Exceptional service and food. Went above and beyond our expectations and added towards our celebration of a special occasion
Not that impressive compared to the prices but it was still enjoyable. The umami tuna bombs are a must!
Bread with Seaweed is to die for. Tuna bombs did not disappoint. The grouper was the best I’ve ever had prepared. Cigars and cognac at the end is a nice touch. Plenty of service staff
Great staff - will be back
This is a 3 month old restaurant that we kept hearing about during our trip to Charleston. We made a reservation & found it to be very busy. A reservation is highly recommended! Even after getting there on time, which is conveniently located, we had to wait, as it was so busy. We got a spot at the bar & got drinks. We were then shown to a table upstairs. The bar area is actually the coolest vibe with the painted ceiling to look like sea life. Our waiter was excellent. He described dishes, and was always there when we needed him. He made great suggestions. The menu is very creative seafood dishes mainly. I wouldn't order anything except seafood, as it was all amazing. We had the tuna bomb app, the bread which tasted like the sea...very interesting & delicious. We had red snapper (delicious), and swordfish. I actually preferred the snapper. The best touch was at the end of the meal when the waiter presented us a tray with a rose & cigars in the tradition of Shakespeare (The Tempest), and cognac. Outstanding restaurant!
Excellent option amid all the places to get seafood in Charleston! Service is top notch and a great venue to explore in downtown.
Not worth the price. Super loud. Uneven service and food. Staff don’t know how to wear masks properly. If you’re willing to spend $200 for two, go the Ordinary or FIG or Husk instead.
1st time visitors....service was good, food was good.
Excellent service. Beautiful restaurant. Menu descriptions didn’t match the food prepared. They seem to be trying to hard with their menu. Food was just ok- we ordered the salad, tuna bombs, octopus, snapper & champagne sponge cake, two drinks each. That came with a $200 bill. Food wasn’t worth that expense. Too many really good places in Charleston. Restaurant was packed though so people must be enjoying.
We had an amazing brunch- the deconstructed lobster roll and the crab Benedict and it was divine! The location was perfect and outdoor dining was the best spot in the beautiful Charleston weather. The whole experience was complete with the excellent service we had from Haley- she went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was perfect!
What an experience! My mom was in town and we wanted to have a special dinner. We split 3 small plates and loved it, especially the octopus and wild mushroom dish. The service was impeccable and ambiance perfect.
Such a treat - from the amazing cocktails, small plates, local oysters, redfish was amazing and the swordfish had the best sauce with it to the dessert with honeycomb - my mouth is still watering!!!!
Lovely brunch on the outside patio with under cover seating. Service was a little slow but we were in no rush.
We were on weekend trip to CHS for first time in a few years and wanted to try something new. Tempest caught my eye on Open Table, so we made reservation and selected outdoor dining. Easy to find on Market St near Bay St and has sidewalk tables as well as outdoor covered patio. The hostess greeted us at entryway and the mosaic stained glass on ceiling catches your attention-beautiful and unique. We were seated on patio and it was chilly evening but the heat lamps kept us very comfortable. The menu as expected features high end seafood with an upscale option of beef or chicken also. We shared the risotto & clam appetizer first which was excellent. They also had a limited but good wine list-found a Piedmont region Barberesco that was delicious at fair price. I had Swordfish entree and my wife opted for braised romaine salad and tuna appetizer small plate. We enjoyed all dishes and recommend highly based on our experience.
We were pleasantly surprised to next be given a complimentary tray that includes cigars, cognac, and a rose. We splurged and shared a peach dessert on its’ last day on the seasonal menu. Our server and hostess were both knowledgeable and genuine. The evening felt as if we were on a special occasion and we will be back to Tempest
Food was amazing and we loved everything about this restaurant. A little surprising is the fact that there are no salads on the menu. We really enjoyed our evening at Tempest
We made a few changes to our reservation & staff was super accommodating. The food was amazing! Local food was fresh, creative & presented in the best possible way.
