We waited an hour in between starter and main and when the main did come it was cold and raw. Maybe they were having a bad day.
Been before and liked Temper, this was a very different and disappointing experience. Kitchen was over wheelmen so servtec
Didn’t like the chosen table since we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday.. felt squeezed in there was too much noise. I was expecting a more private and intimate table. I also didn’t like one of the receptionist approach as she didn’t consider the occasion, she was very reluctant in giving us a better table, and she seemed upset with my requests. I think, as a regular customer,
I could have been better accommodated. Overall, it was a good experience, the food was excellent and the rest of the staff provided us with an exceptional customer service!
Food was incredible. Atmosphere was very nice and service was good although we did wait a while for our main meals.
The aged beef nachos are EVERYTHING. The goat carnitas are my favourite meat dish in the city think...that's saying a lot. I just wish it was either a teeny bit bigger as a portion or had more paratha with it. The staff are really helpful though so I bet if you asked for more paratha they'd oblige...
I guess i'm getting old because I find myself saying - it was a but too loud. I went to catch up with old friends and eat an ungodly amount of meat but we were definitely shouting at each other by the end. They play awesome music in there, but just a touch quieter would be ideal for my ageing sensibilities.
The food was less than average, very greasy and swimming in oil.
All the meat came diced even the steak?
Can’t see it lasting for long
The music can be a bit loud and the chatter a bit overwhelming but the food smells and tastes amazing which almost made it worth the visit. Again, it was a Friday night nearish to Christmas so maybe it is inevitable. I'll check it out again in the new year when it's quieter.
Having visited once before, my second visit was a little underwhelming. The service was way off - we had to ask several time for our drinks, our starter orders were taken incorrectly and there was no attempt at warmth or hospitality. The food was good - a little disappointed by the steak - but everything else was ok. Not sure I would return based on the attitude of the serving staff during this visit.
Great restaurant with excellent selection of food.
The service was slow for drinks but overall a great experience.
Awesome Christmas lunch with the team. Temper is always a great place to go for a boozy pre-Xmas afternoon with great food.
Waiter was no where, took him 15 to appear, took the order and vanished. Not polite or shown any interest on customers.
Starters were ok, meat was realy bad. Overcooked by a bored to death "chef", she even used the same tong to handle meat and fish! Totally unacceptable. She showed no respect to the process of grilling the meat or how she handled the food after that. All grilled items were put to plates and then she stacked the plates one on top of the other, with the food in them, for the waiter pick up, so my Tbone had an added flavour from the plate above...The meat was cold and totally not worth the money charged.
It is the 3rd and last time I visited Temper.
The show cooking idea is great but you have to have the right people working behind that show grill. You must hire chefs who have a better knowledge of grilling meat and food safety and hygiene but most of all to understand that they are the main "attraction" so they should at least look like they are happy with their job.
I am really sorry having to write such a bad critique but I really believe it is for the best of your restaurant.
Have to be meat eaters. It’s very atmospheric and cosy in winter. The steaks are pretty pricey but delicious.
We went on sunday and the food was average. We order 600gr beef and it was chewy and more fat then meat on the plate. The Brigadeiro cookie dessert was more on the uncooked side and there was almost no chocolate inside. Definitely overpriced for what it is! The lady's toilet was smells as much as train station's do. Staff service was ok and the ambience was fine.
I have to say the service was terrible just being there we seemed to me an inconvenience to the staff who over our lunch consisted of 5 to 6 different people serving us. Rubbish attitude overall and the Sunday roast although recommended in Time Out was terrible I got one slice of very fatty beef for £12! Past it’s prime.
Come for the excellent food and theatre of cooking in front of you, stay for the inattentive service where they'll leave you sitting at the counter and never come near you until you wave like a flipping lunatic. Sorry but you don't deserve the 'discretionary' service charge that you automatically add to the bill.
Food with lovely flavours, beautiful presentation. Great atmosphere.
Food was brilliant but our waitress was moody and rude!
Went for my wife’s birthday and she wasn’t asked how she’d like her steak cooked , when it arrived it was rare and she barely ate any, we left soon after and even the cloakroom staff seemed miserable as we left
Roast lamb was delicious. Perfect portion for two hungry diners. Sides were decent. Fluffy roast potatoes. Gravy was on the runny side. Would've loved more greens. Wine was excellent. Went down a treat.
