Teatro, located in the theater district overlooking the Boston Common, offers a modern approach to classic Italian dishes. The design of Teatro is both elegant and informal. The open kitchen and high arched mosaic ceiling gives the room a theatrical presence. Teatro offers a full bar and wine list. Full menu is available at the bar.

Teatro Ratings and Reviews
Went for a birthday dinner date for my boyfriend. He had a great time and enjoyed the meal. He got the fillet and I got the eggplant. We started with the ravioli and the mushroom soup. Everything tastes delicious (especially the soup). The eggplant, while delicious, was a bit lackluster. Would have enjoyed a more interesting take on it.
Overall, my biggest complaint was just the price, or the value for what we got. But I knew that going in, so I can't complain.
Service was great.
I'm not sure why we've never tried Teatro. It has always gotten great reviews. Now we know why people love it. Everything was great. The food was outstanding. All four of us loved our appetizers and dinners. The mussel appetizer was amazing. And my 1/2 portion of spaghetti carbonara was wonderful. The best I have ever had including in Italy.
We went pre theatre and our server paced our dinner perfectly with time to spare.
We will be back!
Recently had a delicious dinner at Teatro (so good I stopped in the next night for a snack & drinks at the bar) The food is outstanding and there is a great variety on the menu. We had the mushroom flatbread to start. It was cooked to perfection...crispy and hot! Then I had the scallops entree. The scallops were cooked perfectly and finished elegantly with mushrooms. My husband had the swordfish. He said it was so good he never wants to make fish at home again...lol!!
The wine selection was good. We also had the Silk Road cocktail to start which was very good.
Last thing, the bread they serve on the table is some of the best bread I have ever had!! I was thrilled when they gave me some the next night when I sat at the bar...lol!!!
I highly recommend Teatro! It’s close to the theaters which is great too.
I went on a blind date here. It wasn't a cozy place, yet the ambiance is nice. A small bar when you enter the place. The hostess was pleasant and the waiter was swamped with work. I had pineapple and rum drinks made for myself and my date. They were good. We ended up splitting a pizza that had Gorgonzola cheese and prosciutto. It was pretty yummy. Slices are very thin and slightly crisp, so I wouldn't wait to long to eat or it will harden. I think it came out to $65, since I ordered about 4 drinks. Haha! I'd go back, but for Italian, I'd prefer North End much more.
We tried Teatro for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. It was so so good! We got a cute table in the corner. Had a bottle of red wine which was amazing! And the food didn’t disappoint! Probably the best bolognese I’ve ever had. Will definitely go back!
As has been my experience before, Teatro is one of the best places to have a great dinner out before hitting up a theatrical performance or a movie. It doesn't break the bank, and the pasta options can be gotten in both half and full portions (which is great for trying a few things). They don't try to reinvent the wheel; the food is well executed and they're great at delivering delicious classic flavor combinations. Highlights of this past meal were the pork chop (the best I've had in Boston in a while), the mussels, and a special gnocchi dish.
We thought we would visit Teatro based on other reviews on tripadvisor, however, I have to say that we did not have a great experience. We found that the quality of the food was pretty poor. The mussels I had as a starter were full of grit. As for the staff, the majority of them seemed almost scared to approach the customers and congregated in the corners, chatting to each other rather than attended to their guests needs. Luckily for us, we did find one good waiter who we could call upon. I will definitely not be visiting again and wouldn't recommend it.
We arrived for dinner at 6:00 with a reservation. The dining room is relatively small, but was only about a third full. We were sat at a table along the side with one chair and the other seat as part of a long running booth. For some reason, the table we were given was right between the bench so one of us had to sit on the seam between the two benches, which was uncomfortable. We should have asked ot move, but we thought it's not very full, we'll just sit to the side of the seam which was right next to another table but they were both empty on either side of us so not a big deal really. Not too long later it started to get crowded which made for uncomfortable dining experience physically. This however was the only disappointment. The server, Darwin I believe, was fantastic and the food was even better. Arugula salad, octopus, squash tortellini and shrimp linguine finished with the dark chocolate cake were all the best meal we had in Boston.
Every item was absolutely delicious!! It just got a bit too noisy as the number of patrons increased. Part of the problem is that the tables are close together but, on the other hand, more people get to enjoy the food - if not the conversation.
I recommend going during theater and concert hours, not before or after. It's much quieter then.
The food and service were fantastic - tender homemade pasta, rich bolognese, and a saltimbocca to satisfy my husband's discerning palate. We arrrived very early for our reservation but were graciously accommodated even when we decided to make an evening of it because we were having such a good time. We will definitely be back!
It had been years since my last visit to Teatro but the food was just as wonderful as I had remembered. Though loud, we could still hear each other at our table. The service was not up to the level of the food though. We got seated but nobody came to take our drink order. I had to flag someone down after waiting a while.
