We ate here twice in our short stay in Boston. The food was amazing. Best Italian food ever. Staff were very welcoming - everything was perfect.
Food was exquisite. Wonderful pairings and everything was fresh. Service was solicitous but not over the top. Atmosphere is perfect before a night at the theatre.
We had two delicious meals before a show on Sunday. Delicious. I had a salmon dish that was very nicely prepared. Our waiter was attentive and did an excellent job. I would eat there again. I would like to see more vegetarian pasta dishes on the menu that are not dairy. Will eat there again gladly.
Great meal, service and atmosphere. Great spot for dinner before or after going to the theatre. Our server(Wilson) was top shelf. We highly recommend Teatro!
Ate a late dinner here after a show at the Wilbur. Excellent service, perfectly paced food and drinks. Absolutely wonderful bread. Really just an overall great experience.
Great time before Theatre
Consistently good. A great place to go before the theatre.
As usual, a very enjoyable dining experience. We always go prior to going to the theater. They get us in and out in a timely fashion, and it is never rushed.
Outstanding food and service.
Food was fine, but they wouldn’t throw some breaded chicken on my Lemon sauce pasta because it violates their chefs policy. Like the place was going to lose its prestigious reputation? People were eating in T-shirts and jeans for Gods sake! How can you enforce some fancy restaurant etiquette and not others? Ambiance is good for romantic dinners but be advised that you will need your phone’s flashlight option to read your menu as it’s very dark inside, I would go as far to say, maybe too dark. Bigger candles would be my recommendation.
Food delicious and service great- friendly wait staff- only suggestion is that side pasta dishes should be available to go with selections like chicken parmigiana although I appreciate that the menu is designed in true italuan style
Omar was our server—outstanding and very professional! Food was delicious—can’t wait to come back!
Great dinner with very attentive service on a busy Saturday night. I would recommend
Food was excellent. The service was well timed not rushed
Very loud and crowded seating. Menu was not the same as shown online. Food was very good but a little overpriced for portion size. Gluten free spaghetti was done very well.
We have dined here before but was not too impressed on this occasion. I had made reservations weeks in advance but we were still seated way in the back by the kitchen. My husband thought his chicken lasagna was bland. My scallop dinner was very good but the portion was very small for the price. I think if I go back in the future it will only be to have a small plate at the bar.
Food was great and it is a cute little place. But there are too many tables in there making it very cramped and crowded which takes away from the experience.
food was okay. nothing to write home about. took forever to get waited on after being seated. the calamari was awesome. the branzini had way too many bones. my wifes chicken parm was terrible. no flavor and lack luster breading on the chicken. we didnt have dessert. the wine selection was decent. very very loud but its a small space so expected.
Our first time! If you go, someone at the table needs to order the lamb shanks and polenta. The primitivo was one on the best glasses of wine we'd had in a long time. A perfect pairing.
Drawback? The noise. The tables are so close to each other, you get to share in everyone's conversation! If you need quiet, go for a later reservation. Or bring earplugs.
My favorite restaurant pre theater.
Always wonderful - service, staff, food.
Teatro is an excellent choice for pre-theater dinners in the Boston Theater district. Despite being very crowded and busy, the food, service, and timeliness of attention were all superb. I'll be coming back! I did notice that the restaurant wasn't crowded as we left for a show. So if you want a lovely quiet dinner and don't plan to attend a dhow, come around 8 p.m. I'm sure that would be even better.
Great lively vibe, but a bit noisy. Not the place to go for a romantic quiet dinner. Good food, great service, yummy drinks and good fun. Several toilets were plugged but were quickly attended to. Nice to note they have two ladies toilets one men’s.
We love going to Teatro for dinner after seeing a movie at the Boston Common 19 Theater next door. The staff recognizes us and the managers know us by name. They even know which tables are our favorites and seat us there whenever possible. On Sunday night we felt a draft at one of our favorite tables. The managers were more than happy to set another table for us far from any draft. The atmosphere is sophisticated, yet relaxing. The food is always good, and the wait staff and chefs are always gracious about accommodating food allergies and special requests. Teatro is a great choice for middle of the week dining or a special night out. The dining crowd is multi generational. My husband and I highly recommend dinner at Teatro.
We sat at the bar to watch a basketball game. Bar tender was fine, friendly. The pizza was good, beet salad a bit skimpy. We'll probably return sometime
Food came out on the hot side but everything else was fine
I did not love my meal, but it may have been what I ordered. My caesar salad was somewhat bland and flavorless and the stuffed eggplant dish was overly chewy and also somewhat bland. I would definitely give it a second chance, though, as my husband really enjoyed his meal and we both enjoyed our cocktails and dessert.
Very accomodating for restricted diets - satisfactory adjustments made without fuss . Bread particularly good. Food generally excellent. Good service but tables crowded and a little noisy
Good for pre-theatre dining!
I went back to Teatro when I knew I would be in the Boston area because I remembered the food being excellent years ago, and it was somehow even better than before. One person in our party said it was one of the best meals he has ever eaten. The service was great, but the food was outstanding - specifically we had the Carpaccio, Antipasto di Salumi, Calamari, assorted homemade pastas, the sausage pizza, and the veal. The presentation of the appetizers was lovely and the decor of Teatro is gorgeous as well. We will definitely return the next time we get a chance!
Our dinner was delicious and our server exceeded our expectations. She was attentive without being intrusive. And very charming to top it off.
Nice place, good food.
Great as always
Teatro is a wonderful restaurant. Delicious food, great service and comfortable atmosphere. We are always happy to dine there.
This is an amazing restaurant. Great location - we were going to a play nearby - is across from the Common, etc. Beautiful space. Interesting, creative menu - good drinks/wine selections. The food was was quite good - everyone got something different and each enjoyed - there was some sharing, as well!
The service could be more attentive - our waiter seemed to get lost a bit. And, we felt the noise level was quite a bit higher than necessary - which is to say: too loud.
Food was excellent. Recommend the calamari and mussels apps.
We had early dinner reservations prior to attending the theater. Seating is quite close together and the noise level got progressively higher as we concluded dinner, but this is not unusual for a downtown restaurant. Food was delivered promptly. We shared the gnocchi as an appetizer and were very happy with our choice as we were with our main courses, eggplant rollatini and veal saltimboca - both quite good. Gelato as a finisher was just the right size for us to share - three small scoops, one each of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Hostesses were very gracious but waiters seemed rushed when attending to our table. Overall, a positive experience and we will return.
food was very good. excellent venue for pre theatre meal.
Dining at Teatro is always a great experience. All elements are great as well as the convenience of the location.
Great food, beautiful restaurant!
