Great night out!
Food was amazing as was the service.
From the moment you enter Tempest glance u at the ceiling... you will awed by the local artist created a 100,000 stained glass piece of work.. menu showcasing a fine seafood prepared to give the palate diverse flavors. The bread is unquie ...(won't share so you be surprised ).... Ambiance., food and impeccable service.
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at Tempest .We decided to go with several small plates instead of entrees. My favorite was the octopus. my husband liked the risotto. It was all yummy! The freshly baked bread was amazing. Service was excellent. The only thing that could have been better was the rather lackluster dessert. I would love to go back.
Best meal of my life!
Favorite restaurant in Charleston for our date nights...everything is prepared perfect. Grouper is the go-to and the tuna bombs. Great atmosphere and the staff are the most genuine out of any restaurant I've been to
We came for restaurant week and ate outside. Very comfortable, wonderful food and great service. Will definitely visit again.
Delicious restaurant week meal! Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Our meal was divine!
We loved it! Great food, service, and ambience. Restaurant Week 2021 was a success!
Tempest was divine! The food, atmosphere and service was excellent! Our party was there for brunch and could not be more happy with every single dish that was ordered. If you love seafood, like myself, you will love Tempest. Our table ordered the raw oysters, tuna bombs, eggs benedict, french toast, omelet and steak and eggs and everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything. Compliments to the chef!
It’s extremely LOUD. From the moment we walked in, a lady a table yelled F* Y* as part of her conversation. The loudness was all night long, so def don’t come if you’re in the mood for a fine dining, intimidate experience. We were there for a little over 2 hours and that was just by waiting for food/drinks for 2 people. We’ve been to just about every fine restaurant in CHS and the food at tempest was below average. We ordered the tuna bombs (7/10), octopus (3/10), grouper (6/10) and the snapper (2/10). Both were unseasoned and bland, but the snapper was worse. It was a base of a unseasoned veggies topped with unseasoned, dry fish, topped with crispy onion, and then fresh chives. Every single meal had a strong Asian taste (hoisin sauce/fish oil) but especially the side of grits. Overall, the food was extremely unseasoned, very small portions (we had to stop at Wendy’s after for my husband), and not worth the hype. If you’re a local, I’d recommend Husk, Macintosh, or Oak. But Fig is another great option that serves an out-of-this-world fish (if you’re lucky that’s it’s on the menu)!!
Delicious food, fantastic service...this downtown Charleston restaurant is the perfect atmosphere for celebrating an important day, meeting up with friends for dinner or enjoying a nice dinner for two.
The best meal I’ve ever had!!
We loved our time at Tempest. The food was exceptional as always and the service was great! Thanks for a lovely brunch on my birthday!
Second time we have been there and again excellent food
Superb food and experience... our wait time with a reservation was extended. It was super busy and restaurant week.
We ate outside on the porch with heaters. It was perfect. Two of our dinners were under cooked, however, what we ate was delicious. The waiters offered a substitute entree but everyone else was nearly done. Management came, apologized, let the chef know and at the end they wound up taking the two dinners off our bill. Great customer service. It was restaurant week and at the end of dinner the women got roses, all got a complimentary cognac and cigars. We would definitely go back. Service was superb.
Fantastic seafood menu and restaurant week offerings. Great hospitality.
I wanted to love this-I am a Top Chef super fan and really like the chef, however I was underwhelmed. The Tuna bombs and bread/butter were my favorite-they were delicious! The rest was good but not great. We did go during restaurant week, so maybe that had something to do with it. I was surprised at how crowded it was in regards to Covid. The servers were masked of course and the service was attentive but the place was packed and tables not spaced out.
Excellent experience, attentive service and very good food!
The clam risotto was wonderful along with the mussels. The flounder was okay. This restaurant states seafood but it's mostly fish plates. Desserts were great! Service was good, knowledgeable servers but they changed our servers during dinner. The restaurant was beautiful with great ambiance. Overall we enjoyed and will likely return for a future visit.
Too expensive for portion size
The food taste and presentation were excellent. They didn’t seem to be following the seating restrictions. Every table was seated in a small restaurant upstairs and downstairs. Very disappointing and uncomfortable.
Fantastic service and presentation of food. Wonderful for all seafood fans looking for high quality fish with a local signature.
Excellent new restaurant receiving much deserved praise and accolades. Everything was delicious and the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu from the wine list to the ingredients used in dishes. A must for Charleston locals and visitors alike.
My friend and I went for Restaurant Week. The menu choices were amazing, and the food and service were on point. The complimentary cognac, cigars and roses added the perfect finishing touch for a fabulous evening and experience.
The overall experience is great! The food is very well prepared and served; the combinations of protein, sauces and sides are somewhat too diverse and over-the-top. The restaurant glass mosaic is beautiful. The cocktails are great!
Great food, good service (grumpy hostess aside) - while the cognac story was nice I would drop the cost as I have no interest in cognac - seemed hokie.
Amazing! I was blown away by the food options and the staff was immaculate. Everyone was very professional and well mannered. They weren't too serious and were able to answer questions with ease. The food was incredible, all of the flavors really blew me away. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know!
What a wonderful experience! Celebrating my 60 th birthday and it was great. Food was excellent especially tuna bombs and Spanish octopus. Service was excellent. Highly recommend. Enjoy!
Outstanding combinations of flavors. Jules provided perfect service. We really enjoyed our evening!
The food was excellent, the setting spectacular and the service was friendly and helpful. Definitely will return on first opportunity. The acknowledgement of best new restaurant in the country is well deserved!
Relatively new place, but they had really good service, beautiful and tasty dishes, and give you some nice accoutrements
Extremely attractive decor. Excellent bar menu. Excellent and prompt service. Delicious food. The noise level was a bit disruptive at times. I will definitely return.
Our server, Rich, was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the food, dishes and local purveyors. And, he shared recommendations about other great restaurants, food shops for us to try and things for us to see. Except for the tea, which came in a small pot, was weak and served with a large cup, the food and the entire experience was excellent and very memorable. We’d highly recommend Tempest. Thank you for making the occasion very special!
Food was great. Service was exceptional!
All thing’s considered, it was New Year’s Eve... we had reservations, but couldn’t sit for another 20 mins past our reservation time. They only had a set menu, but ran out of items in the menu, not cool! Anthony, our server was really sweet and really tried to “save the day” the cognac, cigar and rose tradition, was AWESOME.
We came on New Years Eve so there was a fixed menu, I think they would have been better off staying with the regular menu and predicted a busy night. Our food was not cooked to order, and while the service and amenities were very good, there was clear pressure to turn the table in under 2 hours. The prices are reasonable, but when you throw in your add-on's, a table for 4 can run up to $700.00 quite quickly.
Please don’t do it. I ignored the negative reviews because I felt like some people are always negative. I have serious buyers remorse. We spent nearly $600 dollars on a dinner for 4 and I would describe it as “fine.” Nothing was bad, other than the grouper that was cold, but everything was just fine. That’s not a $600 dinner. The bread everyone talked about- there was none. We asked for crackers with the oysters- they have none. Drinks came out after the appetizer. We had tow people who didn’t have alcohol. They were charged for refills of coke. We sat outside because of Covid abs had to smell cigarette smoke from the street. Just don’t do it. I wanted it to be awesome. Just don’t do it.
We had lovely New Years Eve Dinner. Our waiter was wonderful.
EXCELLENT. What a fun night! Great food, service, beautiful space. Kate our server was so fun and helpful with deciding what to eat. A really great meal.
