Food was good, but the service was slow and sporadic. People dining together would get the same rolls separately with a wait in between. Service on the evening I visited was poor: order not taken correctly, items forgotten but still charged on the bill, a general level of surliness... The restaurant was very quiet (6~10 diners) but we were still squashed onto one bar with one overworked, slow chef...
I can believe that there have been and will be more vibrant and on-the-ball experiences, but based on my visit it's a 'medium' in a city full of excellence.
The food was tasty, and Joe (one of the staff) was really nice and accommodating. The cons: It appeared extremely understaffed. I made a reservation and was seated 25 minutes after my reservation time, and didn't eat until 1 hour or so after my reservation time. The food itself had great flavor - but also was small - and you'll probably be hungry after buying $30 worth of small rolls. I likely will not return due to the wait time.
Originally I had a 1:00 reservation, due to an issue they had, they asked me if I could return at 2. I had a meeting, and we were already running late so we waited.
No regrets, the sushi was rolls were very good, fish was fresh and the Mgmt gave us a free appetizers and a drink. I will be returning here, maybe check them out for dinner.
Wonderful rolls and great crispy rice apps. The “Hangry” dinner was quite a lot of food. But prepared at a relaxed pace, it was easy to eat every morsel. It was my first time at this restaurant, but Joe at the bar made me feel right at home. His menu and sake suggestions were spot on.
love the guy at the front. helped clean up a reservation back up and was very accommodating. food is great
10/10 would recommend! The servers were great and super nice and personable and the food just topped it all off. Definitely would suggest the wagu roll!
amazing handrolls in east village!!
will definitely be back for more
staff is great and food is even better!!
This place became my new favorite spot for Japanese food.
Hand rolls were amazing as well as the appetizers.
Friendly staff and super quick Service, If you want an actual taste of Japan go to Temakase, I will definitely be back for more!
Fish was fresh and delicious!
Great food! Try the yellowtail jalapeño it’s amazing!
So yummy!! Incredibly fresh fish and very chill vibe
Incredible quality and service, loved it!
I did the “hangry” set menu option here and I was absolutely blown away. Each roll was scrumptious. Very friendly staff. Definitely one of the hidden gems on the lower east side!
Amazing customer service , food came fast and quickly. Quality and taste was immaculate. An experience one of a kind would deff visit again for the experience and the food.
The sushi here was amazing! The service was even better. The sushi was extremely fresh and well presented. Everything was superb. The spicy tuna crispy rice is also a must try when you come here.
Don’t bother making reservations. They overbook and we still waited an hour after the reservation to be seated. And then they have 1 person making rolls on each side. Took about an hour to get 6 rolls as they thought we were done and stopped making the remainder of our rolls.
Meh skip it
Made a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. Sushi rolls were ok but was not told which type of rolls were being served. A few menu items were not available and the server asked us to finish up quickly cause they had a long wait while we still had drinks to finish up.
we made reservations but were still seated 15+minutes after our allocated window. we had to waive down the staff to order, get water, and get our check. it was also clear the staff was unfamiliar with the menu.
:D great as always thanks
Great as always
Great as always
Some of the best sushi I have ever had! The rolls r amazing The fish is sooo fresh Crispy rice is just perfect crisp Very busy and loud and small restaurant but great flavor! The truffle in blue crab hand roll is unbelievable
Great as always
Excellent as always
no flexibility on the menu, not kids friendly
Love it. My fav restaurant
I’m allergic to shellfish and they wouldn’t let me have alternatives to the prefix menu, my appetizer was disgusting and the rolls were okay at best.
Always great service and excellent food. I almost go there weekly. I would enjoy it more if the guy next to me wasn’t talking that loudly to impress his date. Eyeroll.
Looking for a sushi place we ended up here. Small, tasty, and pricey. No ambiance. No music. Restaurant looks empty. No cozy. Very different place. We had three dishes. All of them delicious but not what we expected from a sushi place.
Then we went to takahachi to finish our dinner.
Amazing service! Everyone is so sweet and it’s always a wonderful experience.
Didn’t have the space for us despite us having a reservation. Staff was rude,
Amazing! Tried the shrimp roll this time and it was really good.
45 minute table limit, no drinks, limited menu, rude service.
Third time here. Always good food and good service. Thanks!
The sushi here is so fresh everything was delicious! Also really reasonably priced! Will definitely be back.
2nd time going and went with a friend this time. she loved it!
Amazing fresh sushi ! Seated right away even though we arrived later than our reservation. Will definitely be coming back
Don’t get the hype or current rating. Mediocre at best. Upon arrival the forest thing they said was you have 40 mins to eat and you have to be out. No alcohol but that is not why the poor rating.
Made a reservation which was accepted and confirmed. I even talked to someone while on my way and he confirmed all was fine. When I arrived at the reserved time, the restaurant was closed and looked like it had been closed for a while. I called and the same guy picked up. He acted as if he was there even though it was now clear he was not on premises. He said he would call me right back after finding out what happened and never did. When I called again, he let it go to voice mail. WTF???? We traveled from across town for this meal!!!! This is so beyond unacceptable I don’t even know what to say. Thanks for ruining an important date.
