We tried Teatro for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. It was so so good! We got a cute table in the corner. Had a bottle of red wine which was amazing! And the food didn’t disappoint! Probably the best bolognese I’ve ever had. Will definitely go back!

As has been my experience before, Teatro is one of the best places to have a great dinner out before hitting up a theatrical performance or a movie. It doesn't break the bank, and the pasta options can be gotten in both half and full portions (which is great for trying a few things). They don't try to reinvent the wheel; the food is well executed and they're great at delivering delicious classic flavor combinations. Highlights of this past meal were the pork chop (the best I've had in Boston in a while), the mussels, and a special gnocchi dish.

Great good but the experience was destroyed by terrible service. It took 30 minutes for someone to get a drinks order after being seated and it was just downhill after that

Very good food, attractive ambience, very professional, attentive service. Would have give 4.5 stars if that were possible (I save 5 stars for ‘extraordinary’). Will definitely return.

The food and service were great. This restaurant is in a small space so it seems a bit cramped when it’s full of diners and people at the bar.

A wond Erik fund in Boston. The service was wonderful and the food incredable. Really loved the place but it was a bit loud for a business dinner. The food and service was so good, that really didn’t matter.

We thought we would visit Teatro based on other reviews on tripadvisor, however, I have to say that we did not have a great experience. We found that the quality of the food was pretty poor. The mussels I had as a starter were full of grit. As for the staff, the majority of them seemed almost scared to approach the customers and congregated in the corners, chatting to each other rather than attended to their guests needs. Luckily for us, we did find one good waiter who we could call upon. I will definitely not be visiting again and wouldn't recommend it.

We arrived for dinner at 6:00 with a reservation. The dining room is relatively small, but was only about a third full. We were sat at a table along the side with one chair and the other seat as part of a long running booth. For some reason, the table we were given was right between the bench so one of us had to sit on the seam between the two benches, which was uncomfortable. We should have asked ot move, but we thought it's not very full, we'll just sit to the side of the seam which was right next to another table but they were both empty on either side of us so not a big deal really. Not too long later it started to get crowded which made for uncomfortable dining experience physically. This however was the only disappointment. The server, Darwin I believe, was fantastic and the food was even better. Arugula salad, octopus, squash tortellini and shrimp linguine finished with the dark chocolate cake were all the best meal we had in Boston.

Every item was absolutely delicious!! It just got a bit too noisy as the number of patrons increased. Part of the problem is that the tables are close together but, on the other hand, more people get to enjoy the food - if not the conversation.

I recommend going during theater and concert hours, not before or after. It's much quieter then.

Five of us met for dinner and conversation. The volume level challenged the ability to converse comfortably. The food was, overall, very well prepared and tasty ... only concerns are overly heavy hand with salt and butter.

The food and service were fantastic - tender homemade pasta, rich bolognese, and a saltimbocca to satisfy my husband's discerning palate. We arrrived very early for our reservation but were graciously accommodated even when we decided to make an evening of it because we were having such a good time. We will definitely be back!

It had been years since my last visit to Teatro but the food was just as wonderful as I had remembered. Though loud, we could still hear each other at our table. The service was not up to the level of the food though. We got seated but nobody came to take our drink order. I had to flag someone down after waiting a while.

We were in Boston on vacation with my husband’s sister and her husband. We chose Teatro for dinner our last night based on the positive reviews from other diners. I wish we had dined there earlier, we would definitely have returned. We each got something different and every entree was delicious. We all tried each others’!! The cocktails were excellent, the service attentive, and the ambience Lively but not overpowering. I had the marinara with the gluten free pasta (they can make many of the entrees gluten free by changing out the pasta) and my husband said it tasted like regular pasta. The marinara, such a simple sounding dish, was really out of this world. My husband’s swordfish was cooked to perfection. I don’t remember the other entrees but they were both amazing. The restaurant was packed and still had people waiting for tables when we left around 9:00. So definitely get reservations - you won’t regret it!

Great restaurant choice before or after the theater, or a movie at Loews Boston Common 19. I had excellent dinners at Teatro twice in 2 weeks after seeing movies at the theater next door. My husband and I both love the pasta entrées, but this time I ordered the salmon entrée. It was fabulous! I took some home to enjoy for lunch the next day. Their house made focaccia bread is very good, and the wine list has some excellent selections by the glass.

Teatro offers splendid, inventive, flavorful dishes and well-made cocktails. Their menu always includes plenty of delicious options for vegetarian diners as well as elegant offerings for omnivores. Their service is attentive but unobtrusive, the setting is lovely, and the restaurant is convenient to concerts, plays, the cinema, shopping and the subway. Our experiences here have been consistently exceptional.

I have eaten in some pretty amazing restaurants but this one was simply off the charts outstanding, best atmosphere and food. We tried all kinds of different offerings....several appetizers, several pastas and the amazing scallops entree....the flavors and textures were perfect!!!! The signature cocktails were equally great....the setting in the old synagogue is awesome as well...make reservations well in advance because it is well known.

The food and service were great. The bean dip with bread to begin was delicious and the antipasto plate was amazing. The noise level was a little loud for easy conversation, but not unusual. We could not taste all the pastas, fish, salads, desserts, and wine, so we will definitely return.

I love Teatro. It's consistently solid food and service and often some really outstanding dishes. The meatballs with foie gras were amazing. The value is also really good as you can have dinner for two with cocktails and dessert at a reasonable price compared to most other places in the area. Great spot for pre/post theater events or movies or really anytime you're in the Common. The atmosphere is also nice, though I think they recently updated it and I have to say, I miss the old lighting on the ceiling. It was a lot more crisp and polished than i remember, but without that spectacular lit up ceiling, the space looks a lot more casual than the cuisine feels.

What a disappointment!

Have had dinner here many times before theater or other events. Their bolognese was perfect. Other dishes were very good. Sometimes I have sat at the bar for a drink just to enjoy the bolognese. This time decided to try the orecchiette with spicy sausage and rabe. We have been to the Puglia region famous for its orecchiette pasta. The dish that came was NOT orecchiette but a regular shell-type pasta (overcooked) with sausage that was bland and not spicy. Neither the waiter nor the hostess when I pointed out that this was the wrong pasta had ANY clue. One of our party ordered the bolognese, which he has had before at the restaurant, and was also very disappointed. His comment was "they must have changed chefs. An Italian restaurant (and chef) that does not know the difference between Barila $0.99 shell pasta and orecchiette. Maybe they figured diners wouldn't notice. A footnote: I had to leave my seat at the theater during the performance because I developed severe stomach cramps. This is my last time eating there!

Good wine list. We had two appetizers, the meatballs and the mussels, both were delicious. We both ordered the bolonaise ,delicious . All the food was served hot and very timely. Our server, Omar was great. We were going to a show after dinner. We had plenty of time to eat and finish our bottle of wine. We will be returning to Teatro.