Overall, not the greatest roast I've ever had, but a decent feed. Albeit on the pricier end. Couldn't fault the service though. And the vibe was cool.
- Waiter wasn't very warming
- Very loud music
- Starters arrived before starters and mains arrived while I was eating my starter
Quality has gone down severely. My husband and I have been here several times and the food is generally very good but the last few times we've gone to a few different locations it's gone from good to mediocre to bad. Tonight we went to the Soho location for our anniversary and we watched my salmon sit on the counter for over ten minutes until it was served. It was tough, overdone and full of bones. Even the tortillas were tough and chewy. They took it off the bill but to be honest, for ruining an entire evening that was not enough. His filet was underdone though we didn't bother to say as we already didn't want to make a fuss as it was. The man running the open fire was clearly stressed and not up to the task of running it. All in all, we've decided not to come back in the future and dedicate ourselves to the many restaurants in the area that are consistent.
2nd time we have visited and it did not disappoint! We could have stayed longer and kept ordering, but had to be somewhere else. Excellent spot for a group dinner!!
A superb dining experience. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and it was really nice to be able to see the chefs at work! The choice of food was excellent and the dishes we selected were fabulously cooked and very tasty. The service was great; attentive but not overly so. Finally, very good value for money. Definitely recommend!!
Delicious food and cocktails , well located in soho , friendly staff ... however the service isn’t great staff no attentive , you need to look for them .
Great evening - waiters where attentive and knowledgeable and food was awesome.
Cant wait to go back.
Tasty food, helpful waiters. Veg dishes and desserrs much better than meat. Very dark and dull ambience.
Overpriced for what it is.
Absolutely outstanding meal experience. Superb service, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive. Great food and the dining at the counter where you can watch the meals being prepared and chat with the chef made the meal that much more enjoyable. Highly recommended
Nice enough food and service but extremely overpriced for what it is. The portions were also small. Rather noisy. Pleasant evening but would not go again.
Really good sunday roast- very tasty- plenty to share- the family roasts could be described a little better to understand the concept a little easier, but the whole group remarked about how awesome the food was and really good value....
Although sitting at the counter is entertaining, if you are over 5ft11, you will crack your knees and not enjoy the evening...
Second time visit, really enjoyed it - food was great, excellent service and great atmosphere.
Absolutely a great experience! Temper Soho lived up to the hype. It’s very trendy and a foodies’ paradise all in one.
Delicious food, a new favourite in London for sure!
Booked a table, but was sat at the bar. Waiter was lovely, but staff on the door were a bit rude and didn’t help with coat. Food was good but very expensive for what it was.
I have been to Temper many times and always enjoy the food, ambience and setting. However, on this occasion the service was very slow, we also felt the portion sizes were small considering the price - we had to order over and above the recommendation by the waiter to feel full.
Not my best experience at Temper - Chicken wings were underdone and skin soggy. Constantly requesting drinks that didn’t come and it wasn’t even that busy. Vibe of a place understaffed which is a shame because their goat tacos are great and it was my 4th visit
Food was amazing, although the wait staff were a little slow with getting the bill and accepting payment, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I would recommend the goat, best meat on the menu.
Dinner for 2. I have read many awesome reviews on this place, especially regarding the quality of the meat cuts and the location.
The place and atmosphere was incredible but i was a bit disappointed about the quality of the food.
We had 2 tacos (goat and pork), very good but the flavour of the goat had somehow "contaminated" also the pork, so the flavour was mixed.
The same happened with the rump steak. I believe it might be due to the cooking process, maybe two different meat have been cooked too close to each others and the flavour got mixed, i am just guessing.
Also, the rump stake was not as flavourful and tender as expected, but i must admit that i ordered a medium cooking even though the waiter has suggested medium rare and that might have been not the right choice.
Staff was super nice and very knowleadgeable, giving all the support needed.
I would definitely reccomend this restaurant, even just for the incredible atmosphere, and i will probably have a second time as well, i am sure this place has much more to offer.
Thank you for your time and kind regards
Had a great time at temper - food was excellent and service was spot on. Definitely recommend going here