Food was AWESOME, i would def recommend dinner or brunch, service was 5 star!!!
We had a great time! Good cocktails and small bites for great value. I believe our waiter’s name was Rich and he was so great! He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
Food was well above expectation for the Charleston touristy sector - particularly the charred high heat oven for delicious flavor on all seafood items.
The cognac and cigars at the end while nice was a bit down market and reminded us how touristy the place really was... oh well
Celebrating my daughters 30th bday :). Great waiter and delicious food. Very fun vibe!
Rich our server was fantastic. knowledgeable and courteous. Chloe's drinks were amazing. Host team was attentive and upbeat. Overall a great birthday celebration. Highly recommend the grilled octopus as well as the cauliflower and snapper. We will certainly come back. A new top spot in downtown !
We were very happy overall with the restaurant. The service was incredable and the food was good. We got the seafood tower, I just didnt think the value was there for what we paid.
Will give it another try........they have only been open about 2 months so maybe working out the kinks here. Again.
King crab legs were described from server as whole but served picked?? Not a pleasant surprise.
This was our second trip to Charleston in the past few months and we chose to eat at Tempest for the second time as we LOVE this restaurant! The food is artful on the plate and extraordinary on the palate - cudos to Chef Lee for making each dish an epicurean delight! We chose the front porch this time as the weather was lovely and it was fun to watch the horse drawn carriage rides going past on the brick street. Our server, Caroline, was knowledgeable and engaging, making for another memorable evening at our new favorite spot in the heart of Charleston!
First, but not the last, time there. Exceeded our expectations in every way. We were seated upstairs which is quiet., dining downstairs (although amazing with stained glass ceilings) is a bit louder but will try it anyway just for the beauty of it!
We went to Tempest to enjoy an experience of great food delivered in a welcoming setting with attentive service. We got that and more. We were celebrating our 28th Wedding Anniversary; and end to end, we received a outstanding epicurean delight.
The service, food and location was phenomenal. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. I’ve been to many Charleston restaurants over the past decade and none have ever brought complimentary cigars, cognac, a single red rose and the check presented inside a book for which the restaurant is named. How neat! My flounder was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside with an incredibly tasty fingerling potato sauce. My husband’s grouper was tender yet seared on the outside with a balsamic reduction and sweet corn kernels presenting a fabulous balance in flavors. Our server Chase was attentive, personable and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!
Don’t miss this place! The food is extraordinary!
We loved our visit. The second tier seating was perfect. Food was creative and delicious. Wes was our server and he was fantastic. Cannot wait to come back.
It was a very special birthday dinner thanks to the excellent service and food. Nice touches included champagne and roses
The fish dishes were outstanding! It was our anniversary. They gave us a wine tasting flight. Love the stain glass ceiling.
We had a wonderful dining experience for our First Wedding Anniversary at Tempest. The food was incredible as was the service, wine and ambiance in the second floor dining room. The evening ended with cigars, cognac and roses with Braised Peaches. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was phenomenal and the customer service was incredible! Highly recommend!
Awesome! Great oysters and whole fish the best.
Great meal! Downstairs seating looked like better ambience, but overall didn’t take away from the experience.
Amazing from start to finish. Wanted to shake the Chef’s hand it was so good!
Food wasn't anything great or even passable for the clientele they are targeting.
Went in for brunch and it was phenomenal. We got the soufflé pancakes and steak and eggs. The two dishes were the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I recommend sitting on the patio if you can, overlooking the market it comes with great people watching.
Our service was great and the seafood was good also. However, the noice level was really bad. Tables on either side of us were literally yelling to communicate across to each other. So it was way rowdier than we expected. So if your looking for rowdy with good seafood go for it!
Our server was great. Knowledge of the menu and special requests for our ceviche were huge pluses. Overall experience was awesome. Definitely would recommend for a date night or special occasion.
