We were going to a performance nearby for date night, and wanted to try a new-for-us restaurant. The service was very attentive, the food was quite good, and it was nice ambiance. It did get a bit loud though.
(Tuesday night) Waiter (tallish male Latino wearing silver jewelry) was unpleasant and struggled with getting drinks right. Woman waitress or bar manager (White blondish petite) came to help out (which she did) but didn’t come back to check-in with us again. The waiter needed her help! The waiter’s unprofessional behavior lessened what could have been an excellent experience. Waiters need to be patient and not take their mistakes personally.
My Spaghetti Carbonara was excellent, very similar to a dish I had in Italy. Service was very prompt and everyone was friendly. My chocolate martini was very heavy on the bitters, so next time I will probably go with an old faithful espresso martini.
My only complaint was that I made a reservation well over a month ago and they stuck us a table squished between a large party and it was very difficulty to get in an out of my seat. A little disappointing but the food made up for it.
Incredible service and outstanding food. My cousin was visiting Boston for the first time and I wanted to take her to a good restaurant. Teatro was beyond good. The food was excellent and it was an experience both of us will not forget.
This was the perfect spot for a bite to eat before heading to the theater. We were with our teenage children, and the menu offered plenty of options to please everyone. Our server was quite attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, some refreshing "twists" on old favorites (the bruschetta, for example - no tomatoes, but an amazing taste sensation just the same). The location was perfect, as we were heading to the Boston Opera House for a show which was a quick walk after dinner. We will definitely keep this on our list of "do-overs"!
The food was excellent. The tables are very tight but not a problem. The wine list needs some less expensive wines so as to have more options. EX there was only one choice for Sauvignon Blanc, same with Pinot Grigio.
Service was attentive and not rushed. They sat us down immediately upon arrival. Reservations definitely needed, as the place became full within 30 minutes of our arrival at 530pm.
Fantastic service. Food was incredible. Ambience was perfect.
Excellent experience for our date night.
We had the calamari, the spaghetti carbanara, and gnocchi and it was all fantastic. The place looks really nice and has an old theater look. For drinks I had an old fashion and it was very good. Great experience overall.
It was a great Valentine's Day! Awesome food and service!
Had a great meal, server and hostess said happy birthday and brought out gelato thanks teatro staff!
This is a perfect place for a pre-theatre dining experience. The food was delicious and expertly presented by a professional efficient waitstaff. Many choices of Italian specialties on the menu with smaller portions available too.
Great food and drink. Darwin is an excellent waiter.
The food and service were excellent. Cocktails were very good too. But the noise level was very high, as some others have mentioned.
We really enjoyed the overall ambience of Teatro. However, the Caesar salad dressing was non-existent as were the croutons and the Greyhound cocktail tasted as if the grapefruit juice came out of a can - so avoid. We did enjoy the Bolognese - smaller portion was perfect and tasty.
Third time there and brought friends. Everyone loved their meals and drinks. Great night!
If only it was less noisy, it would be great. Food and service are always excellent.
What a great find! Careful attention to detail (our daughter's celiac disease), slowly but effeciently paced meal (hate to have courses whipped out in assembly line fashion) and very good food with attention to layers of flavors and portion size. An excellent choice for pre-theatre or really anytime in my book.
Good service, good food. Pleasant atmosphere but a little noisy. I would definitely go again.
The portions are small for the price. The mushroom soup came in a large bowl but it contained about 6 tablespoons. My entree was the Thursday special of the day, lamb osso bucco. It consisted of a very tiny piece of lamb-less than an ounce. On the positive side, the lamb was tender and tasty. Service was excellent.
Great food and very accommodating if you are heading to the theatre, very nice wait staff
If you are going to a Show, Teatro is the right place for you - it was for me. Greeted and seated, no wait - yes, I had a reservation, but waits can happen. Table location back of the room and comfortable. Wait person was efficient and kind; service was excellent. Light eaters, so got the antipasti verdure. Delicious and plentiful - could feed 3 people. Good platter with varied foods - see menu description. Also got Fries with rosemary and sea salt. Perfect version. Room is noisy, but in a good, happy way.
Recommend Teatro even if you're not going to a Show nearby.
Food: The salmon was probably the best I've ever tasted. However, the scallops not so much. They were smaller and fewer than expected, and not necessarily outstanding in flavor. The appetizer, Carpaccio, again delicious, although not plentiful.
Service and ambiance: Our waiter Omar was excellent. However, everything did seem a bit rushed. Also kind of loud, but not bothersome.
Great food, perfect pre-theatre spot. A bit noisy and tightly spaced as the crowd grows which is to be expected. All in all a great experience!
Service was rushed. Appeared the restaurant wanted quick table turnaround.
The food at Teatro was excellent! Service was great! They give a nice pour of wine to boot. I'd definitely like to return.
We loved everything except the pasta bolognese. Two of us had this and it was very bland.
Awesome food and great ambiance. Service was great.
Great service, good food, good acoustics (so you can actually have a conversation), and great location. We highly recommend Teatro as a place to go before or after the theatre (or anytime!). Also great vibe at the bar. The bartender was very knowledgable in her craft and created a good atmosphere with her patrons.
Ate at bar- great service and food was delicious. We were headed to a musical and got there right on time!
Will come back!
Excellent service from the front desk to the waiter and support staff. Really great. The rib eye was excellent. Pasta dish good. Ceaser salad plain. Overall. A great dinner
Enjoyed our dinner... only minor complaint was that our table for 2 was very close to others...you could not have a private conversation if you wanted to.
I had a wonderful meal at Teatro. The casear salad was delicious as well as the carbonara. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. My only complaint is that we felt rushed. I had not finished my salad before my entree had arrived.
It was a great experience across the board all the way through dessert. Service and drinks were excellent and attentive. The one off note was the carbonara. It was made with creme (never! ;-D) and proper carbonara is made using the starch from the al dente pasta worked along with the pasta water or broth in a wide pan over heat and then additionally thickened with an egg yolk and parmigiana. Because all the other food was spot on, this was a surprise.
I’ll still be back!
Great place, great service, great food. We'll defiantly go again!
Food was good and service was excellent. Despite the restaurant being packed, we got our food right away with little delay.
Tables are so close together you might bump elbows with a stranger sitting next to you. I got lucky because we got a seat on the end of the row. Seemed to tight to be comfortable.
Great food, great service! The noise level was just a tad bit too high for my liking. Great for pre or post theater!
Food was delicious!
Unfortunately we had to ask the hostess to find our waiter as we were never approached by him after being seated. I'd say minimum of 10-12 mins. without being acknowledged. All he had to do was greet us and say he'd be right with us.
The hostess was great and offered to get us whatever we needed however we just wanted to order dinner.
Once he was found his service was excellent!
Overall not bad, however not great. I had requested that they put the octopus appertizer over a salad and they refused to do so. So I ordered it separately and did it myself.
The place was small. when we got to the restaurant there was very few people yet they sat us on the couch table that was to tight and we could barely move between tables. The waiter was hard to understand ands when I ordered my drink I asked for a small cocktail glass and he completely ignored my request and brought me a tall thin glass.
The rest rooms are in the cellar and you have to walk down two flights of stairs into a very small room. The food was good, but overall the ambiance and service was sub-par.
Teatro provides exceptional experiences every time I dine there. Their dishes and cocktails are consistently, perfectly prepared and presented, and the flavors are sophisticated, beautifully balanced and delicious. They also create meatless dishes with as much care, flavor and finesse as they give to their other dishes, which shows both creativity and respect for all of their guests.
