Nice place, good food.
Great as always
Teatro is a wonderful restaurant. Delicious food, great service and comfortable atmosphere. We are always happy to dine there.
This is an amazing restaurant. Great location - we were going to a play nearby - is across from the Common, etc. Beautiful space. Interesting, creative menu - good drinks/wine selections. The food was was quite good - everyone got something different and each enjoyed - there was some sharing, as well!
The service could be more attentive - our waiter seemed to get lost a bit. And, we felt the noise level was quite a bit higher than necessary - which is to say: too loud.
Food was excellent. Recommend the calamari and mussels apps.
We had early dinner reservations prior to attending the theater. Seating is quite close together and the noise level got progressively higher as we concluded dinner, but this is not unusual for a downtown restaurant. Food was delivered promptly. We shared the gnocchi as an appetizer and were very happy with our choice as we were with our main courses, eggplant rollatini and veal saltimboca - both quite good. Gelato as a finisher was just the right size for us to share - three small scoops, one each of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Hostesses were very gracious but waiters seemed rushed when attending to our table. Overall, a positive experience and we will return.
food was very good. excellent venue for pre theatre meal.
Dining at Teatro is always a great experience. All elements are great as well as the convenience of the location.
Great food, beautiful restaurant!
We love this place. Every thing is great. Our only comment about this visit was that there was too much base in the music and it was a bit loud.
We had the calamari, vela and the pork shoulder.
Honestly I would be happy with the bread and dip and a salad.
Perfect for a pre theater meal.
Excellent as always. Fantastic service, delicious food and very reasonably priced. One of our favorite places to eat! (in addition to Sorellina and L'andana)
Everything was perfect. We go here all the time.
This was our 2nd time to Teatro and it was just as good as the first. We arrived early so that we could have a drink at the bar. The bartender created a drink for my wife and it was excellent. I had one of the drink specials and that was good as well. The beet salad was full of flavor (6 beets in total) and a good first course for us to share. We each had a pasta dish because they make terrific pasta. My wife's scallops had an unusual flavor (good though) while my Veal Saltimbocca was excellent. We brought 1/2 of our dinners home as we had to have the Chocolate Crema for dessert.
Food and drinks great. Service great. The ambiance was fun, alittle bit noisy, but everyone was having a good time.
First time here. Great mix of classics with great flavor. Excellent service and vibe. Looks like even even a pizza and wine at the bar looks to be a great choice for next time. And a great location on the Commons makes it a convenient and fun spot.
Look forward to next time very soon
It was disappointing. First it was super loud - so loud that my phone alarm was going off for 35 min next to us and we didn't hear it. Then the food was very expensive and really mediocre. My pasta was $26 for Alfredo sauce with a few veggies, which I was told were extra. I had a beet salad which was about five slices of beets spread around the plate for $15. Basically like eh mall food but way more expensive. Definitely not one of the better Boston restaurants.
First-time visit, pre-theater. Meal was piping hot, items correctly served to table members, and delicious. Server was personable and prompt. Tab for shared salad, entree, glass of wine, biscotti/decaf was very reasonable. Thank you for exceeding my expectations.
Went to see show at colonial theater after dining at Teatro's. Perfect place as it was a two min walk to the theater .the service was on the mark, and the food was fantastic. We had the salmon, eggplant and mussels - all were cooked to perfection and the flavors were exquisite. The mulled red wine was warm and tangy, and the pannacotta and gelato for dessert had lit candles for the birthday girls!
Fabulous spot for pre-show dining in the theater district. Food, cocktails, service and ambiance are all outstanding.
Teatro is a great place to go when you have tickets to a show. They are quick to serve and the food is wonderful. I always order their Saltimbocca, excellent!
Eggplant rollatini was amazing! Awesome place, a lot of noise but it was delicious and beautiful.
Sound level in restaurant is very loud when at full capacity, making conversations more difficult. Some additional sound insulation might help.
Loved it! Exquisite meals that taste even better than they looked. We started our meal with the Arancini. They were so full of flavor and different. These rice balls were made with a blend of mushrooms and garlic but not too overpowering for the fontina cheese which oozed out the middle. The Veal Marsala was extremely tender. The Branzino fresh and perfectly grilled. We finished our meal by splitting the Panna Cotta. Creamy and rich tasting. It was our first time there. Can’t wait to go back!
Very good food food and service, but the tables were a little squished.
Teatro was excellent. Decor may be a little dated but the service and food was excellent. We had Chicken Milanese, pasta bolognese and salmon. Went there before a show with friends and wanted to take our time, did not feel rushed. Definitely would go again and again.
I still like Teatro, but it's still too expensive for what it is. Service was very good and fast. Wine list is brief and overpriced. Most appetizers are 15$ or more, and the portions aren't large enough to substantiate the cost. just ok.
We always have a great meal here. The mussels are great, as is all the pasta. They do an amazing job!
Going to concert at the Boch Theatre
Very good food. Outstanding pizza - like being in Italy.
Nice to have 1/2 bottle of wine option.
Great service and amazing food
Always great food. Enough choices to satisfy and the wait staff is always understanding when you're trying to get out quickly to make the show.
A few screw ups with service but overall outstanding!
Enjoye the meal. Water glass was always full.
Goo location to get to a show at the Opera House.
Pricey for the quality of food. Meals dont come with any sides. I ordered chicken parm at $28. Thats all i got-chicken parm when my meal was delivered. Better food with salad and pasta in the north end at more reasonable prices.
Dinner before musical at Opera House. Delicious, timely, and avordable!
We were going to a performance nearby for date night, and wanted to try a new-for-us restaurant. The service was very attentive, the food was quite good, and it was nice ambiance. It did get a bit loud though.
(Tuesday night) Waiter (tallish male Latino wearing silver jewelry) was unpleasant and struggled with getting drinks right. Woman waitress or bar manager (White blondish petite) came to help out (which she did) but didn’t come back to check-in with us again. The waiter needed her help! The waiter’s unprofessional behavior lessened what could have been an excellent experience. Waiters need to be patient and not take their mistakes personally.
My Spaghetti Carbonara was excellent, very similar to a dish I had in Italy. Service was very prompt and everyone was friendly. My chocolate martini was very heavy on the bitters, so next time I will probably go with an old faithful espresso martini.
My only complaint was that I made a reservation well over a month ago and they stuck us a table squished between a large party and it was very difficulty to get in an out of my seat. A little disappointing but the food made up for it.
Incredible service and outstanding food. My cousin was visiting Boston for the first time and I wanted to take her to a good restaurant. Teatro was beyond good. The food was excellent and it was an experience both of us will not forget.
This was the perfect spot for a bite to eat before heading to the theater. We were with our teenage children, and the menu offered plenty of options to please everyone. Our server was quite attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, some refreshing "twists" on old favorites (the bruschetta, for example - no tomatoes, but an amazing taste sensation just the same). The location was perfect, as we were heading to the Boston Opera House for a show which was a quick walk after dinner. We will definitely keep this on our list of "do-overs"!
