Very good fresh food. Great wine list with very nice service
This is our go-to neighborhood restaurants and it always fits the bill.
Food was just meh...
This was an excellent brunch discovery, the service was great and the food was excellent. Would totally recommend it!
Dined here for NYE dinner. Service was good and cocktails nice, however the food wasn't great. I ordered the burrata as the appetizer and aside from a few drizzles of honey and fennel, it was essentially just a ball of cheese. I would have appreciated a few toast points at the very least. I also ordered the lamb, which was presented beautifully, however did not taste great. The vegetables were artfully plated but were under cooked (think still crunchy carrots) and completely unseasoned. I would not order this dish again. My partners food however, the burger, was fantastic so maybe I ordered incorrectly. This location did not live up to my experiences at their other restaurants (russell house and park).
I'll be back to give it another shot as the bar area was very inviting.
An amazing New Years experience!
Delightful server Lucy N. Superb service very knowledgeable explaining food options.
Ricotta doughnuts & avocado toast superb!! Bloody Marys’ were perfect. Kevin was a good server
Temple Bar has always been a favorite for me and my husband. We start out with just the two of us and now our friends also love going here with us. Makes for a great double (or triple!) date spot. Would give it 5 stars, but the cocktails are not always consistently good. My friend ordered the seasons "Mele Kalikimaka" drink and it was terrible - said the only thing he could taste was ginger beer. And the "Grin Without a Cat" has been a standing cocktail on their menu that we don't care for. My husband keeps forgetting and accidentally ordering it, regretting it each time.
Food here is great though. I always get the Colorado Lamb which has more of a fall/winter dish feel to it, but I'm so glad they make it year round. They do change up the vegetables used in it so that it's somewhat seasonal. Another reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the delicata squash that was used in my lamb dish this past visit was not good (and it's a favorite of mine), and the carrots could have been cooked longer. These are all just small complaints. We will certainly continue to come back!
Great meal. Hidden gem.
Will return again (and will spread the word).
Unlike prior visit the chicken on the chicken sandwich was over-cooked and dry. The bread in the basket was a little stale. The draught beer choices are thoughtful. The server, Megan I think, was excellent.
Being huge fans of Park Resturaunt, we were expecting the same with Temple Bar. From the service to our meals, things were just “ok”. Food was good (came out fast and entree presentation was beautiful) but nothing blew us away. With all the other resturaunts to choose in the area, not sure if we will be back!
The menu was not extensive, which is fine... but you kind of expect them to do it well. While the calamari's flavor profile was good, it was SATURATED in grease to the point where it was a little unpleasant. Beet salad was good. Had the white bean burger which was just meh... sounded so much better in print than it tasted. Nothing was horrible, but nothing blew me away either. With so many options... not really on the top of my list to return. Ambiance is very nice, though.
Our food was good but our server was awful. Hovered while we were talking then walked by me with no drink for 5 times. Couldn’t run the card right on the bill. Didn’t know information about the entrees, wine or desserts. He literally interrupted every conversation we were having but then we had to work to get his attention. Not my favorite.
As a frequent patron of the restaurant, I have enjoyed many good meals. However, the recent revision of the Brunch menu has left a lot to be desired. For one thing, the choice is rather skimpy and, with the elimination of the fruit and pancakes, among other dishes offered in the past makes for an unsatisfactory brunch experience. Hope for an upgraded Brunch menu soon.
Excellent. I go almost every Saturday. I always eat the French Toast. Only negative--how can a reataurant be "out of the French Toast" by 10:45?
Lovely service, good drinks, knowledgeable about menu. Accommodating about allergies
Very good Thanksgiving dinner
The service was very attentive and very good . Every one enjoyed what they ordered many great entree options for every one we didn’t have to eat turkey :) the ambience was warm and welcoming and easy for family conversation . Will definitely go back for not only thanksgiving but any other special holiday
First time and pleasantly surprised. Food was very good. Lamb dish portion was a bit light. Wait staff was excellent and friendly. Will definitely return.
