Perfect for a date night. You will not regret your decision.
I had an enjoyable brunch, the highlight being the soufflé pancakes, and the service was excellent.
The restaurant is just beautiful. The food is exquisitely prepared and plated. And the service was impeccable. Just the best. And we felt the prices were perfect if not lower than we expected.
Excellent food. Friendly & helpful wait staff. Unique architecture. A cool bustling spot.
Great service, great food, a must when in Charleston
Service is outstanding. Food was good to great depends on what you have. Special touch at the end of the meal is a nice surprise, I won’t spoil it for the next person. Definitely worth trying!
Maureen was a wonderful waitperson and always on time with more water and on point with suggestions. Food was stunning and delicious.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Was the perfect place to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary.
The special for restaurant week was excellent and an excellent value. Appetizer, main course, and dessert for $40.
The only minor complain would be that the size of the appetizer portion (octopus) was smaller than I would have liked. Aside form that the meal was excellent.
without a doubt, I would go back.
We ate at the Tempest during Restaurant Week & ordered from the special menu. Each dish was innovative, tasty & beautifully presented. The fish was of the freshest quality. The decor was in keeping with the nautical theme. We started with smoked Octopus and a watermelon sea bass crudo for appetizers. I had a Red Snapper entree and the Hummingbird Cake for dessert.
Best meal of my life!!
Really great atmosphere, sat outside for my first visit. The service was excellent (thank you Sydney!), cocktails were delicious and food was fabulous. At the end of the meal we loved when our server brought us the bill tucked inside a dog-eared copy of Shakespeare's The Tempest. The quick overview of the building and it's history was fantastic as were the complementary rose and cigar we received plus 2 sips of some pretty fabulous cognac. It's the little extra things that made the experience so outstanding. While we dined during restaurant week of the special pre fix menu, we will go again to try out brunch as well as the full dinner menu.
Beautiful restaurant! The restaurant week choices were all outstanding! The Swordfish poached in Duck Fat was to die for. The grouper was great too. The octopus appetizer was so tasty and tender. Service was very good and they were very busy . The Cognac and a rose for ladies and Cognac with a cigar for men was a very nice after dinner surprise! The copy of Shakespeare’s Tempest with your check was really neat too! Lots of attention to detail! Will be back!
The food was amazingly delicious! Three courses for $40 was competitively priced. However, the entrees came with NO sides, and all the sides were $12. So my final bill, no drinks, with taxes and 20% gratuity, was slightly over $70. Would I visit Tempest again? Of course…both the service and food were THAT good!
The food and the service was impeccable we will be back thanks so much!
Great service ! Wonderful food ! Nice atmosphere! Excellent wine list ! It was all perfect ! We loved it and will definitely be back!
Declan was wonderful!!
The food was good (at best) but the portion size is small for the price.
Did Restaurant week menu. Outstanding food and service!!!
Great service during restaurant week. Food was more than unusual. A bit odd actually. I went with friends and thought we'd try out something new. I didn't expect every item to be a bit odd in preparation. Not a fan of going back but glad we tried it.
Upstairs was very noisy and lacking in ambiance, especially when compared to the downstairs space. But the food was lovely and the service was great.
We went to Tempest for Restaurant week. We arrived at 7-00pm, drinks took a while to arrive, once we had ordered our Restaurant week meal, we only started eating at 9-00pm. The food was amazing but so little food, it was shocking, I would rather have ordered from the main menu, it would have been more value. Our waiter was very good.
I would not go to any restaurants during Restaurant week again because of this experience.
First visit to Charleston. The experience at Tempest was very pleasant.
Service was outstanding and food was beautifully presented with taste to match.
Fantastic experience, enjoyed the food, ambiance & the service.
Went for brunch. OMG pancakes!
Overall our party had an extremely pleasant dining experience at Tempest! Unique menu, excellent service, flavorful food, great atmosphere. We were delighted to find that the upstairs (where we were sat) dining area was very well air conditioned, and the noise level was relatively low. I would highly recommend this spot and hope to return next time we are visiting Charleston. The Fifth Street restaurant group never disappoints!
Beautiful restaurant. Great brunch location, best pancakes I have ever had!
The food was delicious and Dwayne was the fastest speaking server this side of the planet!
Great service with excellent suggestions. Food was very good and very filling. Ambiance amazing!
We'll be back!
Food was excellent as always. Really liked our waiter. Had a great experience.
The food was ok nothing more. We did Restaurant week menu but really not much different then regular Menu and such a small choice on regular. We both had different fish and neither were very hot husbands Grouper was so much better than my Snapper. Rice pudding dessert was maybe two tablespoons and the worst rice pudding I have ever had tiny Macaron on top was good. Waiter was very nice.
This place is absolutely amazing, from the beginning through the end. Great people, great service, awesome food, and wonderful ambiance. This is a must do in Charleston!! Book in advance.
Loved it all. Food was delicious especially the gelato. Wait staff was the best.
We had a fantastic dinning experience at tempest! The food was phenomenal and the service was outstanding. I really enjoyed their pride in the history of the building
Visited Tempest for Restaurant week and was overall very happy with the experience,
The salad, snapper and hummingbird cake I ordered were all delicious. My husband enjoyed the octopus appetizer, but was just a bit disappointed that his ribeye steak was not as tender as he might have liked. He was also sorry there was no chocolate option among the dessert choices, so he settled for the rice pudding.
There were a number of wonderful bonuses in having Dwayne as our charming, fun server, as well as the cigar, rose and touch of Cognac for a complimentary finale.
It was a most enjoyable evening.
Our experience at Tempest was unbelievable from start to finish. The service was impeccable and the food was out of this world. I would recommend this restaurant to friends, family or colleagues 10/10 times.
The decor was outstanding. Service was efficient and timely. Portions were very small ( server recommended an additional selection) but delicious and presentation was appropriate. Lunch menu was limited. The Iris cocktail was amazing!
We went for Restaurant Week 2021!
The food was absolutely incredible, the free bread was a lovely added touch.
Alexis was such a kind server and you could see she was a genuinely happy person.
We felt so cared for and attended to. Great experience and can’t wait to go back.
Great experience. Upbeat atmosphere and ambiance only exceeded by the quality of the food.
