We were there for Mothers day brunch. Everything came out cold. Fries were so cold, there's no way they were cooked that day. Service was good
Great outdoor seating and parking. Food was creative, a solid 8/10 and the selection of small plates made things interesting.
Temple Bar has been our “go to” for years. Maybe it was just the new menu items that aren’t worked out yet. The baby gem salad was tasteless. The steak frites was tough and salty and the fries were a bit tough as well. Maybe just an off night . . .
I've enjoyed many dinners at Temple Bar over the years. But for this last visit, although the service was very good, as usual, the food fell short for me. My mushroom pizza was overpowered by the gorgonzola cheese. The dressing on my baby gem salad was watery and the portion size was very small. My companion enjoyed the Bronzini. I will go back again because of my past experience, but will avoid the pizza and the salad.
Great prices and good brunch options- normal breakfast/lunch foods and some unique dishes as well. The place is pretty decent sized as well, so it had a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Despite its unassuming exterior, Temple Bar boasts surprisingly good food and excellent service. We split a bottle of wine, several appetizers, and a pizza, all of which were tasty and reasonably priced. We especially loved the kale and eggplant meatballs, which were cooked to perfection, and the flavorful mushroom and Gorgonzola pizza! We will definitely be back :)
Easter evening and we had a nice and quiet evening.
The new beet and pear salad was delicious, as were the mussels. We shared the chocolate fondue for dessert which came with assorted fruit and cookies for dipping!
Great service, we didn’t feel rushed.
Looove the warm beets! Our server was lovely, food was delicious, we had a great time.
Service was appalling. Sat for 15 minutes before we were greeted. The restaurant was next to empty aside from a party in the bar. Server didn’t acknowledge the wait and just asked “do you know what you want?” Food was great, but probably won’t return due to the service.
2nd time here and loved every moment. Charcuterie was an excellent start prior to our entrées. My friends had never been here prior but were ecstatic about the whole experience! We’ll be coming back often!
Food was great. Did get there earlyish on a Saturday evening so may have made a difference but service was attentive but not overly so ( just right). Great selection of beers/cocktails and spirits of all kinds. Great place for a drink but the food was really excellent: creative and very tasty. Would definitely come here again
Very good, as usual. I don't need 50 characters to say that.
Preconcert dinner. Convenient to Sanders theatre. Food is quite good and atmosphere is lovely.
Food and ambiance was perfect! Go to this place.
I have loved going to the Temple Bar for more than 7 years. This last visit was slightly disappointing because when my food arrived at the table it was not what I expected. On the menu it was called Thai Beef salad, so I expected greens and cooked beef. It turned out to be, first of all, very small, and there were no greens except for a (generous) sprinkling of cilantro, and the beef was not cooked. It was very tasty, but not what I expected. I feel it is a special enough dish for the wait staff to describe that it is not a traditional salad as a heads-up. The waitperson did right by me and gave me a free side-order.
I and my family will be back.
Had a nice casual dinner before going across the street for a show at the Lizard Lounge.
The atmosphere, mixed drinks, appetizers, and main courses were amazing and the service was wonderful. The only thing holding back five stars was the dessert, we ordered one of each option for the table and none were very good.
This place is just amazing. We went for a brunch and we loved it. Good place and good price.
Dustin was fantastic! We all really enjoyed the meal, especially the bread pudding. Amazing! The wine was wonderful and the old fashioned drinks were extraordinary. I’ve already recommended it to co-workers.
The food selection is somewhat limited, but there were different types of cuisine to choose from. The cocktails were solid and my pizza was good. I liked the decor. Overall it’s a solid option for date night.
Great service, super nice ambiance. It was pretty full but never got too loud. The waiter was great - attentive and polite. The price is good for the quality and quantity of food you get. Good cocktail menu, good beer selection.
Had a great experience. Enjoyed the drinks and the food was really good. Loved the fries!
Terrific meal and superb service. Everything--cocktails, apps, wine, salads, main courses--were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Would definitely recommend for any occasion. Very low-key, unstuffy atmosphere but amazingly high-caliber food.
It was nice. The staff was super pleasant. Food was good but menu didn’t have enough healthy choices for me.
I would try it again. But not for brunch as we did.
Delicious and creative food in a cozy but busy space.
Temple Bar is our go-to neighborhood restaurant. We go for margaritas regularly and add the fries and the tuna poke for a yummy and comforting evening.
We brought new friends who recently moved to Newton from New Jersey, and Temple Bar was just the right place! It was a Saturday night, and thus somewht noisy, but both the food and service were excellent. And, thanks for changing your menu every now and then, and adding small plates!
The atmosphere is nice and we liked the menu, but the food was mediocre and the service was poor. There are much better options in the area.
Definitely one of our favorite restaurants! Never disappointed... awesome food, great service and fun cocktails!
Good food, reasonable prices for the market and great service.
One of my favorite local restaurants for years! Romantic but also good for groups, and the food is excellent. Lovely ambiance, good service, cozy tables.
Nice selection, well prepared and presented. Very nice wait staff.
Had a very nice Sunday brunch at Temple bar. Food was great & service was excellent. I wish we had more restaurants like this in the Boston area-good food, casual & friendly atmosphere but not expensive.
Very nice meal overall, we had to wait a bit to get the waitress’s attention but then once we were on her radar, everything went smoothly. Dishes were well prepared, very tasty and portion sizes are reasonable. The booths are very comfortable. Noise level can be a bit high at times, something to keep in mind if one member of your party has a hearing impairment. I would definitely return. This is probably my 5th or 6 th time at Temple and I was not disappointed.
We loved Jan! She was so kind and fun. The food was incredible, service was great, and we are definitely coming back!
Fish (ATLANTIC HALIBUT $25, Fregola, Citrus-Braised Endive, Salsify, Walnut) was really boring and way too expensive; drink was way too sweet, which I could not expect from the description (HIBISCUS SPRITZ $11 St. George California Citrus Vodka, Hibiscus, Aperol, Grapefruit); dessert (chocolate fondue) was ok, but not special. One of our favorite bars in the past. Not worth to go there again.
Everything was good , nothing special but very nice
Very good fresh food. Great wine list with very nice service
This is our go-to neighborhood restaurants and it always fits the bill.
Food was just meh...
