, but not good. Pear had no flavor. My tablemates: 1) very underwhelmed by the mussels, which both she and I have had an enjoyed in the past; 2) & 3) had the white bean burger and they said they were great , although one of them either got a chunk of chili powder or a hot pepper and suffered from a burning mouth. We all tasted the burger after that, found no overspicing, so we don't know what her mouthful contained, but she had two glasses of beverage to calm the burning before trusting us to return to her burger. And then she said it was surprisingly very good. So what was in that burning mouthful? Whatever it was, it shouldn't have been there. Earlier visits this year had the same mixed results: one friend with a good meal and then disappointment by others. I really like the physical setting, esp. for a group of friends, but the food is just too unreliable, or rather, it's more not-good than good. And the prices do not fit the unreliable, mixed quality, so I have to give up on Temple Bar. Our party of four are all local folks who eat out in the area a lot, often with others, so our sour response to a past favorite will spread out into our circles I think. Pay attention to this TB.
Server Stephanie was great.

We had a friends and family get together, to celebrate my son's Acceptance to College, to just have a fun interesting meal, with creative menu choices. I've been to Temple Bar at least 12 times since it opened years ago. ~ thanks for another great time :-)

I hate to give this place such low points, but I see no other choice. I've been going to Temple Bar several times a month over the past few years, sometimes weekly. It has become my go to place, but lately the kitchen is so inconsistent I never know what's going to come out of it. Case in point.

I was there tonight. I order the Brassica Pizza. I've had it a dozen or more times, it was different than before. There were large chucks of broccoli stems that were not cooked well. The Brussell sprouts which are usually thinly sliced were large chunks also not fully cooked. I don't remember a time when there were enormous chucks of vegetables on this pizza.

When I've ordered the side dish of potatoes, sometimes they are covered in chives and garlic (personally I don't like) other times they are not. A few nights ago I order the Sausage Pizza, the amount of ground sausage on the pizza was gross and greasy, usually it's light on the sausage, well balanced and flavorful. The other night all I could taste was the clumps of sausage. And the heavy handedness of the Calabrian chiles made the pizza so hot it was barely edible.

This place used to be spot on. You'd go in and know exactly what you would get, but over the last few months, its a crap shoot.

If someone from the restaurant reads this, please fix the problems in your kitchen. Keep your recipes standardized, or if not, then change the menu! Different kitchen staff should not be modifying or doing their own things to the recipes!!!

The service has also recently gone down hill. My waitress tonight disappeared for 15-20 minutes at a time and the restaurant was not busy. After I ordered my pizza, I didn't see her for well near 30 minutes. When she was there she was friendly and attentive, but most of the time she was just gone.

We went to Temple Bar with friends. The food was very good. Tasty. Liked the fact it was not to noisy, like so many places these days.
The waitress was good but seemed like she was stretched with to many tables. She was attentive as she could be, but could have been better. I think she was to busy.
Overall a very nice evening. Good food and company.

My friend and I went on Monday eve of Memorial Day weekend. No problem with seating. Was disappointed with the squash appetizer but the cheeseburger was delicious. I chose the salad instead of french fries. I had to ask for additional dressing. I would go back again for the experience to compare.

Temple Bar is owned by the same company as Park, Russel House, and Grafton but I think Temple Bar is the best. They have delicious desserts that are creative. I hate normal boring American food, so Temple Bar is great for elevated American food at super reasonable prices. Cozy atmosphere for friends, romantic atmosphere for a date.

Third or fourth time here. Always something really good for my veg. husband with plenty of nice sides. I've had the steak frites twice and I think it's the best I've had. The steak is really tender and very, very flavorful and the fries are incredibly good. This most recent visit.. the service wasn't great and the cheese platter was not good - the bread was hard as a rock before we finished (and not enough) and the cheese was not properly ripened (IMO). Someone needs a lesson on cheese from Fromaggio's nearby. Otherwise, I think the menu is varied and well done.

Temple Bar has a very notable wine, cocktail, and beers list. We went for a date and had a great time; each ordered cocktails, had creative and fairly healthy entrees (suckling pig with sweet potatoes and a pumpkin porridge with farm fresh egg) as well as the DELICIOUS desserts: ice-cream sandwiches and apple francier - amazing!

First table we were given was literally FILTHY with dirt over the entire surface--they has opened the windows. Chairs were also filthy as I discovered later looking at the seat of my pants. Staff seemed reluctant to reseat us and defensive, almost belligerent [balding young guy with a beard]. Noice feel was far too loud, service was slow and hamburger was one of the worst I have ever had. Descriptions of items was not accurate, cheese plate was nice but far too small for price, beet salad was basically large pieces of rather tough beets--overall certainly not worth the price.

I have mixed feelings about this group of restaurants, including Temple Bar, Grafton St, Park, The Hourly, Russel House, etc. They are all owned by the same corporation, and while there is some differntiation among them, there is a certain cookie-cutter quality to them that aggravates me. And while they allow us to dine in Harvard Square without dropping a hundred bucks per person, which I appreciate, the quality is so mediocre that I really feel like they couldn't get away with charging half of their prices if they were located anywhere else.

I guess I will continue to patronize them when I am in the area taking in one of the diminishing number of evening entertainments available in our sadly diminished Harvard Square.