Solid last minute place in between harvard and porter. Draft cocktails and apps were mostly very good. Very accommodating, great server. (Angie)
Great steak frite. Lovely cocktails. Salad was a surprisingly small portion, but delicious.
Surprisingly good. For a casual spot near porter square, we had an excellent meal more in line with a fine dining experience! Beet and calamari appetizers were unique and both the salmon and lamb entrees were excellent
We used to live up the street about 5 years ago and Temple bar was our go to brunch spot. Have sinced moved but when I had a flight to Boston Sunday I thought let’s go get brunch for old time sake. Wish we hadn’t gone out of the way. The food was terrible and so was the service. We ordered donuts that came out raw in the middle, no one came to see if they were ok and we tried to get a persons attention but no where to be found. They were not busy with another table (we were one of three tables in the restaurant). Then I asked to get a English muffin with jam. Got the English. No jam. No butter. And when they finally came back it was stone cold and I asked again. Then they brought a packette of grape jelly. Saw the manager and asked if they only have grape jelly and she said yep and walked away. No explaination, no sorry, no how is the rest of your meal. She was too bothered to even talk to us. If the staff if going to act bothered to help you there is no wonder is was empty. We used to really enjoy going there. But sadly I don’t think we will ever return.
Amazing food. So tasty and fresh, great value. Brought family members here and atmosphere and service was perfect.
Atmosphere and service were very nice. Disappointed in the food--rather uneven. Vegetarian bean burger and other veggie main dishes greasy and flavorless. Huge servings of fries with the mains kind of overpowered the plates. Would have preferred healthier alternatives. The pizza and starters were good.
The new menu items are terrific, and a welcome addition an already good menu.
Best dinner we had while in town for the Head of the Charles Regatta.
Great service. We needed quick and all came out as needed and was delicious
Th service was wonderful and the waitstaff very attentive. I ordered the pork and at least 1/4 of it was too fatty to eat.
Really had a great meal. Have walked by for ages but never gone in. Food was excellent, and good sized portions. Cocktails and wine great too. Quiet enough that you can hear yourself talk. Comfy atmosphere. Staff lovely and attentive.
Creative menu from lamb, to a whole grilled fish, to a lamb not-quite-stew the food was very out of the ordinary. We received friendly service from the wait staff, too. This is a solid neighborhood meal spot.
Food is good, competent but not great or memorable, same with their cocktails. Very noisy (not a place for thoughtful conversation) and dim ( we used our phones to read menu). Our waiter was wonderful when she was there, personable, knowledgeable, helpful, responsive but disappeared a few times when we wanted something additional but we all know that timing all your tables on a busy Friday night is not easy!
With so many resturants to choose from in Cambridge/Somerville and Boston proper we wouldn’t reccomend TB nor do we plan to return, for us there just wasn't anything worth returning for...
Where is the food? My salmon dish had 2 ounces of Salmon for $26?
This used to be our go-to for a medium-price night out, but no longer, I'm afraid. The service gets a "good" only because it was very friendly (which of course I appreciated), but overall it was inept - especially the delivery of our wine when we were all already halfway through our main courses. My husband especially didn't like his meal, saying the fish wasn't good quality and it was under-seasoned. (My vegetarian dish was better.) Our four guests didn't say one word about the food, which was not a good sign. A fews years back both the prices and food were better. Neither is terrible, just... meh. We will likely go for drinks and nibbles in the future, but not full dinner.
Terrific Food. The four of all had excellent meals from the two different fish entrees to the Colorado lamb. Wonderful Salad. Highly recommended
I come here at least every two weeks for brunch and dinner. I even get take out. This week we went with a toddler. The waitstaff was incredibly accommodating!!
All my family members from New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Baltimore rave about it. So do all of my friends!
Waited 35 minutes for service after being seated. Would've waited more if I hadn't asked a server whether our table was assigned a server. We apparently hadn't been. The woman I flagged down then served us--and she was great. The food, though, wasn't worth the price (I don't mind paying for good food).
Service was a little slow but the food was wonderful!
Mussels were supberb! Steak Frites always the "best I have ever had"
Servicec always warm, welcoming and unobtrusive!!!
